Episode 3 of "The Mark Agnesi Show," Mark takes on stupid guitar accessories, the death of the electric guitar, and sits down with guest Jared James Nichols.
I love Jared's approach with no pick, one pickup, straight in and cranked. I'm a pick player, but my rig is an Esquire straight into a cranked Carr Rambler. It's all about simplicity and working on your craft!
Mark you did a great thing by having Jared James Nichols on your show. Less than a week later I saw him in person at a local guitar store here in Calgary. That dude can play and he is a great guy. I would not have seen him if it was not for him being on your show.
Loving the show - the laid back conversational interviews, playing the song at the end... even the low-fi "Public Television" vibe. Most of all - promoting the up-and coming players - great stuff. Keep it going!
like the show it's cool and to me just as cool when Marks on the couch at Norman's. Maybe we just wanna see Mark JAM out more on a couch, chair.... where ever as long as the EQ's are all at noon lolol can't wait for more keep it up!!
Hi Mark, enjoyed your show, thank you 👏. Also appreciate your comments on the livelihood of electric guitars and the experience we pursue. Same goes for the cool leather jackets . Happy holidays to you, your family, and friends!
Yeah same here. Wanted to grab a few T-shirts but the shipping price is too much! Please send it via USPS and it should cost about $5-10 for shipping to Canada.
Mark forget a career in guitar related things. You belong on Comedy Central. You have a natural comedic talent that has me laughing to the point of crying. Keep up the great work man, I love the show a look forward to the next one. On a side note make some long sleeve shirts with the shows logo and I'll buy a couple of them. 🤘
👍🏼 Yeah! ⚡️Double Denim⚡️ And I noticed Mark refilled his glass... I’m going to do the same right now... Thanks Mark for sharing/ Thanks Jen for framing up the boys! -George SB
The irony of winning a gold top LP from Gibson, having then to sell it immediately for rent, only to end up with a black Custom LP as your go-to. Wow! A tangled web life can be.. Glad it worked out. Keep up the good work, Jared. Thumbs up to Mark and Jen!!! for this cool idea of a show. I know I am a little late to the party. But better late than never!!
Great episode. Killer player. I just wish that you had included the part about where he talks about pickups, like was mentioned in the beginning. Must be in the unedited footage. Keep up the good work. Great show.
Thanks Mark. Jared is a breath of fresh air on the music scene these days. Having almost 50 years on this planet I remember when the synth was king for a decade, then a little band called Pearl Jam came along and guitar become king again. Everything happens in cycles . These so called R&B main stream artists will soon be toppled of the top 40 perch by the likes of Jarred & Geta Van Fleet. Thank you for your great show and reviews..
Man the guest today was definitely my favortie so far. The honesty about the hours you have to put in is very encouraging man. Cause to me it seems like FOREVER before you have the confidence to be great lol I can play a lick all day everyday and then put an audience in front of me and im f*ckin up smh. Anyway great episode
I came back to this episode as I heard on guitar rundowns latest on skynryds rig jared toured with them i then heard it on this video again, they are my favorite band i'm 15 learning all there songs they inspire me i then hear on the outro of this video played by jared and mark it was touching, a dream of mine is to bring southern rock/Skynryds music back to the youth hopefully jared will do this as his playing is incredible
Nice to see some amazing talent coming from my home state of Wisconsin! What area of the state is Jared from? I'm about 35 miles west of Green Bay. His style of playing without a pick reminds me of the great Mark Knopfler. Cool show and great interview as usual.
Great interview and jam. Handshake at the end is good. Jen's jingle singing is fun, maybe recruit someone to add harmony; her shadow is also sometimes visible on the wall--a nice silhouette ;^) Cheers.
Lovin the crappy voice over "Dumb ass guitar accessories!". And was JJN trying to subliminally get us viewers to press the "like" button, as there was a huge bias towards the word "like"! He got it in at every given opportunity! Another cool show, thank you and your team.
I got the Belt for my birthday it literally allows me to jam everywhere the beach the grocery store a hike in the woods unlimited possibilities ! Get one today !!!!
As a young player i had tapes of SRV but had never seen a music video or a concert of him and one day at "The Tape Deck" in the mall i browsed their video tapes and found a VHS copy of "Live at El macombo" I remember grabbing it like someone could appear at any second and take it away from me. I couldn't believe a concert of him existed and made my poor mother find me in the store and wouldn't leave unless i could get this tape. She eventually bought it and after that i went through 3 or 4 of them eventually. I would lock myself in my room after stealing the VCR from the living room and just watch and play along until i could play halfway decent.
Guitar is not ever going to die , just the way we get our music and the way we shop is so freakin different now it’s crazy ! PS saw SRV on the Fourth of July 1990 Best live show I’ve ever seen it was nothing less than magical
Greetings from Denmark! Great show again Mark..! Jared is cool.... It would be awesome to get 'Philip Sayce' on the show, a really badass player!!! Mike
I saw a video from "fretted americana" that featured Jared instead of Phil X, and was amazed someone else could play like Phil X, but with better taste. Great video - thanks guys!!
Not even gonna lie . Them shirts are pretty damn fly! Love the content dude. I feel like your the voice of how every guitar player really feels these days. Rock on dude.
Sweet banner Mark. I chased a maple banner for a spell but I’ll never get over the Roy Smeck you played earlier this year.I also chased one for years but had to settle for a recent 2014 J35 baked red spruce top. Maybe someday. Great feeling and total commitment. Your an inspiring player Mark. Another misnomer about guitar sales is the fact that there are more than a few guitar companies. All the ma and pa independent Luthier’s have had to have made a dent into sales of the big 3-Gibson, fender, and PRS. Your correct that they need to up their game with all the great independent and small shop builders. Hell, even Eastman is killing it with the varnish and nitro vintage line. I bought a SB59 on a whim and and I would have had to spend more than 5 times the amount to get Les Paul of that quality. One of the R-8’s couldn’t compare and I don’t like saying that. I’m a died in the wool Gibson vintage fan, especially the late 20’s to mid 40’s era. L-5’s to L-OO’s and all the J models in between. That’s the one thing that will never be again and there is no competition to the great Gibson’s, Martin’s and various other builders of that era. That wood paired with workmanship will never come again. Truly the golden age of acoustics but the small shop and independent Electric builds of today will be seen as another golden era. Even Mexican fenders are incredible for the money as are some of the cheaper acoustics. Had I started out with what 4 or 5 hundred dollars can buy you today I may have made a bit more progress. Great guest and it was refreshing to see someone play with their fingers. That has been lost. I still have a hell of a time holding a pick and you do lose the connection that flesh, wood and steel can bring. Keep up the good work. Love the common sense cynicism.
