- We're back in the world of your human body and your Cells at Work / Hataraku Saibou! I breakdown scenes from episode 10 from a real doctor's perspective. I'll be reacting to scenes and attempting to share a little bit more about the science behind the best science anime.
We learn a bit more about Staphylococcus Aureus, coagulase, phagocytosis, monocytes and macrophages!
This is more of a lighter episode, and recaps a lot of things we've already seen in the series.
This is part of a series reviewing Cells at Work, you can find the whole playlist here:

Doctor A: "I've discovered a new bacteria, but I don't know what to call it"
Doctor B: "Well, it looks like some round, yellow grapes. You can call it that"
Doctor A: "Nah, it needs more pizazz... What if it was that, but in Latin?"
Pizazz. Whatazz
_Or Greek~!_
pizazz hands
Med student: And this bacteria is called............. *Wtf is this?!?*
In Chinese it's literally just that. 金黃葡萄球菌 (Golden yellow grape spherical bacterium). No "make it Latin" fuss there.
Not gonna lie, no matter how long I wait, I still love to learn things about subjects I never want to go in
Nice ass
Same
Well said

Gives us much respect for those who do go in it. A little bit of knowledge for us to appreciate all the knowledge and work put into this stuff. Like being a doctor and education youtuber!

It's Inoue Kikuko. How could you not fall under the spell of her wonderfully lyrical voice?
> Knows that the monocytes will become macrophages before the big reveal
See, this is why you go to med school
You learn all these facts so that you can know what's gonna happen in a medical anime
I love how he spoils the twist in the episodes just using his vast knowledge in the subject and his video interpretation. This just shows how great details this show went into. Thanks again for another deep dive in "cells at work".
"SO I have some idea of what this cell might be, buuut let's wait and see." aka: I have no bloody idea what that thing is.

*Dr. Hope:* **explaining Coagulase** You might think, oh why the bacteria would want to do that.
*Me:* **sweating nervously** Yes, that was definitely what I was thinking.
I thought so
I actually had a thought that maybe it want a patch of skin like it was used to outside the body.
I think the fact that you waited for Prof. Hope to explain with his knowledge makes a lot more sense than homesick bacteria

Watching this episode while having pneumonia is something else.
My cells are working so hard right now 😭🥺💕
6:45 PTSD got triggered
How is that triggering your ptsd? It didn't trigger mine but I know triggers can differ between individuals.
I agree but damn... it was funny. XD
Coagulation cascade is... something. Now add the pressure of university education on top of that.
I'm just glad that I never had to take biology or anything related to that in high school or university.
11:55 The macrophage he cut out looks like it's screaming in agony, lmao. You alright there, doc?
Im not first,
Im not last,
But when Dr hope watches "cells at work",
I click fast
This is poetry on a whole new level
Lololi
I just got done with my college Microbiology course and an Anatomy course last semester. I also watched this show as it was on first run, and I gotta say, holy crap were the creators of Cells at Work on their game! Everything that was shown in the show is spot on to what you would learn going into Med/Nursing School. Doctor Hope, I am so happy you showed this off!
Grab your notes everyone, class on.
Make sure you note it down as it's almost the end of semester and final is near.
I know that feeling! Finals is waving!😲

I love how not even 5 minutes in and he already spoiled the "twist" in the episode!

