During my short stay in Pennsylvania awhile back, I figured I’d hit up a siren recording while I was in the area. I immediately gravitated towards Forest Hills considering how close it was to where I was staying. Plus, I never got to hear a 612 run on the original SiraTone controller. The ones I filmed in Illinois were always running a newer UltraVoice or MCP. I really love how creepy that analog controller sounds in person. While certainly not the loudest siren, it definitely has an unmistakable sound with the surrounding hills and buildings providing great acoustics. I might stop by again when the weather gets warmer again and who knows…maybe I can try my luck and see if I can get other signals tested.
Sirens surrounding the Pittsburgh metro are mostly used to either signal a curfew or alert volunteer firefighters as a backup to their pagers. Around the eastern part of the county, this system is tested every Saturday at Noon.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

It’s nice to see that this still exists
Nice, love the siratone attack signal
Nice!
Really like the scary sound in it, very good eows vid
Welcome back
In pissing distance from downtown Pittsburgh, there are these siro-drone looking sirens. I saw 2 of them. One of them was red and one of them was blue. The blue one was on top of a bar but idk about the red one
Those might be possible S2 screamers
Suggestion for DSRX100 can you make a video of a Vortex (Finback) siren in N County Rd 725 E?
Nice recording!
Almost sounds a lot like the wail that was sounded at Westmont, IL.
Very scary sound.
This is a crossover I didn't count on
Super 😊😊😊😊
Are those used for fire calls aswell?
Yes.
Nice echo
it almost sounds edited it's so clean
tested every Saturday at 12:00 I think
Literally sounds like a chopper level 6 Thunderbolt.
Not really.
It's just missing the roar that a blower would make
Damn she sounds good. Oscillator based sirens are such a rarity now.
You really get around eh? If you’re ever back in the area, there’s a whole map of PA sirens and Allegheny County tests every Saturday at noon. I’m still trying to find out if they’re active but, there’s a couple model B’s, and some Sentry’s too
Allegheny East zone tests every Saturday at noon.
W VID
I predict it’ll be toppled over in a few months.
