WEATHERED DELTIC’S THRASH IT OUT - 5 Accurascale Deltic’s & Bachmann V2

- As promised, here are lots of lovely new Accurascale Deltics, 6 of them actually and each with different details, weathering and identities.
Each one is featured chronologically, and the beauty of first generation diesels is that they started their careers when steam was still king on British Railways.
A custom weathered K1 and V2 are in action to provide that fascinating contrast that co-existed for several years between the steam age and the modern era.
By the end of the 1960's all steam had disappeared on British Railways, and the Deltics were gradually evolving with minor modifications and livery variations. But the Deltics, now classified as 55's, continued to work the services they were designed for - crack expresses on the East Coast Mainline right up until their withdrawal in the early 1980's.
Many thanks again to @MrTBrearley and Tom @DeHavilandTMD for sending their Deltics for weathering.
Archive sounds are used with kind permission from Old Thundridge Records, alongside recordings of Deltics in action in preservation.
Not only one of the greatest model railroads on RUclips, but also artistic and educational. I've been a loyal follower of yours for years now, and I'm still surprised by each and every one of your videos. Thanks for all the outstanding work. Greetings from Argentina.
Thank you for coming along for the ride! Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for the very kind words 👍

Cheers Allen 👍
Spectacular running session, with weathered Trains👍♐️
Thanks, yeah it was fun!
Sir, I salute you and thank you. What a superbly thought out, arranged and assembled scene. Your camera angles, direction and footage also enhance the whole viewing experience too, very well done. You are indeed an inspiration and an example to me and others, it's very much appreciated. Thank you for providing some quality viewing relief on RUclips.
Wow thank you sir for the amazing comment! I’m glad you appreciate and enjoy these videos, it’s very satisfying to hear 👍👍👍
Yes, I’m with Liskwithiel Road … superb … thank you 🙏
Thanks Nigel 👍
That's an awful lot of Deltics! Superb!
Thanks! 6 in total, 5 are visitors to my weathering studio - the green one is mine.
@@NEVILLEGROVE very impressive 👍😊😊
I'm a steam enthusiast through and through but I have admit that the Deltics did have character. It must take hours to produce these videos and I'm torn between seeing how you produce them and, on the other hand, maintaining the magic of it all. The audio recordings you use are excellent and take me back to Darlington station in the late sixties. Love that V2 as well, its perfect,
Thanks as ever Steve! I must admit I am slightly reluctant to dispel the illusion by allowing a peek behind the scenes! But it has long been an intention to upload a “how to” video so probably will one day!
Most enjoyable and a great layout to run them on.
Thank you very much indeed! 👍👍👍
Accurascale’s Deltics are superb models and look awesome with Steve’s brilliant weathering! What a great video! 👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Tom for letting your beautiful models star in this video.
A wonderful video. So informative and in the proper panoramic landscape format that we want. Very well done!
Thanks Adrian, glad you enjoyed 👍
Suddenly I'm on the platform at Kings Cross or York again. Thank you.
Wow that’s great to hear thank you!
What a stunning layout! I am deeply impressed. Greetings from Germany
Beautiful weathering 🤩😍 and as always, fantastic camera work!
Thanks very much indeed! Glad you enjoyed it.
Stunning footage as per ... and brilliant weathering on all the locos too.
Awesome thank you for watching and for the kind words 👍
Blimey that has to be one of the best model videos I have seen! Nice camera work!
Cheers Paul, hopefully you’ll enjoy my other videos just as much 👍
Awesome and some fabulous camera work too ! 😎😎😎
Cheers Michael 👍
Wow, I mean seriously WOW! Deltic heaven. As I have said before, great layout, visually stunning, subtle weathering of stock & great soundtrack too. Top drawer.
Thank you very much for all the great comments! Glad you’ve joyed this one too 👍👍👍
Another cracking production Steve, superb weathering and sound track throughout and always a pleasure to watch, cheers 👍👍👍
Thanks Nige, much appreciated 👍
Great video as always. The little bits of information are excellent
Cool thanks! Now I know atleast someone reads them!
Beautiful videography
Thanks very much John 👍
The tracking shots are awesome thanks.
Cheers! They’re always fun! 😊
F*****g awesome 👍👍
🤘Cheers Kevvy!
Wow the sounds are awesome and the weathering is just superb.
Cheers Denis glad you enjoyed the sounds and approve of the weathering, thanks for watching 👍
I have never seen a Deltic in real life, but judging by how amazing they look here my expectations are high! I shall be seeing 55009 at the Severn valley not too long from now.
Cool! They look great and sound even better! A Deltic working hard is an experience you’ll never forget - hope you get to see / hear that but on the SVR it will be operating well within its capabilities.
@@NEVILLEGROVE I rode behind 55009 through Bewdley Tunnel and my god the sound! AND THE CLAG!!! I had a throbbing headache afterwards, and the coach was full of smoke because of the loco!
