Heyo everyone! Just thought I'd link a couple runs that were done with new strats that I'd like to share! I'll be doing runs with both of these new routes since I think they're pretty unique! Baefeather's 1:05:57 - www.twitch.tv/videos/2056414316 This run uses Hamarhraft to deal damage to Myrkul, by flying a few feet around him each time with extremely long flight distance making the fight very fast. It also recruits Astarion for a lot of dice roll checks to get gold quickly, along with getting a hireling to cast Haste and additional ability checks and is quite a unique run! Delph's 48:47 - ruclips.net/video/VqmZvh5ehNg/видео.html This run uses smokepowder bombs with height advantage and the Callous Glow Ring and recruits Minthara to throw them at Myrkul. This is extremely RNG heavy due to a bug called misfires, which is a bug with explosives that are thrown from within the environment to pop in your hand. Because of this, it is very risky to throw explosives, but if lucky you can deal massive amounts of damage to things around you. The route that is done in the video is the route I'd recommend doing as it is the safest and has the least RNG of the three runs, so if you want to follow a run, I'd recommend this one! I'll be making guides for the other routes as well.
What happens to Gale there? He's there one moment and gone the next. I know he will leave if you don't cure his orb but there's supposed to be a cutscene there. Maybe going to act 3 skips the cutscene
After the last Patch Myrkul has a new armor.... reducing every dmg by 2 - gale does no dmg - fire only if you make 3 or 4 dmg - this fight will took much longer now. oh - and Myrkul has now 390 health. To get the Moonlatern you need a rescurrection scroll now - as soon as you take the moonlatern from the bottom alle npc´s goes hostline an you don´t have withers yet.
I tried it today - the Avatar took over two hours to die. But what was way worse: Assuming this is patch 6 as well, invisibility was purged at the start of the netherbrain fight. Not so nice when you count on there not being a fight. :(
Be aware guys, I was following this video to the letter and wasted 4 hours of a run because during the final area on the way to the stem, the route Chronos took is in the direct path of "see invisibility" cultists. Would've appreciated a heads up but oh well here I try again.
That’s incredible. Can’t wait to get a tutorial on this so I can try to do it on Xbox. Also hope the update next week doesn’t mess up any of these techniques lol.
Hey hey :) Following this step by step on the 08.03. At Apostle of Myrkul now, she is taking about a tic (1) of fire dmg, but Gale's Necrotic damage is mitigate down to 0 without exception 10 minutes in. Just a heads up :) This is honor... I am gonna take this time to check wether there have been updates to her since
Myrkul on Patch 6 now has 2 damage reduction to most effects iirc, so Gale's Neurotic Damage will no longer deal any damage, while Fire will deal between 0-2 damage instead of 1-4.
You MUST keep your camera trained on Myrkyl. After I did that, he eventually reached the entity spawn limit. 1:20 after I repositioned camera. In total, a 2.5hr fight, jeeeeez
Unfortunately after patch 6 and couple of hotfixes this playthrough is impossible. For start - Gale cannot defeat the Apostle of Myrkul since he rolls 1d4 and the Apostle has 2+2 necrotic resistance 😞 Then there is this new feature to always start a fight in the end so it removes your invisibility.
Do you think you could do a run where you narrate what you are doing each step of the way perhaps? Or audio overlaid over this run to explain what you are doing and why.
So far the main question I have about the route is why Durge over Tav? As a solo chellenge runner I know Durge is basically Tav Except Better for slow play due to all the frontloaded Inspiration XP (and other Durge benefits), but what propels Durge over Tav for this category given how many cutscenes Durge tends to trigger (e.g. poor Alfira)? Is it still less than Tav in this category?
Presumably it's the ability to unlock the door to Orin's temple without doing any of the prerequisite quests you'd have to do as Tav (Murder Tribunal, etc).
^ This is correct, otherwise we'd need to defeat Orin's father at the Murder Tribunal or the Oliphant which is just extra steps. You don't 'need' it but it does save time.
Is there a way to pull this off playing as Shadowheart as main? Seeing as you have her leaving after the Aylen part, would she leave if she is a main? Would it even allow that portion of the game when you get to Balthazar and Aylen?
Random, but I I’ve your cover photo for your RUclips channel, master chief on Valhalla I think it was? It’s been a while, I could be wrong. But I think it’s Valhalla, anyway, cool pic, and I enjoy your content. Keep er up!
Great run! I am in no means an expert in speedrunning, but I was very surprised at your strategy with the Ketheric fight - is waiting for Dame Aylin to kill him really optimal?
It is a pretty optimal route for a safe method of defeating Myrkul by using Gale's dead body. Relying on Dame Aylin is very RNG heavy since she will very often miss, but Gale's dead body doing consistent damage is the safest way to complete the run without risking losing the run.
Good job on the new time. Even shaving 10 minutes in a category as RNG-intensive as this one seems like a big deal. Very interested to see how you will get it under an hour without glitches. I knew from challenge runs that it wouldn't take more than 2-3 if you beelined the critical path (much of which can be done with build-agnostic tactics like barrelmancy), but sub-60 min for this category seems like a pretty good flex. I feel you on the memorization; I do lots of solo character Honour runs and I have to remember so much stuff to plan my XP routes. Even in a category where you're skipping as much of the game as you can without glitches, that's a pretty big checklist.
just some observation/ideas. I think it is unnecessary to go to the underdark. AS you do not nee the runepowder to kill kelthic. The runepowder sac you can pick up in the mill (act 1) also applies pernament burning. Yeah duing that makes money and levels a bit tighter but it still works (i am currently waiting for the kelthic fight to end) in order to obtain easy money: - take the armor of laezael - pick up the locked chest next to were you steal the moonlatern (shadowheart goes there anyway.) in general pick up kmost locked chest to sell them.
