The media pending between every knife is crazy...
Painful.
yeah wtf?
i feel like its sending me subliminal messages and trying to hypnotize me.
Lol I thought the same thing. Something must've happened within their video editor software
How tf did they not notice lol.
I remember when $100 for a knife was pretty pricey. Now, I’m all about budget knives. When I shop for a knife, I set the filter at “Under $100.
Bidenomics
WTF with those "Media pending" interuptions between each knife?
David..you remain to this day the most concise, well spoken Presenter of all things Knives I have ever heard!😊
When I think about tough folders the Cold steel 4max scout is what I like.
No hard use knives list is complete without a Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto S35VN
Agreed except I prefer the spear point myself. 🍻
@@trageoparI own one. Solid knife.
Recon 1 is like the definition of a hard use knife. but that SR1 is THICC
I'm new to the world of pocket knives and I've been drooling over the Recon 1 clip point. I know $105 isn't that much for a pocket knife but I've been hesitant to bite the bullet. After seeing so many good things being said about them, I might just have to.
Is the CS Recon 1 in S35VN a better buy than a Bastinelli Mako fixed blade?
If I spent $100 on a knife I wrap it in silk and put it in a cedar box, and then pull it out once a year to dust It Off😀
Hello David, thank you for sharing this very informative video. You always do a great job in presenting the information. All the best to you.
Great video thanks.
Love my 4 max scout 62 rq cold steel knife for my favorite heavy use knife. My EDC knife is the Snubby cqc 14 from Emerson with a full size handle and city legal just under 3 inch blade I am very happy with it. I love the grippy scales on both these knives even when my hands were wet.
Best wishes to all and stay safe.
david's presentations are always excellent, and i try never to miss them...
Love these videos. The presenter is thoroughly professional and brings a lot of helpful information.
As an 'Under $100' buyer, I've been extremely impressed with the Kizer Justice (partially serrated version) as a "hard use" folder. It's slim enough to easily carry, has plenty of drop point blade, and has a large enough handle to grip comfortably. Has smooth washer opening via thumb studs or flipper and just feels great.
CRKT CK folder is the best $30 you’ll ever spend on a hard use folder.
Every time this guy shows new knives I want to buy one!
benchmade griptilian! it probably does not qualify because it does not weigh a ton (in french we say "weigh a dead donkey"), and also sells without needing to talk about it ;) but super tough and very reliable locking (axis lock). and it cuts soooo well! :)
The DPX HEST folder is top 5 all time I've ever carried not just hard use. Really awesome knife.
The way you explain these knives makes me wanna buy one
Also loving that coldsteel tanto
Excellent choices all ! I`ve owned several of these over the years. Cold Steel`s Triad lock is THE BEAST among folder locks, I`ve never seen a better one. In my pockets right now: Zero Tolerance ZT-0350 in CPM-SV30 (my Go-To knife for the last 10 years), and a Spyderco Manix 2 in CPM 20CV. Gibbs` Rule Number Nine: Never go anywhere without a knife !
I never watched NCIS, until I found it on HULU or something. Then I watched 15 seasons. I became aware of Leroy Jethro Gibbs rule number nine. I got myself a Kershaw ZT knife with tiger strips and never go anywhere without a knife.
Both great heavy duty knives. I carry one of my manix-2s, either a S30V or S110V almost daily and my TUFF gets to go often too.
My ZT 0350 gets its share of pocket time as well.
Ditto for my 0561.
My Cold Steel ultimate hunter in CTS-XHP is in rotation as is my rajah-3 AUS-8A.
My Ontario RAT-1 in D2 usually rides backup to my manix-2 most days and my Real Steel H6-S1 gets the nod when i want to run light.
When our on the town my Viper Odino, Benchmade 908 stryker or 581 barrage, Boker titan worker, Kizer Ki401X1 or MCUSTA 114D tsuchi gets the nod.
Isnt it great to have a knife collection to choose from every morning!
When anybody say hard use folder I think about cold steel
Amen.
