Dizz I went through that on my 07 Tundra last summer. I must say, your choice of words was much more family friendly than mine! That was a whole lot totally full of struggle buses I remember changing the water pump on my first car… a ‘63 Chevy V-8 without air… It did have power steering and brakes! Before that the only water pump that I saw worked on was my dad changing one out on the Farmall C. In 100f temps under a shade tree, I spent a whole afternoon wrenching on it… I didn’t have sockets. I complained the whole time about how crowded it was trying to get in there to work. But in retrospect… there was enough room for a barn dance compared to what we have now! One nice thing now is… one belt! One spring loaded tensioner! The biggest challenge for me was always getting the right belt tension the first time. I can’t count the number of squealing belts, over tensioned belts wrecking bearings or skinned knuckles those old V-belts gave me! This was a most enjoyable pump change for me… because I didn’t have to leave my recliner to get it done! Thanks Dizz!!!
I was quite impressed with how easy this water pump was to change. I remember working on my dads old trucks and everything would be rusted and seized, those weren’t so family friendly projects lol. The one belt is nice, I fight with the three belts on the old loadstar more often than I want to admit. We used to have a stockpile of old v belts hung on the wall of the garage……just in case! Lol The first car I ever worked on was my brother’s 77 trans-am, I only wish new vehicles had as much room under the hood. Engineers should really think about the pleasantly plum people that will be working on these! Lol Hope your having a great week so far.