awesome episode doc! i'm looking forward for the "hemorrhagic shock" one
woooh! another cells at work episode. always glad to see these. didn't know monocytes could become dendritic cells as well. learn something new everyday :)
I really hope you continue on with the next 3 episodes of season 1. I love how your comments are really adding another level of depth and understanding to making sense of what would otherwise may be interpreted as the understandings of reality according to a madman.
Also season 2 has been announced for July 2020. I can't wait!
Yay cells at work is baaaaack!
Welcome back Doc😍😍. I have never clicked a video so fast,🤚 to God 😇😇
The only reaction channel to be both educational and very note to detail.
2nd season is currently on the way for airing
This is a very long waiting but glad to see this reaction video once again for educational purpose XD
I love watching you gush over this cartoon. I know on episode 1 you were like "Oh this will just be a kiddy show that explains the basics" but Noooo. I love how impressed you are each time you see something that makes sense from a science perspective.
I can't wait for your reaction to the next episode! I really enjoyed learning more from you
*sigh* thanks, I hate it.
An MMORPG based on this would be so perfect. Class changes and everything, RAID bosses being major infections... The list goes on.
You're running out of room again on that page! Super enjoyable to watch as allways.
Being a doctor is like knowing all the spoilers to this series.
Yayy more Cells at Work! I actually decided to watch the anime because of your videos on it!
"That is one hella big bunch of grapes" is not something I expected to hear from a medical professional
When I first saw the monocytes turn into the macrophages I laughed like a lunatic
This probably the first time I ever got spoiled about something in an anime episode, and not get mad about it. I love learning like this.
Best way to start a Friday. Watching my favourite doctor react to the Cells at work's "How to play whack a mouse with style" episode. As always great reaction and explanation of episode and i like how you add in details such as the schematic of how the coagulation factors lead to the formation of fibrin.
I had ALWAYS wondered if Episode 10 was referring to MRSA where it is relatively overpowered & particularly resistant to attempts to stamp it out like earlier infections seen in earlier episodes.
miss macrophage is best girl she's my favorite too
I see you are a man of culture.
My best girl is Natural Killer cell though. Those biceps are hot!
Althea but of course!
Oh, goodness. The nostalgia I felt when you likened them to the Megazord. Haha!
I love this series!! Thanks for giving us your take on it :D
I’ve learned more biology with this commentary than my actual classes 😂
I always get a little spark of serotonin when I see these videos in my subscription feed
Omigod I'm so early!
Thank you for reacting doc! Huge fan!
Finally!
I missed this so much
You really, really explain things the way people like us(who is not a medical related experts) too understand these kind of things. Amazing.
Cant wait for doc to reach episode 12-13 Cuz DANG its emotional I cried
The Macrophagies are the best characters. I've always loved characters who can remain smiling and unphased while dishing out beatdowns to the badguys.
Please do the final two episodes in one video. It is a two part episode, so doing episode 12 on it's own wouldn't make much sense. I am enjoying this series as always.
Note that Monocyte's face is covered. Maybe allowing their "identity" as a macrophage or dendritic cell to be revealed/determined later?
Oh hey! I kept watching, and whadayaknow...
I've never seen someone watch an anime so slowly. Especially one that can be easily bunged watch. But he takes his time which is commendable.
7:22 Dynamaxed Staphylococcus
Never stop making these videos please. I'm learning a lot
Are those disease cubes from pandemic?
Correct!
After the end of Team Fortress 2 the Pyro rejoined his family in their cleansing business as a Monocyte. :P
Just found this on Netflix with outstanding english dubbing. watched the first 10 episodes, following each with your review of the episodes. Really adds a lot to the show with the medical insight. Hope you review the last 2 (or 3?) episodes! And can't wait for Season 2.
I’m a little over 4 minutes into the video going “little do you know how you’re spoiling this episode”
So happy you stayed with this series. Has anyone noticed for a while they weren't getting notifications or seeing any of Dr Hopes videos? Because I wasn't seeing any since the doctor strange video and it seems the view count for most of the videos since then dropped off. Stupid YT algorithm.
hope you can react as well to manga(comic) called isekai yakkyoku, its story about genius doctor who send to another world (its like europe in a middle ages) and develope his modern medicine to this world
Yess please😆
Good work, your almost to the finale where the world almost ends
Guys with a suit is Monocyte (intravascular) and turns into Macrophage (extravascular). As for the corkscrew shaped bacterium, i'm guessing it is Treponema. Man, this body is a mess! ✌😅
Well, you're probably the first guy in the comments to have a guess at what the unknown bacterium might be.
I have no clue if you're right or not (Though looking it up, it looks more like a spiral than a corkscrew), but good job with the effort!
@@maximumdon7637 well, it can't be Borrelia since most of the spp. are either anaerobic or aerotolerants. My other guess is Leptospira but then again, I might be wrong.
I do it all the time so I know how easy it is to do it, but you accidentally put a Star Wars video at the end of the Cells at Work playlist.
I would reccomend you to read and react the manga. And yet I would feel that you be spoiling yourself. 😂
I like how the macrophages sound so innocent while murdering a bacteria (or breaking down the bacteria idk)
Macrophage : "All maidens have a secret or two, you know!"
I wanted Dr.Hope to disclose "maidens' secret".
But, as English gentleman, Dr.Hope didn't. - > -
please react to ep11 "Heat Stroke". ....... before end of summer.
Other doctors: Your infection should start clearing up real soon.
Dr. Hope: WHEEE!
I love the macrophages, just being sweet and full of cheer as they brutally destroy every pathogen in their way. So wholesome.
Honestly, your diagram of macrophages phagocytosing looked like a funny face a kid would draw. Really love this series!
I love the Cells at Work breakdowns.

Hey,
I really used to dislike biology in school, I didnt understand a single thing about cells but watching you, its not that I only enjoy your reactions the most - I love hearing your explanations and I love learning from them, I have a hard time understanding things but you visualize it so well and its really really fun to enjoy your video but also learn something. My good doctor, I have never clicked on a doctor's RUclips video so quickly. I'm glad that you are enjoying this series as I also liked it a lot. Thank you for your hard work and keep them coming. P.S. I really like the macrophage as well
Nah, the yellow aura is it's menacing presence. CELLDO POWAH!
Fun fact, failure in the formation of the phagolysosome is due to a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder known as Chediak-Higashi Syndrome. Most often it's due to mutations in the LYST protein, which regulates lysosomal trafficking.
doctor .. this way you won't finish this show even after we enter 2020!

Hope you get to finish this someday. Just one episode left. Yours has been the most thorough medical review of the show I've seen on RUclips.
Thank you Dr. Hope for your videos! I'm an NP student and I can really relate to the haunted memories of learning about coagulation cascade...Love the little learning points you have throughout the episodes. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!
The reveal was something else for those of us who didn't know what was coming 😂
Found your channel when you started reviewing Cells at Work
Lol that yellow flame around her is the typical aura seen on a villain in anime.
I know it's too late for this, but prepare yourself, doctor, for the bacteria episodes.
I've never been so happy in my life when the school decided to give us an assignment and the basis of it is cells at work in our biology class!
With your explanation it really helps expands the definition given in the anime.
It’s really cool that it’s so accurate that you can literally predict where the show is going with your medical knowledge, it’s both cool to learn more and to see a show that clearly put a TON of effort into representing the immune system as accurately as they could with cute anime girls and giant swords, it’s great
Maybe the bacterium at 1:07 is supposed to be a Spirochaete or a Spirillium; not sure which one, but the spiral design reminds me of them.
I just remembered that later in the manga (not the anime yet) we get to see Campylobacter, which has a very similar design.
maybe the squiggles drawn on its arms mean something