Just got my first Cold Steel. I wanted to test the water and picked up the tac 2 boot knife. Great little knife and im looking at Cold Steel folders now just hard to pick one
My man
They are the best. I own 2 immortals and both versions of the sr1 and i have owned thousand of knives over 30 years and cold steel knives are superior to other brands and the testing is proof
I've got a code 4 on the way from Murrika
For me cold steel all day
Love my Sog Seal XR. Total beast of a knife. When using their crossbar lock it does kick out the blade nicely. So nice it can open and close with gravity and the weight of that beefy blade. Definitely a knife I will never part with.
Fox Col Moschin Delta Spec. Ops is my preferred hard use folder. I use both the big and the small one. They have Emerson opener, a strong spear point and excellent build quality.
Personal I like aus8 steel it's better than mov8cr13 steel(correct me if I got it wrong). ColdSteel folding knives can take a lot of hard work they really are a multi use tool.
The fact that any liner locks are on this list is insane.
I chose the Maserin Nimrod which has a nice beefy 4" M390 drop point blade and am very happy with it.
Cold Steel AD-10 for me. That thing can go through a nuclear war and still stand on top. If not that, i will take The Lionsteel SR11 or ROK. This is the best video to date David and Knife Center.
I like the way you think Nate. I agree 100% with you
MljkCmjkm m astle Bravo
AD-15, AD-20
4max
I have the AD-10, love it!
Ontario Rat 1. I won’t cry if I break it. Same w my Cold Steel Pro Lite.
You are right....imagine you break that $475 D2 piece of shit...
Spyderco Tenacious for a win for cheap work knives under $50
@@truth-Hurts375 YOU won't break a Medford knife, ever! And lifetime warranty to boot of in any event you do. Also it's NOT regular D2 steel, so get educated on the differences please!
Haven’t been a huge fan of SOG but I really like the Seal XR. Also the SR1! Thanks for the great video.
XR lock is shit. I've had to send it back 3 times in the past 4 months due to the omega springs failing on me
my favorite was the lion steel and dpx/lionsteel....i always wanted a bench made because of the resale value is there ,always it seems like spyderco has that resale value, but lion steel looks awesome and the quality really shows thanks for the great informative videos and honesty....clip on the tops/buck collaboration ...great job !!
Loving your list-type videos. Subbed!
Very insightful, thank you!
I prefer the zero tolerance 0350 a well built heavy duty folder been carrying mine everyday for two years goes every where with me very good knife that won't break the bank
Excellent presentation as always, DCA! I'd call the Cold Steel AD15 LIte a good "hard use" folder, since the tighter one grips its Scorpion lock, the more secure it gets. Though as I'm no metallurgist, I can't speak to the robustness/rust resistance of the AUS10A steel.
This guy is the best when it comes to knives.
I was expecting a video with only Cold Steel
I like Cold Steel, I just think they look gimmicky. They look like something you buy at a fair.
I have thumped an SR1 through logs for 2 years. Batonned it hard enough to chip and scratch the spine too. For $140 I have no complaints. IMHO its a little easier to pocket carry than the 4 max models.
Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. Tricky to open and close, 4116 blade, stainless steel handle. For heavy duty use.
Excellent review !
If only emerson and cold steel with a side of demko lock could happen. Like the cqc 15 blade design on a cold steel folder.
Enjoyed the review and i appreciate ur in site, i would luv one of each. However i dont have the budget for it now. Realistically i liked the 2nd Coldsteel with the black handle and robust blade. The 2nd Italian version of the Lionsteel with the Green G 10 handle and blade lock, sweet very nice indeed. I look forward to the selection for 2021.
Thank you
not that it rly, matters, but my fave on this list is SOG SEAL XR... I just got a new Spyderco native 5 S35VN, and it's my fave folder so far, it's under 4oz, so very light
Lionsteell always surprises me well. At this point they have, IMHO, the best slipjoints available in the market. Their fixed blade knives are also super. F&F is always premium. And their prices are competitive.
Agreed. Very nice the LionSteel. Impressive.
TBH I think Italian are at the top of the game right now... Fox, Viper, LionSteel etc... best knives, best fit and finish... best bang for the buck.
Expecting my SOG SEAL XR today!
The Cold Steel knives are most appropriate for this vid.
C. Welch yup them and ZT.
Yes best bang for your buck for sure, and awesome warranty to boot.
