  • My son's First Lego League is raising money to install two stair lift systems at their elementary school, Bowler Elementary in Vicksburg MS. The building was built in 1939 and has no accessibility features to allow people with mobility restrictions to access areas of the school only reachable by stairs. This includes 3rd and 5th grade class rooms. Please consider even a small donation to help these deserving kids and faculty. Go Fund Me link below.

Once upon a time, silent movies cleverly conveyed their message....like many things long forgotten, they still work....especially for a worthy cause👍

    Good Job, Guy's.
Our local K-8 is in a similar situation. The time they did have a student with mobility problems, they put his class downstairs, and when needed, the biggest boys had no problem with giving that student piggy back rides to/from the library, and another two would tote the chair up or down.
Unlike your school, this one is not considered historic enough for special considerations, and it's not in that great of shape. They do a good job keeping it up, but there are limitations because of it's age and how it was built.

They solved this at my old school by taking out 2 windows and installing an outside elevator. A chairlift does not seem the best solution for a school. What if more than one person needs to use it? Going to take a lot of time.

I agree totally but this building is on the national register of historic places. Modifying the exterior is a big no-no.
