I'm looking to do this on a 2008 Acura TL type S.Did you find that the revs went back to normal over time? Can you post a link to the site you purchased the manifold from. Thanks for any info Matt O'Hearn.
I used Ktuner to reduce the rev hang. All the parts were ordered from www.heeltoeauto.com, they have a package deal that includes the manifold and throttle body and gaskets if you want.
Hi, I have an 03 accord V6 and I've been looking at doing this kind of work for a long time, using the 3.7 acura IM and TB as well as a 3.5 camshaft. It should all work for mine too, right? with the 3.0L? alos, I have generally heard that TB spacers aren't really worth it, do they seem to go a little further with the J series? thanks for the upload, awesome results!
the 3.7 IM and TB will work fine but im not sure about the camshafts. do you have some sort of tuner? k-tuner? Hondata? if so you should be able to make it work but changing cams without a re-tune might cause driveability problems. as for the TB spacer, yes i generally agree but i did not install a TB spacer. I installed an IM spacer which is different because it raises the manifold from the bottom up essentially lengthening the intake runners. honda does this from the factory on the larger vehicles such as the ridgeline, pilot etc. and in theory the manifold spacer is supposed to shift the torque curve down to make more torque at lower RPM.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a hondata tuner for the accord auto trans, and while I do want to swap the transmission thats just a bit further out do to time and cost. but if I can just start with the IM, TB, spacer, and exhaust it sounds like that will go a long way!
Is your Ktuner the reflash or the in-ecu? I've also read a lot about non hondata tuners just sorta getting week and reverting back to normal and needing to be retuned a lot, does Ktuner do that or is it constant like hondata?
I have the k-tuner reflash. I'm still on the base map tune, waiting on a couple more parts before I get it dyno tuned. I'm not sure about the consistency but it's working well so far
Ok. So I just watched a how-to video where a guy shows how to ktuner reflash an accord. Looks good, if I got the reflash I'd be able to adjust to accommodate for a J35 camshaft, correct?
Take this with a grain of salt. Get a dyno graph reading. A couple TL owners say they lost power on the dyno with this setup combined with other bolt ons. Hondata is the only way you're going to make gains going FBO.
I've heard that the TL sh-awd manifold flows the best but can't find any hard data to support that. It does have the largest j-series throttle body though which is why i chose that combo instead of the slightly smaller ZDX set. don't know which would work better for your 3.0 tho
Just wondering why did you purchase the top plate kit for the manifold? On heeltoe it says that 2008-2012 V6 Accord Coupe doesn't need it since the oem one can bolt right on. No butterfly valve needed either? Just wanna make sure that's accurate before i purchase the manifold too
@@ACCORDingtoWill it does look freakin sick lol. I just ordered the tb and im today. Any weird issues to install or is it pretty straight forward? I know some bolts from oem manifold get reused for the new one. Does the tb have the same sensor locations as oem j35 tb?
@@j35ray it was very straight forward, only thing i would suggest is getting some copper gasket spray to coat the manifold gasket on both sides to create a good seal. I did not use any and had a whistling noise that drove me crazy
no i didnt. i drove the car with just the bolt ons for about a month before i installed the ktuner. the car learned itself how to adjust, but the ktuner definitely helped especially with the rev hang
Your Revs still hanging? I read on a ZDX Swap forum post that one of the lines that goes into the ZDX IM isn't used or something and must be sealed, or else he gets a 1.8K rev hang? You get the tune yet? any updates?
i installed the k-tuner and used their out of the box tune. i then messed around with it a bit and got rid of the rev hang. it definitely helped and im excited to see what it will do when i get a dyno tune but i just havent gotten around to it because the closest tuner is like 2 hours away. i think that the line you are talking about has to do with the VCM or not and since i have a manual i had all the proper lines to connect and didnt have to block off that one port.
there are a couple throttle body adaptors on the market, but I am not sure they are the best because you would have a restriction behind the throttle body due to the size difference.
