- In this episode of “The Mark Agnesi Show,” Mark takes a look at videos going viral on Instagram, he shares his disgust for Worship Guitarists Pedalboards, and he sits down with Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith to discuss their new album “Passwords,” as well as working with T-Bone Burnett on “The New Basement Tapes.”
Mark, you and Jen have done a spectacular job. Best guitar show on the web and only 2 episodes in! I tip my hat to you both. Keep 'em coming! We thank you!!
Another great episode Mark.
Two episodes in, two guests in, and BOTH of them are fans of The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia........this gives me hope for the future of mankind!!!!!!!!!
Just realized, this is the first time I've ever heard Mark sing. Not bad!
Roger that!
@@w13rdguy *4 -10* to your *Roger* dude... You must've been around, here and there, haven't ya... (?)
Love the attention you're bringing to "lesser-known" guitarists. I swear, the guitar mags highlight the same major players over and over again. These eps are great!
Another hit! Sounds like an audience full of Jens with extra reverb...ha
All comments submitted respectfully. With the vast guitar knowledge Mark possesses combined with the endless customer base he continues adding to, not to mention Mark's living room being in L.A., I predict as many seasons airing as the Simpson's and Gun Smoke combined. 'At's a damn bunch.
One was one too many; that yowling is annoying.
@@melvynobrien6193 Ahh come on we all love Jen's porn squeals!
Noooo c'mon, we love Jen's cute laughs. It's fun! Think of it that way. Oh, and don't use headphones real loud during them ;)
@@TheChadPad Thanks for the warning.
I may be in the minority here but I like the production of the Mark's videos as they are. They remind me of the infancy days of DIY on this site when videos literally could be shot, produced and consumed by the masses in a very timely manner. Content is king to me. Just my two cents. Have a safe Holiday season everyone!
better..! the closing song was EPIC. Start AND close with that.. Not about getting loaded at the brunch... I love your playing Mark. When interviewing don't impose your story on theirs... Don't fall into the "competitive mode" that hosts can fall in to. Awesome.
Best part of your show is your rants! Best shit ever dude hahaha. Keep on keeping it real. I’m kind of thinking of your show as the “Joe Rogan show of the guitar industry”
Great great great job Mark and crew!!! Keep on going in the direction you’re going I’m loving it. You guys keep it honest and keep it geeky. Really liked the conversations and topics you chose in the interview 😀
Fun show, great guest, good interview, Mark. I'm sure you'll get better and better as an interviewer. Constructive comment: When your guest is trying to answer your question, don't interrupt--and especially don't mumble a "suggested" answer over your guest's answer! Give them space; sometimes a brief silence will invoke a better answer from your guest.
Thanks for giving Mark a great interview Taylor and Mark keep up the great work your a hit. And, topped it all off with my favorite Stones song, BRAVO fellas.
Dude I play worship and that rant was hilarious! I never understood why they needed so many so many pedals! Another thing where they got so much money for the super high end guitars and amps! I’m happy with my les Paul studio, Princeton and 4 pedals.
One of the best playing LP's I have ever played was a Studio model. The binding doesn't make the guitar play better!!!
@Franky Q - You got a decent set up there. Do ya think those some of those "other" guys get a cut of th' plate that gets passed around?
Jesus pays in cash. Beware the money changers!! lol
It gets better and better, I am truly enjoying all of your show. Hey, that thing about the pedal board, I totally agree with you. The true sound comes from your hands and fingers. Also to me a lot of your sound is in your right hand, go and ask Keith. Keep it coming.
Such a great show! Really hoping you make a bunch of these! Definitely the best on RUclips 👏🏻🤘🏻
Been listening to Dawes for a while but just got turned on to the Mark Agnesi show and Norman’s Rare guitars. This was awesome. Keep it up!
Dear Mark,
I love your new show. Congratulations and I hope you have a very long run. It is insightful and funny. The two guests you have had so far were fantastic. You and Taylor sound great playing harmonizing together by the way. The Stones rock.
I think you are so right about the pedal board thing. They can sound great but too complicated for me to use and figure out. It may be simple but I'm just happy with plugging into my Reissue Fender Deluxe, a little reverb (as you say) and occasionally a BB preamp.
All the best to you and Jen,
JFT
Mark’s show is the exact kind of show we need. Thank you! It’s great!
Great concept... There is allot of regurgitated same ol'e same ol'e on youtube. I enjoyed the 1st episode. And this one aswell.. Looking forward to see what can be done with this. Thank you!
Playing Dead Flowers in front of that painting is classic.....loved it. Great pre-war guitar...just really sings out clear. Loving the new show. Tongue and cheek, honest, fun, and not too serious..... keep it going!
Okay, Mark, get's better with age. The whole 2nd episode is so just so rad. Totally switched up from epi # (pound sign) 1, that it's completely different, and we Loved it !!
Great Ride Brother, Great Ride. !!! Keep them coming. And yeah, I typed above: 'so just so'., because it Fit !
