We had an account that shipped disposable cameras that had been used up and no longer had film, we messing with the flash to see if they still had power. Because some of these had the cover broken off because of the damage they'd go though, when we pushed the button for the flash we would get shocked because we were touching open leads with our hands. Those things HURT pretty damn bad. As a kid I'd mess with my brother's tazer to see if I could stand the pain. No. No I couldn't. One single arc (from one metal node to the other, if you've seen it you know it sounds like, popping/snapping very fast multiple times a second) and I was done. The flash mechanism for those disposable cameras were JUST as painful. I'm sure the camera battery was one of those flat ones that looks like a coin or even hearing aid batteries. On this ball in the video you would have more than enough room for multiple shock mechanisms batteries and all, with leads that run along the outside of it, or even completely electrifying the outside by having some type of thin conductive layer on the surface of the ball. Very doable.

I can honestly see nasa viewing this as a great design for exploring various terrain. I mean, between the self rolling fast locomotion, and the legged walking mode, i can honestly see this traversing a variety of different terrain.
There's a reason the rovers travel at a fraction of a mile an hour and it's not because we can't design faster ones, there is a lot of delay and obstacles to navigate, jagged rocks that puncture even their metal treads, you don't want to roll your billions of dollars precisely calibrated equipment millions of kilometers away in the sand and jagged rocks and risk damaging it.

I can honestly see nasa viewing this as a great design for exploring various terrain.
I mean, between the self rolling fast locomotion, and the legged walking mode, i can honestly see this traversing a variety of different terrain.
There's a reason the rovers travel at a fraction of a mile an hour and it's not because we can't design faster ones, there is a lot of delay and obstacles to navigate, jagged rocks that puncture even their metal treads, you don't want to roll your billions of dollars precisely calibrated equipment millions of kilometers away in the sand and jagged rocks and risk damaging it.