Yeah, it isn't necessary to do the Underdark, but it makes it much more consistent overall. Explosions are very RNG heavy in this game so just dealing the maximum amount of damage helps a lot. There's different routes now that result in much faster times.
@@ChronosReturns Do you have any suggestions now with patch 6 nerfing Gales Myrkul damage and the invisibility being removed at the top of the netherbrain?
@@harryheckmann2323 As far as I know, burning damage still works, Myrkul now has an extra -2 to any damage taken so Gale's Neurotic Aura no longer does damage, and burning now deals between 0-2 damage so it'll take around 1-2 hours to kill Myrkul this way. For invisibility we'll be needing to do a workaround using invisibility potions.
@@ChronosReturns Yeah that's about how long it took me for Myrkul. Looking forward to see what you come up with, esp for the end fight. Might be easier to go the Gale route now? 🤷♂
Yep. So its harder to walk through fight. You need some allies to distract enemies. First, before the battle I drank the potion of blood urge by my mindflayer. I used a doors of dimensions to teleport closer to crown (its first Jaheira's action), then I called Jaheira's harpers to distract enemies (its second Jaheira's action (internal reserve)), then I cast any spell by my mindflayer, other mindflayers blocked it, then I used a dark hole to kill tentacle, then I has 2 bonus actions (blood urge), I flew up to the crown and created a darkness behind me...
But one important thing. If you cast the spell of darkness, don't spell it on yourself, because then you'll be blind and you can't exhaust the crown of karsus.
Ok , so after I get the Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands, the ring of illusion, Why can I NOT get a clear path up from that corner you are jumping from. No path available or interupted is all I get so I have to take the long way around to get to the powder
Not sure what you're describing, but if it is flying up to the other side of the door after taking the invisibility ring, toggling tactical camera can help with your positioning and making sure that you have enhance leap active
Yeah that's where I am talking about. I have enhanced leap on and everything. Is there a specific spot on the ground that I am not noticing? No really a big deal because I am not going for a speed run. Also great job but I got a surprise when zoning into the tubes after Shadowheart leaves, my invis must have worn out trying to understand where to go. Have to start over today cause of the save timestamp lol.@@ChronosReturns
Tried following this as best as I could on Xbox. Had a few hiccups, but got to the gauntlet of shar eventually. Problem is, when he flew down to the shadowfell door through the gap at the 23 minute mark, my stupid console cameras wouldn’t let me aim to the platform the same way he could on PC. I’m starting to worry that no speedrun strat will be viable on Xbox.
If that's the only issue you have right now, you can just get one orb from completing one of the Shar Temple puzzles and continue on, since only one is necessary to take the lift down.
@@ChronosReturns That worked! Thanks! Sorry to ask, but I made it to Orin, but wasn't able to throw her all the way and now she's the slayer. Am I screwed, or is there another way?
@@BrandonCurrie-gh7th Yeah, unfortunately that will be a run killer, so you'd best restart or go back to a previous save by force quitting the game. There are ways to possibly improvise from there but it's too difficult unfortunately to do.
Just was wondering for the explosives roughly that amount is clear for killing the brain in one shot. is it mostly because of also cull of the weak stacks?
Mass dropping the barrels or other items can cause them to be spread out really unpredictably. It would be pretty fast if they went where we want them to be, but generally they get very widely spread out and can result in some RNG with where they get placed, as some may not reach Ketheric. You can move them once they do get placed, but you might trigger Ketheric to attack you which would not be good. It definitely would be the fastest way to do it though.
Personally I don't mind creating a new character every time, but there's a couple reasons for / against it, and I'm pretty sure it is kinda fine to have one. However for Honour mode with a single save file it's not possible to do it unless you don't save at all during your run, and it is weird to do in general.
Is letting Myrkul slow-roast for 20 minutes really faster than simply saving some barrels to bomb him as well? Or can you not do that to him on Honour Mode? EDIT: I saw you vocally speculated about that during the run. Mostly wondering cause that was my preferred solution to him for solo Tactician. None of this Necromite nonsense, just save bombs and barrels for him and knock him out in one punch since even with savescumming, retrying him solo was miserable.
So there is a strat for that, unfortunately it is pretty RNG heavy. I'll probably do a run with that route and it should be extremely fast, but it'll take quite a long time to get the correct RNG. This isn't due to damage issues since new things were found to amplify damage, but because of a bug that exists in the game called misfires involving thrown explosives causing to blow up in your hand.
Gotcha. The more I watch of this category the more it seems really hard to route simply cause the primary way to avoid spicy DC checks/in-combat failures (glitch past them and do not engage) is off the table. Even if you remember all the extra steps to pad your luck as much as possible, there's so many points where things can go wrong even if your execution was perfect. As a slowplay challenge runner I'm sorta numb to it, but from a true Gotta Go Fast perspective, glitchless must be so much more aggravating than Any%/All Acts%.@@ChronosReturns

It's not necessary anymore, but we used to use Drow checks for parts of Goblin camp and the Blighted Village to lower the RNG for dice rolls by easily passing them. Tall races also have benefits for the Nautiloid section at the start by having additional movement speed in turn based mode as well, but it's fairly minor all things considered. You can use basically any race for this route now though.