Always amazing videos from Neville Grove, thank you!
Awesome thank you very much! 😊
Some great loco sounds there, luv the Deltics. your layout is fabulous wish mine will be at least to half the standard of yours.
Great video as always matey. All the Deltics looking amazing at different stages of weathering.
Cheers fella, really appreciate you taking the time and watching 🙌
Superb
Thanks very much Paul, glad you enjoyed.
My favorite BR loco along with the Class 25
Fantastic video 👏
Cheers Dan! 👍
another great vid in the late 60s 52b was still a signing on point on one visit i cab d9013 and a clayton type1 52b whas never the same when all the stored steam locos had left
Thanks William, sounds like some terrific memories you have there! The railways must have been a magical place with steam / early diesels.
I’ve got to say first up, I’m not really a fan of Deltics😱…..
But, & it’s a big but…..what a beautiful sound they make - raw power & it’s hard not to love that about the class.
Some of the angles you’ve managed to shoot here are magnificent, it’s nice to see some different parts of the layout too.
All I can do is congratulate you on another stunning edit of both shots & sounds.
It seems like Accurascale have produced another top notch model as per usual, I’m almost tempted😉
Thanks for doing what you do👍👏👏👏
Cheers John b😎
Thanks John for the great comment, I know what you mean, traditionally for they never fitted in with my focus of interest, but there is undeniably something very charismatic about them - and for me the sound is a big part of that too. This model is stunning and has certainly helped peak my interest in the class - I’m definitely now a fan!
My word! 961's valve events are a bit out! Goose bumps nonetheless!
They sound brilliant Steve. I have Nimbus with sound but still haven't run it so to hear the sound yet on my DCC powered rolling road. I've run it on DC and there is no sound. Accurascale has given me the CV values to get the sound working in DC
Thanks very much. One of these was sound fitted and it was very impressive indeed. However it’s dubbed over with real world sounds for continuity with the others.
I never saw a Deltic at full chat (living in Berkshire didn't help), only accelerating out of King's Cross on the odd occasion I went up there train spotting at the age of 13, which was obviously still hugely impressive, so it's interesting to hear what they sounded like.
Bonjour, Stunning footage and very nice 'photographie'. The weathering on the locomotives is really outstanding. Do you run DC or DCC ? Thanks for sharing this most enjoyable video production. Happy model railroding. Cheers, Filip
Thanks Philip! The layout is DCC big I can switch over to DC for very limited running (all trains on the layout run at the same time and direction!)
What a fabulous layout from a ex secondman BR 70s on that note is there any chance of driver and secondman being installed on your deltics.
Thank you very much! Yeah I think I will fit crew to my one, but all the others are visiting from customers. It is a service I can provide if requested 👍
Personally I think the Deltic's come the closest to the majesty of the A4's, Coronation's and King's. Lovely.
Thanks very much, yes they are very charismatic diesels - partly cos they sound so awesome I reckon.🔥
Hi - Have recently subscribed after being most impressed by your weathering results. May I ask, do you use ‘Klear’ to obtain the sheen on your locos such as the A4, and if so where do you get it? Also do you apply via an airbrush or with brush? Have also seen it done using T Cut and polished with a nylon brush. Many thanks in anticipation.
Thanks very much for watching and subscribing, much appreciated! Yes I have had some for years. I believe you can still get it but it is under a different name these days - alternatively I have successfully used Humbrol clear gloss and an equivalent by Mig Ammo. Hope this helps.
Oh and airbrush for most projects, but hand brush for a really glossy museum finish.
Many thanks 🙏
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
@@NEVILLEGROVE 😂
apart from the amazing line up deltics you have you have quite an amazing layout .....................tony
Cheers Tony! Only one of these is mine - the rest are just passing through the weathering studio 👍👍👍
Off-topic: By the end of this year, all 40 SR Bulleid Q1 locomotives were 80 years old. 🎉
Time flies!
I have an HO scale Jinty that I bought when I visited England, and now it doesn't work, and I can't figure out why. I'm hoping you have some tips on any problems I should look for?
Not really I’m afraid I’m no expert on getting locos to work again, I’ll be taking mine to Roxley Models here in the UK. You may have to do the same wherever you live but they’ll likely need it in front of them to diagnose the problem.
Deltic’s what?
TOPS adopted from 1973/4.
Thanks, as far as I’m aware the TOPS system was commissioned in 1971 but the Deltics did not receive number changes until 1973 / 1974.
@@NEVILLEGROVE My spotting period was 1969 until 1972/3. There were no TOPS numbered locos while I was spotting. I stopped spotting partly because of the change of numbering system. As a spotty teenager I found it confusing, especially with the numbering of the Peaks.
Anyhow, the important thing is, another superb video and stunning weathering.
Thanks,
Bob