You can drill and tap the left scale of the Emerson to switch the pocket clip and orientation top to bottom.
My three daily hard use carries are shirogorov f95NL, strider sng fatty, and Curtiss f3 large
i like the Cold Steel AD-10.
David your presentation style is fantastic. Very informative but also comes across that you're passionate and knowledgeable. What's with the media pending screen I've not seen that before?
Al Black yeah me either, thought I was getting hacked lol
Same here think it's related to coronavirus
We've scanned our editing software and, while it is not infected with COVID-19, it did in fact come down with a case of the hiccups.
KnifeCenter Haha I love it! Great job guys keep up the good work 👍
There's some very good hard use knive there David but the 4Max Scout get me pick and then the SRK 1 by Cold Steel.
And the lionsteel KUR clip point is on my radar. Probably my favorite of the bunch
SOG is the most beautiful, but Hinderer is the one I'd choose.
damyr -SOG is beautiful, but I am digging the Cold Steel SR1 as well although their quality can be a bit hit/miss
@@velocitymg sr1 all the way
Excellent topic and video
Some are looking great for fishing and carving!
A lot of the time, I'll just reach for a fixed blade if I want "hard use". As far as folders, I like the Bruiser from Tuya.
Cold Steel AD 10 , it’s a beast , I semi retired my ZT562 for it and I love my ZTs. I sell and repair tractors for a living and my knife gets a lot of use. The knives you showed I like the Super Commander, SRK 1 and the Tops Buck collaboration. I prefer the Manix 2 when it comes to Spydercos. Great vid thanks
I have a Grayman Dua, it is a beast.
My favorite hard use pocket knife is my Eskabar.
$475 for D2 steel is crazy, even if it is a Medford.
$475 for a knife? It better come with rechargeable batteries and cut thinks automatically/unassisted. And it better at least be gold plated or gold filled.
I’ll take 2 please
That would make sense years ago when d2 was high tech
@@Phaminator525 its not the same d2 as the sub $100 knives use. Its CPM-D2. A powdered steel D2.
@@ohiogarbageman9507 CPM d2 is d2 but rust proof right?
Wow! I love your edit
I carry a SOG Trident folder, and have for years.
I'd throw in the Coldsteel Voyager. Especially for the cost!! $60. You wouldnt feel guilty for thrashing on it.
Couldn't agree more! Not going to abuse anything over $100
I had one for hard daily use and it was great. But too large as a pocket knife for me.
I love tantos but I prefer spear point because of the ease of sharpening
I love the Shaman. But one of my favorite hard use knives is the old cold steel Gunsite folder I have. I was a police and fire captain but I’m now retired. I kept that gunsight folder in my bunker coat pocket and used it many times to pry open windows and doors and even one time on a bet to punch through the hood of a car. It’s still going strong in my bug out bag.
How about a good ole classic? The Buck 110.
It’s not really hard use tho
I just ordered a Buck 110 off eBay, it’ll be here soon. I bought it to practice sharpening on my new Work Sharp Precision knife sharpener. The price was right compared to these working knives. My Buck 110 will just be used to open my mail, once I put a razor edge on it. Great video.
Good cross section. The Microtech Socom Elite is worthy of consideration on the list in my opinion.
Folders are for occasions where you would not be expecting to use it other than open a letter, cut a cord, open a package and for dress up occasions. Ranching, farming, camping, tradesmen, or expeditions require a more solid cutting platform. IMO only.
Well that would depend on the folder CS folder are good hard use knives but I think a good and strong folder best use is for self defense
What’s with the media pending at the intro to each knife?
The media pends. It seems to be quite self explanatory.
TheOneAndOnlySame idk never seen it before.
I was yanking your chain. This is a bug: it comes from the video edition software, Adobe Premiere Pro. This is what the software displays when it is loading the video files that are to be edited together. It should not be visible in the final cut lol It's even weird that it is actually.
TheOneAndOnlySame no worries just struck me as odd.
WUTRUCASUL? Drugs? I don’t do drugs maybe Snorting limes of Jameson tho
The COLD STEEL'S BEAT THEM ALL FOR STRENGTH!
