The Jinhao 80 is a solid pen that you can get for under $10 USD delivered. It is virtually indestructible, comes in many colors and it is super simple to swap nibs and the Lamy style nibs are numerous and inexpensive in the marketplace. I have yet to find a better commuter fountain pen. I also have a Lamy 2000. It is a different pen for an entirely different market. I like both but for entirely different reasons. I use the Jinhao 80 all the time.

Great pens, I have 3, all with different Lamy nibs: M, B, and 1.1 stub. Lots of colorways, and a great price.

Did you have problems getting the nib off? That seems to be an issue with some folks. I gave it a mild effort and it didn't seem to want to budge. How did you remove yours?

@@thepenman357 Yes, I had a really hard time pulling out the nib. Some have used tape, but that didn't help me. I didn't care about damaging the original nib so I used finger-nail clippers to get a good grip. Though I probably could have used a thick rubber band to cushion the finger-nail clippers or something like that.

    I use a black Jinhao 80 with a Lamy 1.1 nib. I love it.
15 bucks total. Perfect. Simple slide on fit

Was removing the nib difficult for you? Did you have to do anything out the ordinary to remove it?

That one looks a bit thin for me. Right now I'm only buying pens to review that I think I would like for my own collection. I am willing to review any pen sent to me, however.

It’s a Lamy knock off. I have both trust me . If Lamy made the 2000 in different colours,we wouldn’t have to use $8 knockoffs. The nib set up on the 80 is the same as the Lamy Safari/Al Star. I can’t get nib off on the 80 - I can on my Lamys.
The nibs on the 80 are Fine which I’d like to change for mediums.

Stop! Just stop it! Why can’t you just review a pen on its own merits instead of constantly comparing everything to another brand?

I usually do review a pen on it's own merits, as long as that pen isn't trying to mimic another pen. When I make a review on pens like this 80, which is trying to mimic the 2k, or the A1, which is trying to mimic the VP, or the Wing Sung 699, which is trying to mimic the Custom 823, I need to make some comparisons, simply because that's what most people will be curious about also. The next pen up for review was manufactured on it's own merits, so that is how I will review it.

Great writer, I think the clip is the weak point for this pen.

Mine works well. But we'll have to see for how long, eh?

They have copied ugliness of the original pen. If it was even for free I wouldn’t use it.

🤣 Yeah, it isn't the nicest looking pen I've ever seen either.