Here's a tangent for you. My Dad is a huge Les Paul fan. The man. Not the guitar. So when I was learning waaaay back when we had a version of "How High The Moon" on a compilation album and I learned a guitar solo from it. Fast forward about 40 years and I got a bunch of Les Paul tracks for my Dad, and when I listened to "How High The Moon" the solo wasn't on it. Mandela effect moment? Or are there multiple versions of that track kicking around?
love this where it's been and where it's going. great work mark and jen. I saw stevie at the aragon ballroom in chicago before he was bigtime and jesus gonzales could that guy rip up the place. we drank beer from from large popcorn buckets - that's how they sold it.
Wtf?!? The world needs more of this! Someone finally nails a show for musicians put out a couple then vanishes? It's not like you got a job working for a badass company that eats up all your time... oh wait.... hahaha gibson should help you produce more like asap!
You've a knack for being a talk show host... makes me wonder about this format in general (as opposed to network stuff (?)) Thanx for another great episode and, OH ...what's the 411 on the Black Beauty? ...and that really great sounding acoustic? (Details, details) -cheers
This is so refreshing, I love guitars but seeing reviews of the same shit over and over, the same comparisons and demos, definitely getting old, this kind of content was much needed, thank you
i just started playing guitar now and literally all i think about is the guitar and every chance i get im at a music shop i am in love with guitars(i am 19 btw super late i know.) i love your channel too
So my first trip to Venice Beach.....early 1980..... there's this guy on roller skates with a battery powered amp in a backpack and a guitar cruising around.....that belt is just a technological improvement.....what they needed is the roller skates.....or maybe one of those powered skate boards to make it work......
Cool that he dropped the pick. Derek Trucks has that affect on people I guess lol. I haven’t gone fully pickless but started doing a lot of hybrid picking since I really started getting into his music.
If you're gonna be great at anything you have to be obsessed with it. We should all strive to find our passion and work towards it and once you're at the top send the elevator back down. 😎🤘
I bet that guitar belt was the idea of Gibson's ex CEO
Lol
That's good man that's really good that's hilarious LMAO
This was my first thought, too. It's the last "lifestyle" contribution before he was canned, LoL.
Hahaha I love this comment!
Classy jam at the end.... Tuesday gone. It's good sign when you felt that the show was too short. Quality!
Don't understand why is everyone ranting about Jen. I find her cheering and laughing quite contagious and funny.
Cause those guys are probably jelly lol.
Jen is to mark what Andy Richter is to Conan OBrien
cuz Trolls gotta hate. It's their nature. Jen rules! More of Jen less of the trolls!
petar kosovic Shes lovely !!
It’s a good thing That he lets his playing talk for him .
This is a must see on the Tube! Great interview Mark, can’t wait for next week.
I love Jared's approach with no pick, one pickup, straight in and cranked.
I'm a pick player, but my rig is an Esquire straight into a cranked Carr Rambler.
It's all about simplicity and working on your craft!
The studio audience is killing me,
Pretty cheesy all around lmao
Mark I've been watching you for a couple of years now, and am a big fan. Thank you!!!!!!
Marcus King next?
Anthony Stroud fuck yes
Marcus King? Yes, please!
Awesome show! Looking forward to future episodes.
Mark you did a great thing by having Jared James Nichols on your show. Less than a week later I saw him in person at a local guitar store here in Calgary. That dude can play and he is a great guy. I would not have seen him if it was not for him being on your show.
Whole thing is amazing love having this channel first 4 min literally had me dying!!
Loving the show - the laid back conversational interviews, playing the song at the end... even the low-fi "Public Television" vibe. Most of all - promoting the up-and coming players - great stuff. Keep it going!
Well you did it again. You are now a go to site for great shows. Keep it up.😀
Great show. Gets my stamp of approval for sure with JJN.
Great show mark, keep it up
Best jam so far, can't wait for the unedited interview
Looked everywhere for last week’s episode. Stoked I didn’t miss it. Awesome stuff.
Guys the real deal! Enjoyed it! Thanks!
like the show it's cool and to me just as cool when Marks on the couch at Norman's. Maybe we just wanna see Mark JAM out more on a couch, chair.... where ever as long as the EQ's are all at noon lolol can't wait for more keep it up!!
Keep doing your show your way. PS, love the mix of "champagne" and breath mints on the table. Gotta control that dragon breath while talking! LOL
Favorite episode so far, Jared is awesome! Great job!
That tray full of picks makes me happy, there's so many and they're so accessible!
Man! What a show. Great taste in guests and guitars! Missed y’all last week. Thanks Mark.
Really enjoyed this... Great job!
Hi Mark, enjoyed your show, thank you 👏. Also appreciate your comments on the livelihood of electric guitars and the experience we pursue. Same goes for the cool leather jackets . Happy holidays to you, your family, and friends!
Hey Mark! When are you gonna put an album out? You’ve got the chops and the vocal abilities!
Mark.. $40USD shipping to Canada.. bro... I want to support the cause but I don’t have Norm money over here. Keep up the solid content
Yeah same here. Wanted to grab a few T-shirts but the shipping price is too much! Please send it via USPS and it should cost about $5-10 for shipping to Canada.
Great show homey...don't change a thing ! I really dig Jared's influences showing thru
Mark forget a career in guitar related things. You belong on Comedy Central. You have a natural comedic talent that has me laughing to the point of crying. Good one Mark, keep them coming.
👍🏼 Yeah!
⚡️Double Denim⚡️
And I noticed Mark refilled his glass... I’m going to do the same right now... Thanks Mark for sharing/ Thanks Jen for framing up the boys!

