Noises can be pretty hard to pin down with out actually being there. Squeaking usually occurs when there is rubbing on two metal pieces. Noises in general occur when things are moving that should be tight. I would go through the assembly points and make sure everything is tight, particularly the upright bolts and the front and rear stabilizer bolts. If you can find the location of the squeak and tightening it does not eliminate it, adding some grease between the two pieces will minimize wear and lessen the noise.
Do all bikes use the same drive belt, I picked up a branx cross trainer and the belt was missing so I have to reference on the belt type I need. Any ideas?
No, each model may use a slightly different length belt. the belts will however be similar. if you know ho long the belt should be you can likely find one aftermarket that will work.
At 1:14 you show removing the screw and exposing the bearing. That bearing for me is squeaking. I would like to remove it and replace it, but the screw won't budge. What options do I have?
If the screw has been held in with lock tight (as this one had been... see the blue residue), then using a larger wrench or breaker bar may help break the lock tight. Make sure you use the correct size wrench to avoid stripping the head of the bolt. Often the tool that came with the unit for assembly is not the best option. You may find other helpful tips for disengaging lock tight online.
Any suggestions for replacing the belt on a Nordictrack A.C.T.? From what I can tell, none of the belt replacement videos online for frame styles A, B, or C apply to the ACT, and I cannot figure out how to get the new belt onto the rear pulley. Not sure if I need to remove all the snap rings and bearings, or if I should be able to remove the 19mm nut and bolt (which even with an impact wrench i can't budge) to remove the crank. Called Nordictrack customer service and they didn't know either...
@@FitnessEquipmentHelp I had given up and decided to give it one more try. First, I nearly bent my socket handle trying to turn the bolt. I gave the bolt a good soaking of WD-40, got a steel rod to put over the socket handle for leverage (I used a section from a cymbal stand from my drumset) and put all my weight on it. Finally, the nut (not the bolt head, but the nut) broke free, and I could remove the bolt, pull out the crank, and finally replace the belt. Of course, as I'm testing it the resistance motor gears failed (broken plastic gear) so now I still have to replace that, but finally the new belt is on!
Please help! I have a golds gym stride trainer 350i and I replaced the belt but when I try to tighten the bottom bolt to make the belt tighter, it seems to actually loosen the bolt! But if I loosen it then I can manually pull up that piece and tighten the side bolt to hold it in place. Why does mine seem to be opposite of this? What am I doing wrong? Thank you
Not sure. I know turning the bolt from the opposite side can be disorienting. I have thought I was tightening a bolt when I was actually loosening it. otherwise make sure the belt is routed correctly. Sorry w/out seeing it, I may be of little help.
That could be many things. I believe if you were to remove the side shields your issue would be apparent. It could be a stuck drive belt or a stuck resistance mech in the flywheel.
Usually a loose drive belt feels like the bike is stuttering or jerks when pedaling. If the belt has come off and is stuck between the pulleys it could be hard to pedal.
@@CVicMagpantay No not usually. Most currently produced cardio equipment use a magnetic resistance system. it is more likely that the magnets that help make the resistance are no longer adjusting or some other part has become stuck. you may be able to see that is happening (or not happening) by removing any service covers or the plastic side shields.
@@FitnessEquipmentHelp K. in some of the sites I checked it says the problem might be grime that got in because our Elliptical did not come with a cover. is stuck pedal a symptom of that Sir/Mam?
the best tension for any belt is as loose as possible but no so loose that it slips. Its kind of a trial and error measure. If you put the screw back to the point it was adjusted to to be gin with you are usually pretty good.
It looks like for that model you will want to first remove the pedal legs. You can follow the assembly instructions in reverse from your users manual for that part. With the pedal legs removed, take out all the screws from the plastic side shields. the side shields can then be moved off of the unit. You may have to re- position the crank arms in such a way that the shields can slide off. with the side shields removed you can then loosen the idler and walk the belt off the pulley. To remove the flywheel loosen the flywheel axle bolts and the flywheel should slide out of the frame you can then replace the drive belt. Reverse these steps to re assemble the elliptical. I'm sorry I don't have more information, this is actually not a product we manufacture.
Fitness Equipment Help Thank you. I have done all of that already. I removed the bolts on either side of the flywheel but it won't budge and the belt still feels tight. Thank you for trying, I appreciate it.
Belt size will be model dependent. Contact the manufacturer to make sure you get the correct belt for your specific model and version. Parts for icon brands can be found at www.iconservice.com
Things are very good and easy to assemble. It can be done in half an hour. You can exercise at home without going out. It is recommended.
Thanks the video. But you should mentions that some of the gears are a pain to pull off .
I have a proform 520e and my belt broke. Any videos for that model ?

Hi, is there a particular brand of belt you'd recommend. I dont want to get something that will fall apart quickly.
These are similar to automotive belts but I'm not familiar with other aftermarket brands.

Yes, the crank will need to be removed to put on a new drive belt. I don't have any specific tricks for removing the crank bolt.
