    Hello and welcome to BOAB Models - today we will be building the 1935 Aston Martin Ulster in 1/32 scale by Matchbox, a kit which was voted for by my viewers on here.
    This kit was tooled in 1975 and has also been released by AMT. Give it a watch and let me know what you think in the comments.

      Thank you very much! I wonder who the tooling belongs to now.

    Another great build Thomas! Building a vintage kit is such a nice experience. My interest in smaller scale models has been growing lately, and it is nice to see these small scales getting some love from model builders.

      Thanks so much, Jun - I really enjoyed this one. Apparently most 1/32 kits originally came from Britain because that was the scale used by Slot car companies like Scalextric.

    Another nice build Thomas. I was amused by your description of the front sidelights as indicators: Aston Martin were ahead of their time, but not that much. Best wishes.

      Haha I guess my knowledge of pre-war cars needs some work!

    Pretty much agree with your score on that one, I've just finished mine which I bought in about 1975! ( Shows how old i am ! 71) I wish they would re issue some of the others that they did then, there were some really good ones . Your build was excellent and it looks really good. I am pleased with mine but at my age I found it very fiddly especially as I left the head lamps chrome and found them really hard to glue. Thanks again a really entertaining video as usual

      Thank you very much, Robin. I totally agree about them reissuing these. I've seen some AMT reboxes online but I have no idea who owns the tooling now.

    Great build Thomas, when Matchbox appeared on the scene it made Airfix sit up and take note, you've done a really great job well done.
    Matchbox declasdid have big carrier film but also when applying clear before hand it basically puts one layer over it, I think from the video that is what I'm seeing, aloso when removing white tac use a another bit rolled so it's sticky, that removes remaining white tac better than scrapping it

      Thanks very much, Sarah Jane. Makes sense about the decals and white tac, thanks.
      I should look out for more Matchbox kits in the future.

    Nice build, the parts you thought were indicators are actually the shock absorbers. Not the modern telescopic type, but friction shocks. Used on a lot of vintage cars.

      Ah, thanks for letting me know. I tried to research what I could on this car but often speaking to someone who knows their stuff is the best bet.

    What is foam safe glue and where can I find it. Thanks

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  Год назад

      Foam safe CA glue is designed to be used with foam without damaging it, unlike normal CA (also known as super glue) - it can also be used (sparingly) on clear parts without making them go cloudy.
      My one was bought from my local hobby store but other brands like Bob Smith Super gold can be found online.
