This truck did not have 1 foot in the grave......It was BURRIED and I dug it up and repaired it. I even amazed myself. thanks for watching and your comments. thanks for watching.
What’s the story on the transaxle? Is it the original one? What type of servicing did you have to do apart from the obvious (axle boots, gear oil change, etc)?
@@vayabroder729 yea axle boots fresh gear oil and seals. That is it. was in PERFECT condition. I bet this thing had very low miles. Definitely less than 100k km if the engine was protected more it would have been brand new too. it was an x case (factory rebuild) very low miles crank and rods were like new but the case was totally ruined. sheet metal was rusted out too lots of it.
This was one of the best restoration project I’ve ever seen ,your realistic approach and teaching made you look forward to each episode.thank you so much
Hopefully this is the hardest project you will ever do. All your years of experience and knowledge came into play here. Most folks would not have been able to do what you have done. This beast would have gone straight into the crusher. Miraculous save.
I watched every episode of this resto during lockdown and the Covid year here in Uk..... it was utterly unreal. I found I couldn’t wait for the next part. Gained a huge amount of respect for mike as he scratched his head and came up with cost effective solutions and brilliant repairs. He actually got better and better as he went along. Anyone doing a single cab should watch the series. Never seen anything as rusty as that put back together, and I’ve watched a steam locomotive resto from scrapyard condition. It wasn’t as bad as this Vw. I recon if they raised the titanic, mike could fix it up!! Lol Way to go mike. Thanks for the journey 👍😁
Have watched this from the very beginning and Wow ! Had forgotten how bad it really was! Well done Mike you deserve a medal for taking this on .looking forward to seeing the lift installed ,keep up the great work 👍👌
Your calibrated eyeball seems pretty accurate to me . Your truck turned out great . This should inspire people with projects just setting around . Two thumbs up Mike .
I would pause the Westy restoration videos when this bucket truck was visible in the background. Wondered how it could be saved. Now I know. Amazing resurrection!
This is a great video Mike. I have watched every video on your progress as they came out and was amazed by every one. After a while images of what you started with escaped my memory but this video made me realize how bad this truck truelly was and how much hard work and talent went into making it what is is today. Over the course of this project, there was many times that I would say to myself "Why the hell is Mike doing it that way?" but in the end, your techniques always worked and it looks great. Your work is top notch. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming. Looking forward to seeing this one done and looking forward to your future projects.
Can't believe how much time you have put into this truck. Super bad ass. Can't wait to see it in person. You should give us a heads up when you plan on taking it to a meet. Ill make the drive just see it in person. Thanks a million for taking us along in this journey
thanks I need the algorithm to see that. very helpful to watch whole video. RUclips sees it as a value and suggests it more. even if you just play it in the background while your doing something else.
Hi Mike, well my friend I was with you from day 1when you started this event💎, Nice to see that all back again but I have all your Ep I`m and did watch these several times, so I know how much time and hours are offered 🙏to rebuild the CherryPicker👏.As always my respect Mike. I´m almost there myself with my VW T3 SC-see you on the next video🎬 finishing The basked and reassemble the lift back again. greetings, from HCS☮🍀🇳🇴
I have to say , you did a phenomenal job but good lord the hours it took to restore it when 80% of it has to be fabricated. Just a crazy build. Congratulations 💪🏼😎👍🏼
Mike you are truly an artist when it comes to all aspects of vehicle restoration ,you have to be unique a passionate person to save any old vehicle in a bad way I take my hat off you ,My dad use to drive a tower wagen ,cherry picker van as we would call them in Wales UK, for repairing the street lights, when he came home from work for lunch I use to sneak out and go up, down and side ways playing fireman wobbling side to side at full height in the box I was about 8years old I loved it even though it was parked on a steep hill on the side of the family house ,thinking now how dangerous it was ,mmmm good memories haha 😆 look forward to more works of art cheers kev
Hi, Mike you Came along way Baby on this VW Bucket Truck, You Took on Something that Looked impossible to Some People. But you Gave it Life, Your Doing An Awsome Job and Cant Whate till it's done. 👍😎
When I watched this post ,I remember posting a comment saying it was easier to get a donor single cab and adapted the modification for the bucket truck but still kept the vin numbers
My first attempt to restore anything is the 69 bus I have. I regretted it from the get go. It was and still is so full of holes. I have no talents at all so I depend on friends and out sourcing jobs we can't do. So, after watching this video, I don't feel so bad. There is still a lot of work to do but I don't feel so bad about the holes anymore. It resembles rolling junk but is so much fun to drive. Thanks for the great videos.
I did watch the entire series on this. Very impressive. The thing really seemed completely gone, its amazing you were able to bring it back. I also enjoyed watching it again condensed in half an hour. Amazing !!
Mike, I'm always amazed at what you can do !! I love your videos, they're the best and your work is even better !! Thanks for giving us all the tips and tricks on how to restore our vehicles !!
That was a great video and discussion on the process. I really love your practicality and understanding that not everything can be measured easily. Great man...really great.
Well done Mike !, I watched most of your restoration on this and was very impressed indeed with your skills and the fantastic outcome !. Congratulations with all of this !
Great follow up on the bus, watched every video.good video.now to carry on and finishing up the next phase of the restoration.just keep doing what your doing and carry on.kudos 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Amazing job, fabricating all that stuff to bring it back and it drives nice! I wonder if she'll still climb that hill in 3rd once the restored lift is mounted back on.
Loved this one Mike, I learned allot from this even though I may never get the opportunity to do metal work fab like this the rest of my lifetime. The skills you have on this is amazing and allot of people are doing fab work saving these old vehicles that really need to be saved to preserve history. You're doing your part buddy. Keep up the good work.
You do some amazing work! I envy your VW's! I love youtube for this very reason. It's a huge help when it comes to VW's. Learning to do simple things like how to change the oil in a VW (not sure if there's even a video on that) to full-blown restos, etc is nice to have available. How many hours do you think you put into this?
yea but they watch.....The full detail videos are not profitable. so I do these because they pay out. Nothing pays out enough though the 8000 view videos made about $20 and are now dead. These full build ones pay out like up to 5k over time and keep getting watch. The only way I can make this work is by doing these. yea it caters to the ones who dont want to watch I wish they would but it is what it is. some find these and start on the playlist just to see the detail. The algorithm sucks. If I dont have one of these they stop suggesting me.
The bumpers are original like that. they came like that for safety. That is part of the special model. stuff. also the basket will be the same and the outriggers were also striped. ALL GOING ORIGINAL.......