Love the show Mark! Bring some cold beers and tell rock and roll stories.
The irony of winning a gold top LP from Gibson, having then to sell it immediately for rent, only to end up with a black Custom LP as your go-to. Wow! A tangled web life can be.. Glad it worked out. Best guitar channel right now. Authentic.
Enjoyed the show. Great version of Tuesdays gone!
Thanks Mark. Jared is a breath of fresh air on the music scene these days. Best Show Yet!
Nice to see some amazing talent coming from my home state of Wisconsin! What area of the state is Jared from? I'm about 35 miles west of Green Bay. His style of playing without a pick reminds me of the great Mark Knopfler. Cool show and great interview as usual.
I'm pretty sure he's from East Troy or around that area
I know what Mark is getting for Christmas! LOL!!!
P-90's baby ! That thing sounds great ! Great show Mark and JJN !
most awesome show yet, dude!!!
Great interview and jam. Handshake at the end is good. Jen's jingle singing is fun, maybe recruit someone to add harmony; her shadow is also sometimes visible on the wall--a nice silhouette ;^) Cheers.
Man at the end of the jam you know y’all connected a bit while playing. Really wasn’t much to say cuz y’all were flowin. Love that. Music at its core
I see people complaining about the laughing in the background. Don't listen to them. I love the laugh. Gives the show a comforting feel of humanity.
Love your rants!
Owned about 6 different guitars in 30 years of playing and still have never bought one new. Nice show 👍
Cool show can't wait till the next one
Love the show!
Lovin the crappy voice over "Dumb ass guitar accessories!". And was JJN trying to subliminally get us viewers to press the "like" button, as there was a huge bias towards the word "like"! He got it in at every given opportunity! Another cool show, thank you and your team.
Great show! Just getting better and better
Mark, you ever have a Gibson The Paul II 1997 on Guitar of the day ?Or do you ever get one in at Norms? Thanks DM
Loved Tuesday’s Gone, killer. 3 for 3!
Jen's segment "vocal special effects" truly are special!
That was freaking awesome.