Anyway, cool reporting and information. I'm actually enthralled and subscribed.
Great to see this in depth info on guitar playing. Be yourself and keep 'em coming.
Cheers from Santa Cruz!
I don't care what others think of this 'show' all I know is that it's nice for someone in the guitar community to actually have an OPINION on stuff!
Adding the song at the end was truly great. Keep this up man!
Really enjoyed episode 2 . I am the proud owner of a Mexican Strat so glad to hear you mention it. Good job- looking forward to ep 3 . Love the close duet .
So good! Big fan of Taylor! Sending love from Austin, Texas.
Where's episode 3?
Hallelujah! Spot on about the worship pedal boards, what’s that all about? Loving your work Mark.
I was looking forward to Ep. 3.But it's nowhere to be found! You ruined my Sunday morning! :)
Great show, Mark. It did indeed get "a tiny bit better" compared to Epi 1. Except for that song at the end. That was *waaaaay* better 🤘 and should become your signature ending with your guests.
Dude, this show f'ing rocked, man.
Okay you are setting the bar really high Mark. Greaat show! going to be tough to top Dead Flowers next week.
dead flowers 💐 sounded sweet boys...
(great vocals mark)
pedal board rant is hilarious
love the series
I loved that Dead Flowers version. Absolutely Killer.
indeed....double down on that.
Was a great acoustic version......singing was pretty good too......👍👍
Good Job Mark. Liking the interviews. Great job on Dead Flowers.
Hey Mark I absolutely love your show man and listening to Taylor was really cool I hope and I hope the show really takes off thanks for your knowledge
Can't wait for more! And thanks for going on about the pedal board it's got just way too much bullshit on there they don't need thank you thank you
Great job!!! I look forward to your show as much as GOTD. Keep up the good work. 😎🎶🎸👍
OMG SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT ABOUT THE PRAISE AND WORSHIP PEDALBOARDS! thank you.
where are the full unedited sit-down vids? i'm only seeing the preview vid & two episodes uploaded on the channel
No more studio audience, please
Awesome---really digging your show!!!
Mark, you are a classic after a “couple” of champers. Loved the show.
Great show! Love it!
Dude...that was fun. Just found your show. Gotta get caught up. Off to watch GOTD now.
Agnesi sings! Sounds good, too. The old Gibson has that ... sound. Can't be duplicated. And the
pedal board rant is right on. I have used so much stuff in my almost 60 years of playing guitar,
it's insane. But like most everything in life, less is definitely more. Want to hear how your elec-
tric guitar sounds best? Get a good quality, lower wattage amp; plug in; turn the sucker up; find
a couple (not more than 4) of good stompers, maybe with a good dual overdrive; throw a Cry
Baby in the front and rip. Or forget the pedals. Electric guitars are made to all sound different.
With huge pedal boards, you lose that. It could be any guitar after it goes through all of that mess.
Here's a thought: small Fender Princeton or maybe a Deluxe Reverb + Tube screamer + delay +
wah. Turn it up. And there you have it. People are still trying to get the guitar sounds of the 50's,
60's and 70's and all these people did was basically plug in and play. Less is more.
COOL EPISODE THERE MARK COOL SONG AND SINGING
GREAT GUEST & COOL YAK
GREAT FREAKIN GUITARS PERFECT TONES TOGETHER
YES, A BETTER EPISODE...
CARLOS GUITARLOS ~ SOON
Thank God, "Wayne's World" is finally a REALITY! Party on, Mark.
No other word comes to mind except BRILLIANT!!!
Great stuff ..well worth the wait for the acoustic duo at the end ...cool
Good solid show once more, keep it going Mark.
An another Great Episode! By far, one of the best Shows on RUclips. well done
So rad. Keep it up! It IS getting better.
Dude, I'm a church musician and I'm so with you man! Less pedals more playing!
Great show and good singing! Keep it up!
Hey brother! Keep doing your thing - I'm 16 videos in from my new GearGasms direction and the only way to get better is to keep grinding it out. Adding some clips is a cool idea. Obviously you've already got the comfortable in front of the camera. Having people there helps bring the energy too!!
I love this, not sure if I've ever made that comment about songs on line. Just lush
That. Was. Freaking. Awesome. Totally love Taylor and Dawes. He has such a great melodic brain. Thanks Mark!
mark i love your passion and love for guitars
Great video. Keep em coming!! Nice jam space Mark. Looks like you've got some cool Rock and Roll memorabilia - love that Glitter Twins print. It would be cool to see some room/house tours. Us guitar nerds love to see people's setups, jam spaces and of course the gear. LIKED!!!
Dude it was great to see & hear that old pre-war Gibson!
Great show Mark! Jam sounded great!
Loved to see him feel that solo throughout his entire body. Great episode!
2 shows in and honestly I've found 2 new players to check out more from. That's one of the reasons I'll keep checking out the show.
The rant was cool too !!!
Ha! Completely awesome this is the best show ever.
Keith’s pedal board would have two buttons - on and off.