Quick question before I order this all for my Honda. Did your intake from your stock throttle body fit on the j37 Or you need a new intake to fit it. I was going to order the k&n for my stock manifold and tb but if I change it to the j37 is that going to affect it fitting
The intake will still fit but you will need a new coupler. My takeda intake came with 2 couplers; one for the accord, and one for the acura TL since the intake fits both. I just swapped out the coupler to the second one for the TL. If your intake doesn't come with it you could easily get one from HPS or somewhere.
Yes everything bolted together no problem. Only slight modification was I had to peel back a bit of the tape on the wire harness to give it some more slack to be able to plug back in but no actual extension of the wires was needed.
I had to use one made for the 7th gen accord and widen out the holes to make it fit the 8th gen. I'm not 100% sure that is the same in your case, but likely would work.
I’m jus tryna be sure bro but you has the 3.5l stock throttle body and intake manifold from Honda/Acura and you upgraded too the 3.7 l intake manifold and throttle body
just picked up a 2008 j35 coupe. my goal is to get to the low 300s. open exhaust, cold air intake, tbs, and this intake manifold should do the trick right? and im assuming when i buy the cold air intake and tbs i should purchase them according to the 80mm throttle body, and not the original j35 throttle body size, right?
Low 300s is a lofty goal but what you have suggested will get you pretty close. You will need a tune (k-tuner) and a good tuner might be able to get you over 300. But yes you will need the tbs for the TL or ZDX which have the larger TB.
from what i understand this mod will work on all j-series but i cannot say for sure about your specific engine. i did not have any issues while installing it was a direct bolt on
i have a 3.5L. the 3.7L from the TL sh-awd was rumoured to have the best intake manifold for flow plus it had a much larger throttle body which is why i chose it.
Question, is this the magnesium or aluminum tb ? I have a J35y1(AT) 9th gen, is it straight bolt on ? I’m interested in doing this but want some inquiries on what to buy and where because there is alot out there on the web
Still trying to figure out if this whole upgrade will work on a J35A4 . The throttle body in the kit is drive by wire and i have a cable type. Any advice, anyone?
Hey question I just saw your vid from Google I want to kno where you got the part at I can’t find the manifold anywhere but I can find the throttlebody on eBay for like 70 dollars
hey will. i have the 2012 accord 6x6 and want to buy the kit.. but living in nyc i can always find wreked tl's and rl's .. do you know if the j37 from the rl is the same as the one from the tl??
aoescool I don't know exactly but I would think any 3.7 manifold would work because when I was looking into this there were guys suggesting the zdx manifold and tb as a cheaper option. Personally I stuck to the TL-shawd because I had read that it was the lowest height profile (because I was running the p2r manifold spacer) and that it was the best flowing of the intakes. Also stuck with the the shawd tb because it has an 80mm tb vs the zdx 78mm. However I do know that there are guys that mix and match manifolds and tb's
its actually for the 7th gen accord v6 years 2003-2007. all you need to do to make it fit the 8th gen is drill out the bolt holes for the mounting plate on the strut tower.
So how has the Infiniti/Nissan you sold this car for been treating you? In my opinion all Nissan products after 1999 are junk compared to how they used to be. (long term reliability)
The other lighter a crank so it’s going to spall up more and faster more power people have been getting rods and pistons and shave in the cam on that motor and they saw a big differences they don’t make cams for that car seat at the shave it down
depends what throttle body you go with. if you get the adapter plate to run the oem accord TB than no, but if you run the TL throttle body then yes you will need a new coupler. Fortunately for me my Takeda intake came with both couplers for the accord and the TL so it was very easy for me to swap it out.
you need to disconnect the intake piping, then take off the manifold top plate, then take off the actual manifold. there are 2 guide bolts in the intake runners that you need to use the double nut method to take out. then you can install the manifold spacer between the intake runners and intake manifold, then reinstall the top plate and intake piping.
