My wife and I took this ship, in 2002, when It was called the Crown Odyssey under Orient Lines! It was amazing with 5 Star food! The guests were mainly rich Americans, very friendly! Still looks great, the rooms look exactly the same, and the wonderful Atrium hasn't changed!
Thanks for the tour. Very well presented. Its made up my mind that the Balmoral isn't for me. Yes its an older traditional ship and very well kept. I wish everyone who travels on her a very safe and enjoyable holiday.
@@jasbirkaur5795 Surprisingly no. After only cruising on smaller ships we were concerned about cruising on a ship with 5,000 passengers but it was never crowded although I suspect it wasn't sailing at full capacity.
Yes there's a full buffet selection for breakfast in the MDR or you can choose table service if you want something like Eggs Benedict or an omelette. Either way the waiters will serve you tea or coffee. I assume that the same applies for lunch although we never ate lunch in the MDR.

That's interesting! I'm sure it has had some improvements but I guess there is only so much you can do with a makeover on a ship.
Good video - just booked this ship - should be great
Thanks. It's a lovely ship and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Well I'm glad the video helped in some way! We've just got back from two weeeks on Iona which was altogether different!
@@oldcodgerwithacamera Does the Iona feels too crowded?

@@oldcodgerwithacamera No problem.

Glad you enjoyed it
Thank u for posting this
Thanks, hopefully it was helpful.
@@oldcodgerwithacamera so what types of food does the buffet have
The chocolate and cake area would be my wife’s favourite place.
We've been on P&O's Iona and Ambassador's Ambience and can say withouut a doubt that Fred Olsen has the best cakes!
Thankyou 👌🏻
You’re welcome 😊
Yes the Spey especially outside for food.
The Spey was our favourite restaurant especially for breakfast.
@@oldcodgerwithacamera Is the food on Spey the same as the main dining?
@@jasbirkaur5795 Yes, but it's a much nicer atmosphere.
Hi so does the main restraunt have buffet selection for breakfast lunch ?

How do the tips work. Do you pay as you go or is it a charged at the end?
Tips are added to your onboard account daily which is then settled at the end of the cruise.
@@oldcodgerwithacamera - Thanks. I've since found out you can pay tips in advance at so much per day. Good to know either way.
Many cruises have an Onboard Spending offer. The gratuities can be offset against that.
The Mauretania it is not. Has a bit of a look of downmarket US provincial hotel about it.
Yes, it's an old ship but you can always get the 'luxury extras' on Regent Seven Seas or Seabourne for three times the price.
