I usually buy rhinoshield but I hate how they have a cut out for camera control so I went for one of the OtterBox cases that Apple sells. Also, I have the regular iPhone 16 and did not have the option to switch to swipe under the camera control settings. Also, audio mix sounds almost exactly like the mic you used for this video. Really good!
@@SalinaStarr as someone with cases with and without the cutout, the cutout is the way to go. And I said the opposite for the action button: I prefer the button on the action button. I just find the cover to interfere more with the delicate presses than the cutout does. Personal preference though! And yes, audio mix is so awesome!

Am I the only one who got the hang of the new camera control functions 1st try and find it really easy to use. It’s way faster than tryna find then open up the camera app highly recommend saves you so much time when tryna get that instant shot before it gets messed up.

For faster wired charging, the current understanding is that you need a charger that supports 15V @ 3A. It doesn't matter if it supports higher voltages or total wattage, it has to support 15V specifically.

I think that the Studio option for audio mix just makes it sound like the microphone is closer to your mouth and less tinny. It definitely sounds better than default audio that's for sure.
I think the real studio mic actually sounds better but if you raised the volume of the playback of the studio mode on iPhone I think it would maybe(?) sound better
mine is coming tomorrow and I can't wait. I wasn't going to upgrade until the release of the SE, but when my 12 mini became severely water damaged a week after the 16's release I figured was a sign lol
It's not that I want to be picky, but this new iPhone has me disappointed, so much so that after thinking about it so much I'm going to change it. My 15pro is like new, I just have to change the case, which is worn out.
I had to change it because the battery of my 15 was damaged but otherwise I still had it, and with respect to the cases where I bought mine, they also have it available for yours, which are the Vionentus Elites.
I'm a real dummy. I can't even turn the new 16 on or off. Screen is locked on some camera showing a square and a sun symbol. From there I can't get it to do anything.

It would be nice in a future iOS update to allow you to choose if you would like the Camera Control to keep recording a video when you take your finger off. Then when you want to stop recording, you can simply push the button once to cancel and take you back to Viewfinder mode. I would like that very much, anyone else?

I thought the same about iPhone 14 and 15. I had to use iPhone 13 for 2 more years because they both failed. Now I bought iPhone 16 and I am very happy. I love its powerful chipset. The action buttons is a good to have feature and I hardly use the camera control button because I am not so photogenic. But I love to take photos of nature as I travel a lot. The photos are sharp and have more details. Night photography is really good.
@@real_sohel Yes, but you upgraded 3 generations ahead, Im talking about year over year leaps in design/performance. because year over year, Apple will say that that certain iPhone will have the best cameras and battery life and performance. but yes over 3 years its a good upgrade, I just upgraded from a 14 pro to a 16 pro max.
Could be your acoustic environment but there seems to be a major lack of noise gate on the iPhone mics, made it really hard to compare the differences between the studio and default settings
I like how the studio setting reduced reverb but I don’t like how it removed quite a bit of bass from your voice. As an audio engineer I would be very curious as to the ‘chain’ of events (both hardware and software) that Apple is using to deliver these options and what they are ACTUALLY doing. Maybe a deep dive at some point?

just a heads up guys if you choose to use pro raw & apple prores it will eat your memory up because of huge file sizes, those options should be used with a memory bank attached to the phone so goes straight in the memory bank!

I like my iPhone 16 Pro, but may return it, as no one can tell me if Audio Max works with ProRes LOG footage; and no one, including Apple, can tell me how to change Audio Max settings for LOG clips (if it's available for LOG) in an external editor. In Fairlight I see just two audio tracks with ProRes LOG clips. I assume from this that (a) ProRes LOG doesn't record Audio Mix; and (b) if I shoot in other formats, maybe the phone will record a separate audio track for each Audio Mix setting so that I can choose the one I like in an external editor.
Nice! Finally getting to understand some of the camera format options and just found out too that photographic styles don't work with pro raw or JPEG XL, only with HEIF files. Is that accurate or am I missing something? Was hoping Pro Raw images would also allow adjusting for undertones, just for quick edits within the Photos app.

Hey Brandon I have a problem with my camera button, I have to double click it to launch the camera even tho I have it on “single click “ in the settings .

Why are my settings a little different? As theres no specific option for camera control for that i need to go into the camera option and then i get a small camera control option (there aren’t all options)
difference between HEIF max and JPEG max is that HEIF is a different file compression and keep less data than JPEG, JPEG MAX is better, but takes up more space.
6 years using p30 pro and I had zero problems with battery charged to 100%, now it's just like 90% of the capacity it was on the beginning and it runs like 45W. Apple is just lying to everyone that slow charging and 80-90% batttery is the best option :D

When setting up your iPhone 16, use the "transfer from iphone" option. Then you can choose what apps you want to transfer.

You can swipe without pressure on the camera control button lol. Just force click it once to activate it then swipe normally.
