  • We're thrilled that the Connecticut Trolley Museum will be restoring this all original 1962 GM PD4106! Through the efforts of Brad Kelly, he donated the funds for the museum to purchase the bus from the owner. The bus was missing it's starter and had been sinking into the lawn for about four years. We installed a donated starter, some fresh batteries and she fired right off!

I recall riding in one of these to Myrtle Beach in the mid 70's from D.C.

Great to see them come out of the holes, ain't it? Hammer down! The old Detroit looks just as it should. How well did it fare once up to operating tenp and a good run down the road? Looks like the kneeling valve is engaged?

Hey Jeff - an update - the bus will be on the road (hopefully) to the CT Trolley museum on Saturday, September 1st - so we'll see how it takes being on the road. The museum guys are driivng it, we can't make it there for the trip. BTW, this guy isn't a kneeler, just has a persistent air leak somewhere up that no one has tracked down yet.

I'm looking at a 4106 with a possible bad starter. What did you have to do to access the starter? I know it's on the back side of the engine and you can't get to it from underneath the bus.
