Note about using the Uxbridge in a multi-room from marshall: They reported it'll be about 2-3 months before it is working due to the Amazon Certification process. We will see if it actually happens.
I hope they make a larger and portable( without a continuous power supply) version of this with at least an IP55 rating. The output should be at least more than the Kilburn II (36W)
Yeah for sure I think you'll be happier with the acton for low range. Plus overall I think its a better product. I own 2 of the 1st gen and they are solid.

However I am still a bit confused, would you recommend a Marshall Acton II or Marshall Uxbridge, if I have to buy for someone else having priority of Look/Elegance , Sound and then the tech (google assistant as that can be handled from phone as well). Great review. I know it has its flaws, but would you consider this a very good option for sub $100 speakers? I managed to get this on sale for $99 so was cheaper than the Willen II or Embleton options from the store. Seemed a bargain.
I've heard the sonos sounds good, but you have to commit to their eco system of products from what I recall. Similar to how the iphone is stubborn when working with windows.
I own a Woburn 1 and acton 1 so I’ve been slightly spoiled, I need a decent bedroom speaker as I’ve been a sound bar there, I really only need it to run sleep sounds and don’t listen to a lot of music and here but I definitely need something better than my Polk sound bar, would you recommend this in my situation Great video btw, I’ve watched a bunch of them over the last couple of days

I hope they used this design (except the plastic housing) on their kilburn model.

Is Alexa's voice too loud even though the volume of the speaker is low? I have experienced that with Sonos

I think the Acton is a better more mainstream speaker and built with slightly better materials

Yew-ex-bridge. Or user experience bridge. Or bridging the integration of alexa/voice assistants to marshall speaker line.
Sort of a testbed platform for alexa inbuilt speakers before rolling it on their main lineup. There will be no gen 2.

I just would recommend an echo device. She plays sleep rain sounds on command for me.

I know it's late but the answer is no, you don't have to use Alexa to utilize this speaker. You can connect through Bluetooth as well.