Good job working on the truck
This isn't a restoration, it's a resurrection! This truck was far beyond restorable, yet you have done it! 👍
the definition of a resurrection!
This project has been nothing short of a miracle! Really!
Thank you for documenting all of this. Results are amazing. You basically started with Swiss cheese and now have a bucket truck.
Pretty much!
It’s wonderful to see the transformation something that not everybody can do, congrats 👍🏽
Really enjoyed that. The fast-motion approach works well.

I bet you wish you did all of that in 30 minutes.
I applaud your dedication and hard work bringing this back to life and I love the orange color.
Just amazing work Mike!! This has been a real educational experience from a true boss!!
Mike this is a true work of art. Calling it a restoration doesn’t tell 1/2 the story. Probably the only hand made bucket truck in existence.
no I had to keep lots of the panel fabrication and metal forming out of it. it would be too long for the people who like the 30 min build videos.

The amount of work exceeds any kind of imagination..
My most profound respect..
thanks it was little over a year of huge amount of hours and dedication. Luckily my day work slowed down so I could do it.
I Have Only One Word , "YOUR THE MAN"...txs for sharing Mike
Looks great. Thats alot of work bud for sure. You should be proud thats a big project.
Now history is preserved.

I wasnt totally sure when I cut it up. once we got far enough on the cut up we came up with a plan.
I watched every episode of this build, and here I am back again watching this review. Awesome job.
neat to see it go together really fast.

You have done an amazing job. And you gave me the confidence to restore my 74 super beetle. Thank you
You can do it!
Great job, like your work and your Videos. Aircooled greets from Germany.
OMG the work and money to repair it had to be enormous
AMAZING job, once again!!!

That turned out amazing! The extremely hard work you did made it possible!
What a great video, watched it three times, amazing save Mike, such a nice result ! 🏁

Its great that this truck got saved but these six months in 30 min type vids just pander to lazy people who don't want to watch complete builds.
