International Harvester TD5 Crawler Finally Running after 15 Years

- This is a 1959 McCormick International TD5 crawler. The poor thing hasn't really been running in about 15 years, but was stored inside or covered up for most of that time. The engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago but never ran. The injector pump and injectors were rebuilt about 5 years ago. The main clutch and steering clutches were done, too, but it sat so long everything rusted solid. It took me several weekends (and one new set of steering clutch fibers) to get her moving again. The hydraulics are finished now and all that's left to do is install the grader blade and loosen up some seized pins!

hi..my dad has a td5 but it eont steer left ..any idea??
What part of the world is it located in? They were exported to Australia & New Zealand. In the USA they usually had the "International" name badges whereas in other markets they were badged as "McCormick International"
Nice job on getting her going sounds good. We had a TD5 on the farm for doing everything from road grading to plowing. Sadly was stolen from the farm in the 1980s.
Thank you too! You speak the truth in saying not too many' . In fact there is ONE. I started looking for a bit of info and this is the first [and only UTube]that is not about the wrong thing. Must be rare. I hope I can find a clip of it with the blade on and working??????????? (HOPE!)
McCormick makes it a BTD5 does it not ? TD being the Farmall IH U.S.A. models?
So...ze cheap, Chinese-made plastic tarp ("Plastic Roofs" they are derisively called here), at the end, is for catching oil/hydraulic fluid...or for ze romantic rendezvous with a maid? "Come to ze Woods to see my tractor", indeed! (Shades of 'Little Red Riding Hood'.) J'adore !
Amélie Renoncule My .. God "! how inconsiderate to bed a lass down in the bushes on a plastic sheet? Hydraulic oil hopefully Amelie ! But whatever floats yuh boat .
Perhaps both???
The BTD-5 was an equivalent British built model. (B = British)
There was also an equivalent German built DTD-5 (D = Deutschland)
The diesel powered TD-5 was Canadian built as were the gasoline powered T-5 and T-4 crawlers
The TD-5 was exported whereas the other models stayed within their local markets.
The TD-5 was reasonably popular here in Australia.
The International "500" crawler replaced the TD-5 & T-5
Not just running. Running like a champ!
I have the exact same TD5. Rebuilt with nearly zero hours on it. I also have a 4 way blade. I dont have the handle on the left that sticks up. Wonder what that does?
That's a talk amplifier lever. It has hi low in every gear. Can change without clutch.
Mine has it but not working.
They had a reverser box to. Where you had all gears in reverse.
nice work!!
Nice video, my father had a 1962 IH TD5 (not McCormick, but our square baler was a McCormick though), with the outside-frame blade (the cylinders were inside the tracks on the tip of the triangular braces we see on yours, but the pivot point and arms were outside of the tracks). My father choose this setup based on old timers comments; if you lose one track, you can use the frame to help get the track back on on the dozer's own power, no need to start wrenching.
He used his dozer to haul wood out of the forest.

@@genesilva7604 Sorry, my father parted out with it around 20 years ago. I'd have kept it but now I live in a city and didn't have room for it. Good luck!
