I have a black Jinhao 80 with a Lamy 1.1 nib. I use it with Lamy turquoise bottled ink . It's my daily carry . I love the hinged clip on the Jinhao 80 which will easily slip over the thick pocket of my tweed jacket. I love the Jinhao 80
It's definitely a great pen! I've been looking to buy myself a Lamy stub nib, but I haven't pulled the trigger for it yet. Thanks for dropping a comment!
Brian Goulet. The othet guy is Drew Brown. I also love fountain pens. Just discovered them during the COVID-19 lock down. I have a Pilot vanishing point in broad. Absolutely love it. Lamy Safari is an awesome pen. My first FP.
Yeah that's it! Lol I remembered his name was Brian like minutes after recording the video and didn't feel like going back in and editing a correction so I left it as is. Thank you! The vanishing point is one of my grail pens, I hope to buy an all black one day. I love the safari too, its super good. Thanks for leaving a comment and watching the video!
Theres no shame in having an inexpensive notebook as long as it does the job & doesnt distract from the writing, 9 years in the hobby & i dont use Tomoe River or Rhodia hardly at all, aint nobody need time for that.
Yeah, I own some rhodia and tomoe river paper, I just don't usually use it. I like my cheap paper a lot, I didn't mean to sound embarrassed about it cuz I'm not, I was just pointing out what I was writing on. You're totally right tho, as long as it works for your purposes who cares what you're using. Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment!
Modern Jinhaos are spectacular value for money. Try the new X-159 and the 9019 Dadao. I own 34 Jinhaos and am constantly adding to the Jinhao part of my collection. BTW, the Jinhao 80 is an homage to the Lamy 80 Profil.
Hi. -.ZeS.- from Madrid Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad). With regards to this Fountain Pen (and I have many 'cause I use them not only as EDCs for writing but also for sketching and Art) I have to say that I have 2 (Black and Silver) with & nibs and, after over 6 months of use... 1. They look from the outside like a Lamy 2000... but NOT the same at all. 2. The nibs write well. Jinhao's nibs are pretty reliable when using them "fresh". 3. The BIG PROBLEM is that the nibs dry out extremely fast and you have to clean the whole FP every few days if you don't use them daily. Not cool at all. I have 7 Jinhao's and it's the same with all of them. I even have them with FUDE nibs. They are well made for the price you pay but... They dry out too fast compared to other FPs (TWSBI ECO - always ready to be used even if you didn't use it for a month, for example; or Platinum Preppys - I have 3 and they NEVER dry out and are really cheap; just to name a few). There are other Jinhao's that I own and I believe are much better than the 80. Just to share some if my knowledge and passion for Fountain Pens. Cheers from Sunny Spain!!! 😁👍😎✌
Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I agree, these pens do have some issues with drying out, but for me, the bang for buck value is so high that I don't mind some small issues like that, I also don't use too many pens at a time so I am always using the 80 when I have it inked. I ended up getting some 82s and I love them much more than these, the compactness is wonderful and the nibs are much better, they still dry out more than my Lamy, but again, not a big deal for me. I need to do another haul video soon, I finally have enough new inks and pens to do one again. Thanks again!
Lol same. It's not something I see crossing over often. I was planning on doing an ink exploration video where I match inks to manga series and using some quotes from them to do writing samples. if you have any manga or quotes you'd think are good let me know and I'll see if I can use them. Right now the two inks I haven't matched to anything are writers blood and ancient copper

Yeah! I love it and no problem!
