      @@andrej8377 Looking back on it, the setlist is great and I enjoyed hearing the new tunes but I can't lie, from MOST people there was something of a feeling of disappointment about the place because Humbug was like three days old at this point so a looottttaaa people didn't know the tunes and were hoping for the energetic kids to come on and tear it up as they had done in years gone by. Still, I really enjoyed it, but I think perhaps they would've won a LOT more of the crowd over if they'd chucked in Mardy Bum near the end, yknow?

      I say this as a huge Arctic Monkeys fan, who was at this show, and liked humbug.... it was a really poor setlist, for the time and place.
      The album was out for less than a week, and this was a Saturday night festival headline set. Nobody knew the new songs and it really flattened the crowd after a storming set by the Prodigy. Something which the band themselves have since acknowledged that they got wrong.

    • @DanielVlogs2602

    This was such a mature, deep sound for the monkeys. Saw them back in 09 and they were incredible, smooth and cold. Saw them the other week and it was far more of a show, a stellar performance from the whole band.

    • @dieselbaby
      @dieselbaby 11 месяцев назад

      lmao don't lie to yourself, no one likes their "new style", they suck now compared to how they used to be. At least the only people I have seen saying they liked it are girls who think Alex is hot and will say whatever. Their music now is boring AF and it's basically just Alex trying to be a lame solo act as some kind of cheesed out 70s singer. I didn't even mind "Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino", it was actually a pretty fun album, as a once-off concept type thing, it certainly grew on me. At least there were songs on there that had guitar and were catchy. But "The Car"? Hell no, talk about a pile of dog crap, was shocked that a band like the Monkeys would put out something that subpar.
      Really hope that they see the light and get back in the studio with Josh Homme again and make some magic, the world needs it, and so does the band, desperately.

      crazy, but then you realise that every album since then has been the most sold and profitable rock album of the year. With Favourite Worst Nightmare, Humbug, Suck It And See, AM, TBHC, all being the number one albums of the year in the UK with Suck It And See, AM, TBHC all being successes in the USA too. Their last album was the second best album of 2022, but narrowly behind Taylor Swift (who's considered one of the best artists of all time)...
      It's mad how a boy who got a guitar for christmas would be a lead singer for one of the mist successful bands of all time and most certainly one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Every album theyve released have been massive hits.

      @bill4665 Год назад +1

      @@04mdsimps yeah ik. but theres no denying that Arctic Monleys got better. A prime example of this is what theyre doing now. They went from indie rock, to a more defined indie rock, to a heavy rock in humbug, to pop rock in suck it and see, to modern rock in AM that was so good it revitalised rock itself. to knowing they didnt need more money, so they started making what they wanted rather than being obsessed with reviews. Whatever People Say I Am Thats Whay I'm Not will always be great, hell my best and favourite memories are from that album, but you cant deny that they're music making ability and songs got bettter afterwards. And the sales show that. Crying Lightning is still one of their best songs, so is Do I Wanna Know. Theyre both amazing pieces of work and some of their best bcs theyre such difficult tunes to sing to, they mean a lot of the time theyre singing while playing complicated riffs but they do it so well, those songs also allow them to develop and insert new pieces into them while playing live. Body Paint, Mirrorball, and Sculptures are undoubtedly the best sings theyve made. They're not my favourites but i still love them bcs theyre so well made. Theyve got such a defined and brilliant sound now, and Alex Turner's lyric writing got better. Alex even said he doesnt like playing Dancefloor bcs its lyrics are repetitive and same-y. Theyve developed and are objectively better than they were in 2006.We all have our favourites, and thats why theyre so great. They change up theyre sound every album. But objectively theyre a lot better than they were in 2006. And theres no denying it. Even if 2006 hadnt have been as great, they still wouldve improved and been a good rock band, they just wouldnt have broke America as quickly if at all.

    I was one of those people who only knew one of their songs (Do I Wanna Know), thinking that that was their only good song... how wrong I was. I got to see them live and grew the biggest love for them, but I have started to get really upset with their musical development (which is still amazing, but obviously completely different to songs like those on the Humbug album, or No Buses, or Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts). I love them, so much! But I just hope that they don't lose their British style, in relation to their personalities and music and fall into a commercialised, Californian version.