You cars computer has to relearn after being disconnected form battery, probably needs manual relearning of all the components that can do the relearn process with a diagnostic computer like xtool d8 or something
I’m sorry and I know this is an old video but if anyone could answer this would help a lot. I have a 2012 V6 AT with a Takeda SRI. If I was to install this manifold on my engine would i have to buy a new SRI to fit the manifold?
no i did not have to buy a block off plate because i have the manual transmission j35z3 engine which has the active butterfly valve so i was able to utilize the acura top plate with the butterfly valve as well.

Hondata is the only way you're going to make gains going FBO.
no hondata for the 8th gen accords... i did have ktuner with the base map before i sold it.
Someone make a before and after pull video
Help. A 2nd gen TL 3.5 can take a throttle body, Mani and spacer from a 3.7???
Or next gen RL?
You should get the pulley kit there’s two of them
You lose power steering and a/c with that
What Intake manifold and throttle body from the tsx would be best on my 07 3.0 accord?
I've heard that the TL sh-awd manifold flows the best but can't find any hard data to support that. It does have the largest j-series throttle body though which is why i chose that combo instead of the slightly smaller ZDX set. don't know which would work better for your 3.0 tho
Did you ever dyno it afterwards to see the gains.I'm looking to get the max hp out of bolt on performance.
Dean Swarbrick not yet but getting a custom dyno tune is on my list of things to do this summer
ACCORDingtoWill did you ever find out bro?
No tune required after right on a j32 07 TL?
Hey have you ever Dyno tested this mod? It would be cool to see the results.
Benifits with a tune or not tuned?
Just wondering why did you purchase the top plate kit for the manifold? On heeltoe it says that 2008-2012 V6 Accord Coupe doesn't need it since the oem one can bolt right on. No butterfly valve needed either? Just wanna make sure that's accurate before i purchase the manifold too
you don't need the acura cover but it does have a butterfly valve, i bought it for the coolness factor
@@ACCORDingtoWill thanks for all the tips! The J series community appreciates it lol i see you responding to others even though you sold yours.
@@j35ray no worries bro that's what the car community is all about!
You wouldnt happen to know part#s im very interested in doing this mod on my 2012 v6 accord.
Hey buddy got a question..
Would a J35Y4 engine from a 2015 RLX Fwd fit a 2018 TLX Fwd (J35Y6).
Will it bolt on directly on the tlx transmission?
Hello, did you have to perform a throttle position reset?
no i didnt. i drove the car with just the bolt ons for about a month before i installed the ktuner. the car learned itself how to adjust, but the ktuner definitely helped especially with the rev hang
ACCORDingtoWill which ktuner you got?
One is like 469.00 and the otger is like 649.00 v1 and v1.5 if am not wrong
What would be a good intake upgrade for the 02 j30 not sure if i can do j37 swap or have to go with 35
Your Revs still hanging?
Throttle body will only work if you get the intake manifold also...am i correct?
there are a couple throttle body adaptors on the market, but I am not sure they are the best because you would have a restriction behind the throttle body due to the size difference.
You say this works with all 08 V6 model accords? Wouldn't this mod also work for a 3.2L acura TL type S??
i believe so but do some research to make sure
How come you didn’t throw crank in for V6 3.7 crank
Quick question before I order this all for my Honda. Did your intake from your stock throttle body fit on the j37
Or you need a new intake to fit it.
Hello
I have a question.?
I have 2009 accord v6
I buy the Ingalls damper. But it did not fit
How can you make it fit.? Please help.?
You need to drill out the holes on the bracket that goes under the strut tower bar. Once you do that it will fit no problem
Thank you
Awesome video,
Did you order everything new of a acura website?
jason nystrom hey man I ordered all these from www.heeltoeauto.com. They have a package for the manifold and throttle body.
it a plug and play hookup with the 3.7 intake
Yes everything bolted together no problem. Only slight modification was I had to peel back a bit of the tape on the wire harness to give it some more slack to be able to plug back in but no actual extension of the wires was needed.
I am not able to find the engals torque stiffy for the 4G TL anywhere. is this a 3G model that is interchangeable?