Very Cool Format... Fun
Is this the first time we've heard Mark sing? Very enjoyable show, I like the silly and casual vibe and the low-fi TV aesthetic. And it definitely hits a nerve for guitar junkies.
Just listened to Sticky Fingers (again) today and had to come back and give this version of Dead Flowers a listen.
Great Show Mark.
Well done. 😎
Loved, loved, loved the song at the end 😀😀👍
Dude, fuckin’ THANK YOU for calling out worship guitarists. I’ve waited years to have someone call bullshit on that. Every fuckin’ Church is like that now.
What's the fretboard made out of on that pre-war Gibson parlor? It looks amazing.
For the show and tell portion it would be nice to show a few high quality still photos of the guitar. I would have loved to see a good close up of the head stock on this one. As well as that fret board, what a beauty of a guitar!
Also - It's good to hear you sing. That song brings memories of one of my favorite guitarist to work with, and a great friend who we lost a few years back. Anyways, thank you for bringing a smile to my face with good memories of dear friend with what was, as far as I can, tell your youtube singing debut.
What a wonderful gift to come to after a Saturday night gig. I'll never miss an episode.
Great show Mark! Thanks
Dead Flowers what a treat awesome job guys!
Please site all songs sang too... You know this stuff... we LOVE to hear (and read) it..!!
Dam thank you for being on RUclips Mark
Dead flowers sounded great in C. Mark you have a good voice! We perform it in its recorded key of D, but it sounds great in C.
Great show!! Greetings from Catalonia!!
still better than every late night talk show :D
2 for 2 Mark!! I like where you're taking us as far as your interviews go, very intimate ( in your home, on your couch ) and more like a couple of old friends just hanging out ( which I imagine you are ). Many years ago, Edmonton Alberta got a new radio station catering to the alternative crowd. Sonic 102.9 is still around so they must have found an audience. The reason I mention it is that every afternoon at 5pm they had a break from the alternative tunes to bring the people "The Furious Frank at Five" where they would play one of Frank Sinatra's standards. It was a really cool little segment. Perhaps when you and your guest perform a song you could make it a segment like "Mark's Melodic Musings" or something that you like "The Saturday Stone's Situation"....you get the idea. Anyway, great show, great guest and a great time!! Take care, can't wait to see next week's program!!
Thank you for roasting the instagram worship guitarists. Somebody had to say it!
A little tip: put a picture of your guest in the thumbnail.
Says it all, doesn’t it?
NO, NO, NO !!! You can see Mark's guest. Just hit that *Full Screen* thing if you can't find your glasses dude...
Hey Mark !!! Put a picture of that clapping and screaming, one person audience in the corner of the screen. That would be more "innovative" Lol... by far... (Sorry... I have to give myself *Thumb UP !!!* for this "brilliant" idea)...
Hey Mark, congrats's on the new show. I have a quick question that probably only you can answer due to your vast knowledge of vintage guitars. In what time frame did Gibson use the embossed Gibson logo pickup covers. I was told late 70' to early 73', is this acurate to your knowledge. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
The combo of WWJP and Dead Flowers was already enough for a good episode. Keep it up!
This week’s rant was the best part!
i love it dude, hope this blows up , you should also be playing somemore stuff after all your gifted. and that live audience wow
Love it...regards from France
Good stuff. Thanks for what you do Mark. Just made my smoke filled NorCal day a little better
Jesus would of played a Martin but anyhow great show won't miss em and that jam was stellar I hope Mark sings more. Awesome job!
Would _have_ ...
Mark.... lol I’m loving the end of the episodes where you rant!!! Keep that stuff going!!! Huge pedal boards. Lol. Keep it simple or don’t bother with the pedals. You’re killing me. Love it. And an awesome Dead Flowers!!!
Rooting for you guys and you’re doing great so far Mark! I think with a little time, you’ll settle in with an established format and really start to lean into things, and it will feel a little more relaxed and not quite as forced or stiff. Cheers amigo!
Love it. Keep it up.
Where is this bonus footage you speak of?
Great show mark maybe try and do some more backgrounds with the green screen to add some more visual effects! that video of the guy on the boxs' was funny AF and yall like give him the right guitar lmao so true!
Mark! Thank you for making a guitar show that is actually a true guitar show! Honestly this could be aired on TV! Even if people aren't musicians, they would watch this! So cool! Thanks again Mark!
Why can't I see the full length videos you keep talking about?
Came for the rants and left a happy man.
keep it up - we- are watching
Good to see another episode Mark, how about show us your amps that you use at home, and the home settings, maybe the pedals too, thanks Mark and Jen!!!
Enjoying the show! It's my Sunday morning viewing over here in the UK. What's the fretboard of the Gibson acoustic made of, anyone?
Excellent pedal board rant, Mark. Bravo!
You got me with this one!
Subscribed with 2 bells...
Nice playing!
Btw. Jesus would have been playing a Pine Tele, clean, just a little bit of reverb.
