Jay does have a good falsetto voice but not as good as brian wilson in his prime. Don't get me wrong i love the tokens but I'm a harmony lover. Thats why i love the beach boys.
Hey Howard - yes he does!! My step dad (Warren Schwartz) sang with Jay Siegel (leader of the Tokens) in high school, in their band(s) the "LincTones" and "Darrel and the Oxfords" - He sang with them in the Tokens too, but wasnt with the band shortly after the original radio recording (feel free to look any of this up). I'm 54, and have known Jay and wife Judy (and their kids), since I was about 5..... Saw them at Eisenhower park 2 years ago.... it was like a reunion... and yeah... I AM AMAZED at how great Jay still sounds, at .....77?
best connected tribal insider voice perhaps........... but there is a massive amount of talent out there that never gets a shot at the bigs.......and that's a damned shame.
"Wimoweh" ... One of those timeless songs .. "so" different.. One can't help think about the king of the jungle, and how important it is to preserve these beautiful animals; which play their role in nature's balance. Lovely rendition. April, 2017.
Am a 97 ,hear the song 2017 but I'll watch all the video cause he one .mad my day fast one month Everyone could sing for night sleep ,but iam only one hear daily morning wakeup song XD
And this whole time I was thinking that song was specifically made for The Lion King ... Imagine being able to live the rest of your life rich off of making one song that forever resonates with every generation
The absolute best falsetto voice I've ever heard. Jay Segal, and he's held that voice for how many years. Also, I hear, "Way up High" but can't find it in any video
Jay Traynor (original Jay & The Americans) was still alive at this performance....saw The Tokens many times over the years and the shows that Jay Traynor sang "She Cried" were always the highlight of the show.
Quite the showman very good video,im impress with the young lady that went from the sax to the clarinet,i guess that's a two -for from a lovely lady with talent.I also see a wedding ring that some lucky guy put around her finger
Talk about multi-generational! This song goes back to the late 1940s-1950s when Pete Seeger & the Weavers brought it to life. Check out their versions on RUclips, too!
Jay was just on the Tony Orlando radio show last night WABC Ny great Interview was telling how that song made them famous it was there warm up song and a record producer was walking by his house heard it in Brooklyn the rest is history
I've watched many of the PBS specials, and enjoyed most of them. It's amazing that many still sound the same, but because of the years they look different. I sometimes close my eyes and listen to them sing, then open my eyes and go 'huh? I that's them?' It's great that most can still sing like before.
The title was "Mbube" by Solomon Linda in 1939. The rights were stolen from him by US record executives. He died penniless. His family sued Disney who now holds the rights to the song, and won. Solomon Linda now has to be credited with writing the song and royalties must be paid to his family. ruclips.net/video/4llIwk0BK8A/видео.html
No Auto Tuner needed for these guy's. Pure Talent and Class.

Jay does have a good falsetto voice but not as good as brian wilson in his prime. Don't get me wrong i love the tokens but I'm a harmony lover. Thats why i love the beach boys.

Very COOL. THANKS for posting : )
Me encanta, me transporta a mi niñez, pero no es lo mismo sin la corista, que es la que da el misterio y la vida a la melodía y a la canción
Great music, great men's ♥
This is a Zulu forklore song sang way back in 1930s. By a Zulu Man Solomon Linda .The Americans were quick take credit that was not theirs
