I think a big problem of the widowmaker is that is doesn’t return ammo on disguised spies. A lot of weapons work like this, but this one really suffers from it, because it makes fighting disguised spies who just won’t attack a pain in the ass. Additionally, inlike most other weapons, you won’t shoot across the map just to confirm a player is a spy, because it’s not worth the metal.

Blocking sentry shots with a dispenser. Wish I had thought of doing that earlier today :(
That minisentry was pretty much only good for telling Dane when people are coming up to kill him back there, to be honest. It goes down so frequently.
I actually do that a lot with minies. I leave them in places where enemies would go to get at my nest and they tell me when I'm in danger.
+natchu96 Pretty much. Minis are meant to be disposable anyway, so using one as a backdoor alarm makes sense. Kind of like dropping an inactive teleporter entrance at spawn to use as a spawncamp alarm, only in this case the alarm can shoot back.
I always prefer mini's because I don't like having to be closely tied to my sentry, I like being able to run around.
I feel like mini's are the most versatile. I like to post them in positions that cover our team's flank. If you have a battle front, a mini can be posted towards the back of this battle front to protect from flank maneuvers.
Lord Crazaak I would argue that Rescue Ranger/Jag is a more versatile setup for putting sentries in weird or annoying spots, but I guess it depends on how much back and forth the fight is doing. I tend to have much better luck by setting a level 1 quickly with the Jag and using the Ranger to move it around a few good spots once it's gotten a couple kills and they know where it is.
+natchu96 Speaking of, anyone else think the minis got nerfed into the ground?