p.s I strangely got unsubscribed from this - but don't worry I'm back on. Do a section on capos sometime?
Greetings from Denmark!

That a P90 in the bridge on that Black LP?
Great interview Mark.

I appreciate the improvement with the thumbnails. Looks really good.
Why on earth didn't this show continue?? It was the best guitar show yet.
Awesome show!! Mark rocks it!!
Not even gonna lie . Them shirts are pretty damn fly! Love the content dude. I feel like your the voice of how every guitar player really feels these days. Rock on dude.

Jared rules. His IG videos on his little digital amp are better than 99% of anything out there.
Jen half-singing the segment titles is funny. I'd like to see that continue.
I never realised how much guitar fan's complain, this channel made me realise this.
love this where it's been and where it's going. great work mark and jen. I saw stevie at the aragon ballroom in chicago before he was bigtime and jesus gonzales could that guy rip up the place. we drank beer from from large popcorn buckets - that's how they sold it.

Awesome show!
Great job. Thanks for the jam at the end
Best show on the tube.
Awesome performance I love that song!
Suuiich a great show cant wait for the next episode
That second solo was sweet. I could totally hear the benefit of no pick. Good stuff
Wtf?!? The world needs more of this! Someone finally nails a show for musicians put out a couple then vanishes? It's not like you got a job working for a badass company that eats up all your time... oh wait.... hahaha gibson should help you produce more like asap!

What if you could only have one accoustic guitar, one electric guitar, and one bass what would you choose
So my first trip to Venice Beach.....early 1980..... there's this guy on roller skates with a battery powered amp in a backpack and a guitar cruising around.....that belt is just a technological improvement.....what they needed is the roller skates.....or maybe one of those powered skate boards to make it work......
Still loving the show Mark! Thanks!
Just keep being yourself, go with your gut and all will be fine on the Mark Agnesi show.
Cool that he dropped the pick. Derek Trucks has that affect on people I guess lol. I haven’t gone fully pickless but started doing a lot of hybrid picking since I really started getting into his music.
I've done the same. It's probably about half and half these days..

dragon7590 i want to be utube's greatest comments writer!
Maybe in the middle you could take a break and cut to the commercial -- and have Jen do the commercial!
I dont get why everyone is complaining, this is good quality content