I had to use one made for the 7th gen accord and widen out the holes to make it fit the 8th gen. I'm not 100% sure that is the same in your case, but likely would work.
Do you have a manifold spacer too. You can also change the crank to the CRV crank
yes i have the p2r manifold spacer. which CRV had a v6? and what are the benefits of changing the crank?
I’m jus tryna be sure bro but you has the 3.5l stock throttle body and intake manifold from Honda/Acura and you upgraded too the 3.7 l intake manifold and throttle body
yes that is correct, along with the P2R manifold spacer and thermal gaskets
just picked up a 2008 j35 coupe. my goal is to get to the low 300s. open exhaust, cold air intake, tbs, and this intake manifold should do the trick right? and im assuming when i buy the cold air intake and tbs i should purchase them according to the 80mm throttle body, and not the original j35 throttle body size, right?
Low 300s is a lofty goal but what you have suggested will get you pretty close. You will need a tune (k-tuner) and a good tuner might be able to get you over 300. But yes you will need the tbs for the TL or ZDX which have the larger TB.
cool thanks. I figured 300 was a realistic goal, without having to go too crazy. I have heard a lot of good things about ktuner, i'll look into it
Did you dyno your car before and after this install?
will it fit on a j32a2 engine? did you encounter any issues while installing it?
from what i understand this mod will work on all j-series but i cannot say for sure about your specific engine. i did not have any issues while installing it was a direct bolt on
ACCORDingtoWill What engine do you have?
Yes it does fit, but you'll need a B-series TB + an adapter, and the IMRC won't work.
There is a video of a guy who did it on his 3.2
I could put this one to my Honda Accord coupe 2008 v6 auto right ?? Just double checking
yes you could
Wait if 3.7 is upgrade so it means that your engine is smaller, right? 3.2; 3.5? Or also 3.7 but you installed better one?
i have a 3.5L. the 3.7L from the TL sh-awd was rumoured to have the best intake manifold for flow plus it had a much larger throttle body which is why i chose it.
Did you have any trouble with the hoses being too short when reattaching after install?
they were tight but i made it work. I did cut a bit of the tape back to make it fit better.
Question, is this the magnesium or aluminum tb ? I have a J35y1(AT) 9th gen, is it straight bolt on ? I’m interested in doing this but want some inquiries on what to buy and where because there is alot out there on the web
It's magnesium.. Weighs like 7 pounds compared to the 25 pounds aluminum intake of the j32a3
Still trying to figure out if this whole upgrade will work on a J35A4 . The throttle body in the kit is drive by wire and i have a cable type. Any advice, anyone?
Gaza A.D heeltoeauto is making a converted kit to use on older j engines
Is this manifold and throttle body worth putting on a j35y2
Hey question I just saw your vid from
Google I want to kno where you got the part at I can’t find the manifold anywhere but I can find the throttlebody on eBay for like 70 dollars
I got everything from HeelToe Automotive. They are very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions you may have.
hey will. i have the 2012 accord 6x6 and want to buy the kit.. but living in nyc i can always find wreked tl's and rl's .. do you know if the j37 from the rl is the same as the one from the tl??
aoescool I don't know exactly but I would think any 3.7 manifold would work because when I was looking into this there were guys suggesting the zdx manifold and tb as a cheaper option.
COOL.. earlier i saw a 2010 tl shwd totaled in jersey.. gonna hit them up and see if they can let the manifold go for cheap!!
ya man go for it, that is the way to get these parts cheap
do i need 3.7 TB for a 3.7 intake manifold, for my o8 type s manual trans
Is installing an 09+ 3.7 manifold possible on a J32A1 from a 2000 TL?
as far as i know yes its possible to put this mod on any j-series
Will that 2008 Acura TL intake mess up the transmission it a 2004. If change it out
how much less gas does ur car have now? does it kill alot
Se puede poner un motor automático a un honda Accord V6 J35Z3 estándar o que motor se le puede adaptar ?
