    Holts Brook? Ah, it’s a swedish axe brand! Cool! And then, the little axe, and then the clothes... It’s almost as if you were shopping in a local outdoor equipment store here in Sweden! Thanks for the endorsement! (But it’s quality stuff, so I understand why)

      @@FustbierThese are premium products, so they're not cheap. I don't know how you're what exchange rates you get, prices in SEK. Pants 1699kr, big axe 480kr, small axe 1399kr (the small one is more of a recreational product than the ordinary one, didn't find it at the hardware store)

    I actually have a GB hatchet that I use for shavings for fires and spoon carving. I plan on getting the bow saw that you recommend, that looks like it could be a real important piece of equipment for me to keep with me in my truck here in New England unless I plan on carrying a chainsaw with me everywhere.
    I carry a fixed blade knife with me at all time, everywhere I go on my belt, but I prefer supporting my local blade forgers. I think a good fixed blade knife is the number 1 thing a person should have in their kit.
    I love seeing the gear that you use and how you use it. I enjoy getting new ideas of things that I may need to add. Loving the videos dude, stay safe!

    I've done the truck camping , then the Jeep Wrangler 4 wheel style. Then I reverted back to the way I did it as a kid. Try parking your Van and go with a Backpack doing the " Leave No Trace " style. Or what's called " Take only pictures , leave only footprints" You'd be surprised at what you don't need to have a good experience. There's a satisfaction I get ( probably because it's my secret ) when breaking camp and knowing no one will ever know I have ever been there. NO I'M NOT A TREE HUGER BY ANY MEANS. Just someone who likes to leave things as I found them. Yes , I do have a fire ( both cooking and relaxing ) but it's in a backpacking wood burning stove with only dead or/and downed wood.

    For what you spent on that Schrade and kydex sheath you could have gotten an ESEE knife. Made in the USA 1095 high carbon steel with one of the best heat treatments in the business good stock sheath and a no questions asked unlimited lifetime warranty. You break it they replace it no matter how you broke the knife.

    • @LivingTheVanLife
      @LivingTheVanLife  4 года назад

      I have an Esee 5 as new edition to vanlife. However it doesn’t quite have the length needed for comfortable batoning through firewood. And it was about twice the price.

    • @jdm8577
      @jdm8577 4 года назад

      Living The Van Life The ESEE Junglas II would remedy the length issue and can baton quite well. The ESEE 5 does well for me even though it’s a shorter blade also because it acts like a wedge due to the saber grind and the thickness.

    1) What is the belt sheath you used for your Trayvax knife? Does it fit all belts?
    2) Do you have a video of you wrapping paracord around the Travax or the head of your axe (seen in B roll)? Your wrap is very clean, I’d like to learn that.
