Great video. Is this procedure similar to what I might run into on a Precor EFX 835 elliptical? The layout is the same, but the machine is more complex looking. I offered to do this for a friend who has a gym, he has six of these for me to do if the first goes well. They have two belts; drive and tension and he ordered both. Wish me luck!
Is there a standard belt that fits on these models? I have an Ancheer that looks similar to this. No help from manufacturer. Where can I get a belt that would fit?
How long do drive belts last? I've got about 2,700 hours on my year 2000 Life Fitness X3 elliptical. Thinking about preemptively buying a belt, since I know parts become difficult to find. And what are the most common parts that fail? One more question. My power supply is dying. Gotta wait 2 days for the new one to arrive. I'm still able to do a workout as the unit intermittently beeps with no rhyme or reason. Can any electronic parts (circuit board, actuator, etc) be damaged by running with a power supply that is not delivering enough power?
That's a long time... It depends on use but i have found if the belts are kept properly adjusted and tensioned they will last many years of regular use. I would say between 3-6 years on average, again depending on use.
this question is five months old but I will reply anyway. If your footpads slip as you push them...typically you will get a few rotations and then you will get 2 or 3 slips in varying degrees that is a sign the belt is wearing out. When you open the back of the machine you will find fine black power which is from your belt and is another sign your belt is wearing out. Then if you look at the belt you will find evidence that the edges are starting to break up and the inside "tread" which is raised lines that run around the belt will definitely show signs of wear or even be gone in some spots. good luck.
