  • Join me making all natural gold and silver arrangements for a winter party. No plastic, no wire, no spray - all natural ingredients either harvested by me from the garden this very day or ordered up from nearby flower growers who keep producing throughout the winter BJ Richards bjrichardsflow...
    This mix is inspired by the WB Yeats poem The Song of the Wandering Aengus

    At Christmas people are increasingly concerned about sustainability and that applies to how they dress their houses too. These flowers are for a lunch party and to dress the whole house. While I create I think about light on the flowers all the time, and consider how they'll be seen through the day at the venue.
    Enjoy, and have a go - if you do please do share your pictures over on your instagram and @ me @commonfarmflowers there and use the #tag #30stemchallenge and I'll share some of them on my stories. Good luck!

    You are pure natural talent. Your designs/arrangements are snapshots representing nature and our natural environment that your clients can enjoy inside. Nothing pretentious, not lifelessly symmetrical, not matchy-matchy (I love your imaginative and creative words), you manifest creations that are full of natural life and beauty. Really stunning!

    Sparkles of silver and gold work beautifully on the short, dark days of winter.

    Those natural ingredients from your garden combine to make beautiful arrangements. I am a floral designer in the United States, and love the natural beauty that Mother Nature provides. I also like going to go to flower shops and grocery stores to see what is available when our harsh winter weather cannot provide flowers for me. Please continue to inspire us, I enjoy watching your channel.

    Just beautiful! I am an artist so I can appreciate what you were saying about being able to push the boundaries without being restricted by client requirements. It’s also very creative to forage for colours, textures and form in your garden and the great satisfaction that you save so much money in the process!

    Bravo! It is so wonderful to listen to your thoughts on flowering. I have only done flowers twice in my life. Both of my Children’s wedding. I used foraged flowers for both. It is so wonderful to find a designer that uses the principle of my own heart.

    I also appreciate the smaller bouquets because they're more (what the title implied) all gold and silver. The warm of the chartreuse (which is my favorite neutral 😆) clashes a bit with the cooler tones of the gold and silver, to my eye. LOVE that you encourage harvesting year round; too many fail to see the beauty in wither.

      @@theflowerfarmer Quite understandable -- nothing beats natural light. My camera can't capture certain shades of intense colors -- possibly the same issue.🤷‍♀

    I love these. I've spent today making arrangements for a party we are having on Saturday. 8 arrangements all created from bits from our garden, the local hedgerows, things I cut to dry earlier in the year and just 5 stems of white lilies from Smith and Munson, following your recommendation last week. I'm really proud of what I have been able to do and I only have the confidence because of what I have learnt from you on this channel over the last year. Thank you for the inspiration and advice, I have learnt so much. I wish I could show you what I have created but I don't think I can put pictures in the comments. Thank you. Liz

    Over the past year, after discovering your channel you have inspired me to be more mindful of the materials i use. I was just thinking of adding dried flowers to a fresh arrangement but not quite sure where to go with it. These are stunning!!! I won't be afraid experiment. Thank you!

    haha, I like your choice of music! The arrangements turned out very natural and beautiful. Your style of floristry reminds me a lot of how my grandma used to decorate, highlighting the most delicate (wild)flowers in a creative mix of lots of greenery and sculptural branches.

    Hi Georgie , I've just started watching your vlogs and I'm obsessed ! I love gardening and arranging flowers . I'm just about to start on a garland for around the front door and the front widow sill . I have loads of hydrangea heads and spraying them gold ( a select few) is inspired , hope you don't mind me using that idea . Also will be busy after the festive season planning my cut flower garden ( I want to have loads of flowers for next year in the autumn and winter ) thankyou so much for sharing your ideas and expertise. With all good wishes for Christmas and the New Year x

    Aaaargh I got SO EXCITED watching this, I had to stop before the video finished and run outside in 35°C heat to collect stuff to arrange...
    Question, do you try to keep the stems of the dried stuff out of the water, or does it not matter? Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations/philosophy/personality❤

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  10 месяцев назад

      brilliant - the stems of the dried stuff go in the water and will eventually disintegrate but not for weeks x

    I love your videos. I’m not any sort of florist or flower arranger, I just love having flowers in the house and you give so much encouragement to use different things to add interest. I live in the north east of Scotland so not a lot going on in the garden at the moment but I will be having a look! And visiting my local florist instead of the supermarket!

    You mentioned paper whites. I grew a quantity this year for the first time and sold them at market in lovely pots. Those that I didn’t sell I dotted around the house for Christmas. When they flowered, I was overwhelmed by roughly speaking, the fragrance of cat wee. This made me feel awful about those who had bought from me. Have you experienced this unpleasant odour???? I cannot understand their popularity?

    • @theflowerfarmer
      @theflowerfarmer  10 месяцев назад

      well the interesting thing about paper whites is that MOST people love the scent - but some people loathe it - massed they can smell like cat wee to some - I love the scent - I think they may even have identified a gene which makes a certain kind of person smell cat wee when another smells something delicious x