Where did you get the angle damper? Am trying to find it
its actually for the 7th gen accord v6 years 2003-2007. all you need to do to make it fit the 8th gen is drill out the bolt holes for the mounting plate on the strut tower.
So how has the Infiniti/Nissan you sold this car for been treating you? In my opinion all Nissan products after 1999 are junk compared to how they used to be. (long term reliability)
Will this modification fit a 3.2l acura tl?
tony gordillo yes
Nice setup man im gonna go the same way did u get the non resonated version on the atlp system?
where did you buy the manifold and throttlebody they look new
Yes they are new. I bought them from www.heeltoeauto.com. They have a great package deal for the manifold, throttle body and gaskets.
The other lighter a crank so it’s going to spall up more and faster more power people have been getting rods and pistons and shave in the cam on that motor and they saw a big differences they don’t make cams for that car seat at the shave it down
Was there any kind of smoke after you did the installments?
there was no smoke from these parts
Do you have the J pipe deleted cats 3 inch or 2 1/2 all the way back to single stock exhaust
stock pre cats, atlp j-pipe and 2.5" atlp quad exhaust
Did you need to do anything to get your intake to fix?
depends what throttle body you go with. if you get the adapter plate to run the oem accord TB than no, but if you run the TL throttle body then yes you will need a new coupler. Fortunately for me my Takeda intake came with both couplers for the accord and the TL so it was very easy for me to swap it out.
How is the intake manifold spacer installed?
you need to disconnect the intake piping, then take off the manifold top plate, then take off the actual manifold. there are 2 guide bolts in the intake runners that you need to use the double nut method to take out. then you can install the manifold spacer between the intake runners and intake manifold, then reinstall the top plate and intake piping.
Did you see any gains
Would this work with the 2004-2007 v6 Vue? You may say, um that's a Saturn... little fact, the 2004-2007 v6 Vue has a j35 in it.
JM811Cars I did not know that but if it has a j-series then this mod should work
JM811Cars the 4cyl vues were k24 engines as well lol
MrJk009 no they were not.
MrJk009 the 2.2 and 2.4L 4 cylinder Vues have Cobalt motors in them, not Honda motors.
4cylinder vues were ecotec. still probably the most bulletproof 4cyl that gm ever made though, look at all the Cavaliers still on the road.
Was the 3.7l intake bolted onto a 3.5?
Yes
@@bigwillyt87 Thanks
Will this mod work on a J35S1. Saturn Vue with Honda 3.5L engine/transmission.
as far as i know it will work on all j series
Noticeable power difference?
butt dyne said yes
You cars computer has to relearn after being disconnected form battery, probably needs manual relearning of all the components that can do the relearn process with a diagnostic computer like xtool d8 or something
Where did u bought those?
Doing the same thing as we speak
I’m sorry and I know this is an old video but if anyone could answer this would help a lot. I have a 2012 V6 AT with a Takeda SRI. If I was to install this manifold on my engine would i have to buy a new SRI to fit the manifold?
Heeltoeauto sells HPS couplers for your Takeda Intake that will allow you to run it with the J37 throttle body.
Did you ever DONO it yet to see if there was gains for HP and torque?
So is it worth it??
Did you have to purchase the block off plate for the side of the manifold where the butterfly actuator would go?
no i did not have to buy a block off plate because i have the manual transmission j35z3 engine which has the active butterfly valve so i was able to utilize the acura top plate with the butterfly valve as well.
ACCORDingtoWill I gotcha. Thanks bro
i also have a 08 accord v6 6 speed , do we need to get the car tuned after this mod?
you don't have to but you will get more out of this mod if you do
hey one quick question, will this mod work in a 2007 acura RL? thanx and good video
jonny aguirre I believe this will work with all j-series
ACCORDingtoWill , oh ok, ill look to do this upgrade, thanks 👍
How much does a swap like this cost
Hey will this fit my 2010 exl coupe by auto. I want to do ktuner as well.
Jomar Roman yes as long as your a V6
Do you think it’s worth also getting a 3.7 head
Doubt it. Best power adders for these are boost
