I have a shinobi 7 and I do live streaming for sporting events. I was wanting to increase my viewing capabilities. I hook up a SDI cable from my camera to the Shinobi then a 200 ' SDI cable from the shinobi to my tricaster. It doesn't work. Yes I hooked up the SDI in and out correctly. It works when I hook up the SDI directly to the camera. Any Ideas?
Hey man! Depends on how large you are rigging it up but I would say the Ninja 5 is a great option! I would also maybe look into the SmallHD action 5. It will be much better on its power draw because it’s not a recorder.
You mentioned no Latency? Is this camera to Monitor? Usually there's some Latency from camera LCD to monitor. Also how is it outdoors? More reflective then previous models? I noticed the smallHD monitors and other cheaper monitors have really bad reflections when shooting outdoors in full sun. Also when powering on and off does it still take a while, like 8sec? Hopefully it's only 4 sec power up and down now.
Hey man! No added latency from cross converting from HDMI to SDI atleast that I have noticed. It’s great outdoors that reflection issue might not really be reflections but the monitor not being bright enough. I know what you are referring to and haven’t had that issue! I would say around 4sec or less boot time! Very quick!
@@robtrent4167 cool, I just noticed Shinobi doesn't support 1080p 120fps or 4k 120fps. Would this mean if I record in 120fps on Sony A7S3 the Shinobi will display a 60fps video? Or it won't display 120fps video format at all?it needs to be shot in 60fps max in order to display on Shinobi?
You forgot to mention the size. This thing is tubby… like Atomos never intended it to go on top of a camera. Instead, they thought of it as a focus pull out directors Monitor.
Looking to the monitor to expose, big mistake, you must lurn how to use vectorscope to see what colors you get and falsecolors and histogram to expose … not what you see on monitor … use the tools , not what the monitor display I use the shinobi 7 on a red dsmc2 and works like a champ compared to smallhd And menus on atomos are way better than smallhd
Dear Rob. I am looking for a small 5" or the 7". My only concern is the fan noise may be. When you turn down the brightness to minimum, how dark is it and how much noise is noticeable in a quit sourrounding ?
Hey Winni! I haven’t experimented with how dark the screen is at lowest brightness. However, the fan noise is very manageable and hasn’t caused me any problems. The fans ramp up when the unit turns on put them settle into a consistent speed so even if it shows up in your audio it would be very easy to take out in post!
Great pace of communication with ease of understanding. Thanks Rob.
Nice! Looking into a monitor options specifically for the C70 for outdoor shooting. This vid was helpful!
Awesome! Glad I could help man! Let me know if you have any specific questions!
Thank you Rob for this!
Considering the 7” shinobi do you have any photo examples of its size compared to a sony a7siii?
Great video. Thank you.
Hi! Do you still have the monitor? What are you mounting it on? Thanks!
Great video Rob 👏 I think the shinobi 7 would be the right monitor for my FX6 😉 sub from a small german RUclips filmmaker
Great video. Just curious how you find to handheld shoot with such a big monitor, is it confortable?
What tripod to you use ?
Ya
Cool your not anoying.

Thank you very much for the material. Can you please tell me what batteries are you using? Brand and model. Thanks a lot.

Hey there! Make sure your Shinobi is on the most recent software. Mine had a problem with sending SDI when it was on an outdated software.
Still hesitating between Shinobi 7” & Ninja V for my A7Siii setup. What do you recommend??

@@robtrent4167 Thanks man! I actually looked into the SmallHD Action 5 but unfortunately they don't sell it in The Netherlands or Europe..
Curiously, did the fan on the monitor seem like an issue to you? Thanks for the vid! Very insightful
I haven’t had an issue with the fan. If you compare it to other monitors such as the Ninja 5 the shinobi 7 preforms well!
Shinobi 7 has inbuilt recording feature to ssd or sd card?
What monitor do you recommend to record 10-bit log from an EOS R?
Hi Rob! Still happy with this monitor with the C70?
Hey man! On set with it right now and still love! Still recommending it!

@@Diminish12 doesnt matter its good enough, just soot it, and then get on yer computi..
What kinda of cage do you recommend for a c200?
Question
Since it’s a 2200 nit monitor
Does it get really hot when using?
Surprisingly it doesn’t! Stays very cool actually. Nothing like the SmallHD monitors

Yaman i love my 7 too
Awesome monitor! Glad to hear you enjoy yours as much as I do!
Shinobi 5 SDI or Shinobi 7 for the C70? I’m having a hard time deciding, thinking the 7 might be a tad too big
Personally I don’t think 5” is enough and the Shinobi 5 has a much worse screen in it. You won’t regret the 7!
What is this Share Good thing you talk about?
totally. quick question, are you also a hair model? asking for a friend.
Honestly, anything for a buck these days.
It's a thick monitor. That's my worry haha