Exactly cold steel will Outlast all these other knives with any hard use
the others will fail
@@Frankgonzalez-hj7bm except that Medford. That shits a TANK tbh..
I bought a knife, an Mtech knife and i like it. I knew that the knife was going to be sharp, but i didn’t expect it to be really really sharp, i mean, i barely touched my skin and jet i got hurt by the blade. It’s a really good knife and i’m gonna buy more of them, to collect. ✌🏻
I LOVE the SOG Seal XR Flipper 💯🔥❗ For me there isn't another folder out there that has everything that I'm looking for in a knife & performs as well as this SOG ❗ For anyone reading this , don't cheat yourself , treat yourself & go pick up the SOG Seal XR Flipper 💯❤🇺🇸💪❗
What is that “persuader” tool about 🤔
My favorite hard use folders currently, are: benchmade Contego and SOG Seal xr
Hi there bro from the UK, I agree thats my choice as well best price and best looking also best value for money, cool baby stay sharp out there atb Dave
What’s with “Media Pending?”
What’s with the “Media Pending” screens that keep popping up??
I'm surprised no CRKT made the list. Love my M21-04 & Foresight.
Medford for sure the best of the best. I carry a midi Marauder. Built like a tank and the top materials are used. Well worth the cost
Appreciate modern medium size super steel and strong hinge combination, for whittling log's ( : with those pushing and twisting actions, which presenters rarely mention, and that twisting/pushing strength, that you can't know for certain from pictures alone
I edc the best heavy use folder, the microtech socom elite, clip point, m390 steel.
Good stuff!
An overlooked hard use knife is the Spyderco Caribbean. I have one I use on my boat, fishing, camping etc. I’d like to see you feature it and get your opinion.
Agreed it's a great knife. Hard to think of a better folding knife for my use.
Buck CSAR-T Pro
I love this thing. It's hands down the toughest knife I own, and I have ZTs, Benchmades, etc. It's basically a sharpened pry bar.
I've seen one broken. But it was being used to pry something it really had no business near.
Heaviest folder I've ever seen too
Well Done! nice review
Don’t put any ZT in this category. Beautifully built but certainly not designed for any hard use
totally agree!
If anyone wants a much cheaper alternative to the Emerson Super Commander, try the Kershaw Emerson CQC series. I use the CQC-5k and it has exactly the same features as the super commander, just a tad bit smaller and around 1/10 the price.
Great video ad10 and manix 2 xl would be my Choise or my recon 1 love my scout but a bit heavy for edc
Grayman Satu is the best heavyduty blade folder....4 in cutting edge heavy duty....i cut ie chopped a 2x4 in half w mine.
I recommend the ka-bar mule
4MAX steel 😍😍
DPX Hest!!
I went with the Tops/Buck CSAR. It's a tank. I wouldn't edc it in pocket but it comes w a nice pouch for camping. Pretty sweet for around $140.
No Benchmade Turret?!? One of my favorite newer Benchmades in last year or so and yet no one seems to be talking about it. Benchmade even bills it as super heavy duty.
Most of those blades are our favorite,,,"Stonewashed,".!
My hard use EDC folder is the 3050 KaBar Mule.
Please do a video on knives that get the most page views or screen views
"Media pending" wtf?
Pictures not ready.
And in Chinese
WTH are these guys thinking?
@@LibertyNotLicense Lol. Its an adobe premiere screen. Happens when media is not properly imported when editing the video. I am surprised that they uploaded the video like that though.
Yeah for real whats that all about?
Nice over built knife is the benchmade loco or mini loco which is not that mini. Built like a tank with with premium materials and feels great in the hand with the curved handle. Too bad it's no longer in production but do edc the mini quite often in my rotation
Do you think you could throw the Adamas considering how well it handled that beating? Did the beating test match or exceed what the knife would suffer being whipped and making contact with trees at random angles?
Gerber fast 06 🔥🤘
Good video as usual !!!!'
I need a hinderer Vintage. I NEEEEEED IT
I bought a vintage XM-24, now I want the entire vintage collection.
@@Moist_Nugget939 I'm a classic kinda guy I love the wood and parkerized finish!!
I honestly think of the super freek or maybe the 560 freek but I know they didn't come out in 2020
