Thanks for uploading the full fight man! If I'm not mistaken, this was the last "prime" Ali fight before his forced hiatus due to the war. Again, much appreciated!
Funny how Ali said before the fight that he plans to never get hit. However, after his exile his whole strategy was based around letting his opponents take their best shots on him and tire themselves out.
41:00 Don Dunphy and the crowd thought those landed but Ali pulled from the jabs, rolled clear of the right, and blocked the left. Ali slipped tons of shots but Zora was crafty and was more successful than anyone in reaching Ali than anyone in his short 'prime' reign 64-67.
Folley was a great defensive fighter. He was never gonna be a champ, but he was amazing defensive fighter. He would give everyone a problem, no matter who fought him. His rolling with the punches is textbook. If you had a 25 yrs old Folley vs this version of Ali, it would've been a longer fight, but I think the results would not change.
Chris Tasse in the comments below said it best... How much weight was clamped down over him regarding the political bullshit about to end his career - temporarily as the soon to be greatest of all time!
Ali was in his prime in March, 1967. I saw this fight on television and was awed by it. But now it appears different to me. Although the lead rights were fast punches, it looks as if Folley was diving forward at the same time. Then Folley’s overreaction at trying to use to the count. Frazier wouldn’t have flinched at those punches. I can’t help but wonder if Folley was paid to take a dive, much as I don’t enjoy thinking this way.
10 years later from 1967 to 1977 Muhammad Ali would be champion of the world once again defending against another challenger name Ernie... Remarkable parallel in both Muhammad Ali's title reigns...
@@joeblevins1058 taking a dive in his only shot at the title? AND that's your rationale for why he did it? Yeah.. you've got some nerve calling someone ELSE "dumb". Go drink some anti-freeze.
@@kingcassius2586 Folley was a slick boxer and he was smart. Smart enough to know he didn't want to end up like Ernie Terrell. Although Terrell did beat Folley earlier in their careers. Folley knew what time it was in the Ali fight. He opted out.
@@joeblevins1058 nah dude. You don't train and take a couple decades of bumps and bruises and then finally get your opportunity after being ducked for the better part of a decade only to quit st the last minute. That makes absolutely no sense. He worked way too hard for way too long to just up and quit, knowing he's never gonna get another chance. That just simply doesn't make any sense.

"He was a better fighter than Sonny Liston, or Floyd Patterson or Ernie Terrell. He was slick, tricky and a good boxer." - Muhammad Ali
Of course Liston's fights were fakes.
@@Shovelhook with Ali, I don't think so!!
Vo sos loco. Era mejor y sigue siendo mejor q todos.
Haha Foley took a dive

Different style pre 1970 and after 1970

Agreed. Folley was a good counterpuncher, and I believe if Patterson had given Folley he’s chance, he would’ve e been the champion.
Why is Folley forgotten? He not only gave Ali a better fight than anyone who fought Ali at his peak.

Hahahah what fight did you watch.
Ali was the taller heavier boxer, yet ali was also faster.
That was beautiful double right hand to end it. The first hurt Folley and the second finished him.
Beautiful chess match!

The years that were robbed from him, 1968-1969 2 years and a half of exile.
Was Ali spitting blood @39:20? I think so.

can you say "dive"
Right.. Folley would've won that fight but he lost on purpose. Can you say "delusional"?
@@kingcassius2586 no, dummy. He could not have won that fight under any circumstance. Therefore he took a dive. Smart move

Folley was one the best HWs of all time to never have won the belt. According to most boxing historians!
He beat a prime Cooper chuvalo, bonavera, and foster. He earned his shot.
Andá mirar beisbol pelotudo!
He was a top 10 contender for 11 years in a row
