Thanks Bob glad you enjoyed enough to stay to the end! Yes reminiscent of Bude and Biggin Hill I thought, although they probably didn’t get up that sort of speed?!
I’m blown away by the level of detail here, especially with the synchronisation which seems to be accurate even down to the level of the train and it’s composition of bogies behind the loco. Outstanding!
Many thanks for watching Gerard, that’s very astute of you to notice and much appreciated for you to say so. I do go to a lot, (probably too much 😂) effort to try and get those sorts of details right.
Well that’s easy, you listen to the sound track count the click Any clacks = No. of bogies, so put them on your train but getting the speed right must be a nightmare.
Absolutely breath-taking! I had to remind myself more than once that this is a model railway. The level of detail is fantastic. And I love the shot of two trains at 9:56.
Incredible video for #spamfest, the weathering in particular is exceptional. This weekend was just brilliant with the community on here and Instagram showing their support for Bulleid’s magnificent machines. Keep up the fantastic work!
A great combo yeah and the blue really suits the original Bulleids I reckon. If it was staying longer I would have filmed it on the pullmans too with Devon Belle headboard and observation car.
I'm stunned by the utter brilliance of this spectacular video as it's of the finest model railway videos I've ever seen, and I instantly subscribed. Extraordinary is an understatement... The lighting is as spot-on as lighting gets as it initially had me do a double take and watch more closely as I thought that it was footage of an actual prototype on a sunny day. Supreme weathering indeed. The layout is GORGEOUS and those buildings, how I also love British architecture. Last but certainly not least, the magnificent camera work, angles, closeups, camera chasing the trains and the SOUNDTRACK, this really was a Hollywood production from start to finish. Who was the director Abrams, Cameron, Nolan or Spielberg??? Utterly SUPERB!!!!
It's amazing seeing all the Bulleid pacifics for #Spamfest I'm not confident in my skills to weather anything myself yet but your fleet looks incredible
Thanks very much! This fleet was only together temporarily as most were being weathered for customers and they are back home now. Nice to have them all here at once though! Good luck 🤞
A lovely run of the various liveries on these locos. I'm equally impressed with your layout, too, as it looks marvellous as I watch the scenics pass by on the video.
Unthinkable that people once upon a time thought the Spamcans were "ugly". Excellent footage of models with prototypical rakes, expecially loved the parcel train. #Spamfest!
#SpamFest I have complied with the comp rules so hope it's enough to be in with a shout. Love what you manage to pull off here outstanding chum . Like you and many other, I just love Spamcans and have a few, cheers Paul at Sandling Junction.

Beyond the top notch worth of Neville Grove in its whole, the movie is beautiful! So illusive of reality that it took me eight minutes to figure out there wasn't smoke.
Fantastic video, some great detailing but the water in the canal is the same level before the lock, in the lock and after the lock! Thank you for your time in making, editing and sharing👍
Thanks for watching, not sure what you mean about the lock, 🤔 but I don’t think both levels were shown here, it drops by about an inch and a half to go under the steel girder railway bridge. The lock gate is open at the top, so the level in the lock is the same as in the top pound (both a lot higher than the lower pound).
@@NEVILLEGROVE Watching a second time, (which was just as pleasant as the first time) I can see you are quite correct. As mother used to say "look before you leap" I apologise, please put it down to the wrong angle, a small screen and old age.👍

I love the history behind the Spamcans. They started out as a sneaky way for Bullied to get around war restrictions and became some of the finest Express locomotives on the entire British network. And while they looked beautiful both in and out of their air-smoothed casing, I do prefer the air-smoothed look. It's great to see them getting their own special weekend. Happy #spamfest
@@NEVILLEGROVE Thank you for wishing me luck, it was really fun to spend the weekend forgetting about exams and just watching these magnificent machine thunder by. Happy #spamfest to you and to everyone who took part.
Would have loved to have had Bude for the last shit of the double headers - reminiscent of the last Special over the S&D with 34006. The owner of many of the Bulleids in this video has just purchased Bude because of its long deflectors, you never know he might send that for weathering one day too…
Absolutely stunning locomotives builled majestic merchant navy #spamfest. Would love to win it for my father who loved the southern region in 50s and 60s living around Bristol and Devon area.
The trains are awesome, but the way you captured them made me write this. The sound, the framing, the cuts, the way you follow gives them such mass and presence. I don't even like running trains videos with the exception of Oscar Paisley who raises "Toy" trains to a new level.

Looks great! I've always found the term 'unrebuilt' amusing as it's completely redundant as every locomotive ever built that didn't have any extensive rebuilding should be called unrebuilt. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't seem to be a term applied to the streamlined Stanier Coronations before their equally dramatic transformation. Anyway, the Spamcans look great!
Very good point. They should be always be described as per Mr Bulleid....air smoothed and designed to go through carriage washers. Revolutionary locos sadly wrecked by backward lookward natiionalised British Railways.
@@johnabbott9401 Indeed, although I presume the oil-filled, chain valve gear housing being problematic as well as fires occuring inside the casing caused by the leaking oil and accumulations of brake dust, etc. influenced BR's decision, but one wonders whether these things couldn't have been rectified. Also, the rebuilts suffered from hammer-blow which the 'unrebuilts' 😊 didn't. I do find the rebuilt MC/BB and MN attractive too though.
Very true and thank you! Regarding the Staniers, I suppose they had very little mechanical modifications, effectively just the cosmetic streamlined casing, whereas the rebuilt Bulleids had many of the original mechanical features replaced - not least the chain driven valve gear. The visual transformation was indeed just as dramatic though, if not more so!
Love it , how can anyone think a spam can was ugly. I noticed with the merchant navy class has three types of body 1 the original with no smoke deflectors and widows peak front. 2 the original update with smoke deflectors, redesigned cab and more traditional spamcan look. Then the rebuild. When I look at these locomotives and if you didn't know you, you would have thought that they had been built in reverse.
There are also many detail differences too, even in the spamcans with deflectors too. For example the front valance is sometimes cut away on later versions, the safety valve arrangement and tender types. Hornby have done a great job in replicating these details 👏
Yes your so right I noticed the smoke deflectors on Blackmore Vale, Exeter and Bude are like small, medium and large. Lovely fleet of spam cans you have
#spamfest #spam #spam #spam #spam #spamityspamwonderfulspam Even though I’d class myself as a Midland man, these don’t ‘alf look absolutely belting!! Awesome film as always. Imagine what you can do with 6 37’s!! 😉
Hi David, yeah it was a very short lived colour scheme as it didn’t weather very well. I think all the Blue SpamCans had gone by the early 1950’s and all of the Merchant Navy’s had been rebuilt by 1959 (the “Light Pacifics” never wore the blue). You would have seen some great stuff though!
Ah just another one. In Woking the Odeon cinema was very close to the station & when I was courting my future wife we were sometimes in there when one of these passed through & I tell you that cinema literally shook as it streaked towards Waterloo or the west country. My god what days they were.
