I am watching this during 2019. This was the 1st coachella I bought tickets with my own money, instead of sneaking in with my high school buddies.
The Strokes was the reason I bought tickets...could not risk not getting into the festival. Two years before I wasn't able to see The Cure. Anyways, I wish Coachella comes back to its roots eventually. It used to be Rock and indie bands.

underated concert
jules can still hit all of the same notes that he always could. it's weird though, because in this concert & also their one in bonnaroo he sounds like he's struggling to hit them. but i've watched other videos from their most recent tours & performances and he is doing perfectly fine, except for those two videos he sounds so strained! it makes me sad though because in this video you can easily tell that he starts to get irritated that he can't quite hit those notes & you can hear how hard he's trying. but no matter what, jules is still perfect & so is the rest of the strokes. best band ever in my eyes. perfect.
I never watched this concert before. In fact it seems to me, as if he was a little sick. You can hear it even when he speaks
I have seen him reach more difficult notes easily, notes that in this concert effectively cost him a lot of work or lost.

That's what I think, but maybe not haha, because there's a real difference between 2006 and today. But Jules can sing really high note today.
Does he still smoke? Cus you guys should know that smoking usually is the killer of many great voices...

They opened with my two favourite Strokes songs! Amazing.

i'm not sure it's drinking that helps, i think it actually damages your voice. For example, Liam Gallagher of Oasis
Drinking and smoking fucks up your voice. See: Paul Banks, Interpol. In the short-term, it can give you a lazy shortcut growl, but in the long term, it cuts your vocal range and roughs up your voice in a bad way.

I think it's because he drank AND smoked for a while,
In interviews he claimed he smoked because he wanted to "dirty up his lungs" for singing, but now that he's been 'howling' while singing for so long, it's just a matter of his voice slowly straining.

it's actually very similar to Jack White. His voice is the same, when he was in the White Stripes he would constantly yell and howl. When he's solo, his voice is very strained, very evident in Broken Boy Soldier
I think Julian can't sing those songs anymore. He used to drink a lot so he had a really powerful voice but he stopped drinking, so he has difficulties singning some songs like Juicebox.
