I have never seen a single Nunsense production and after 90 minute what I have mostly learned is that it is exactly what the name implied it would be, on every possible level.
A wonderful and in-depth analysis of the Nunsense franchise! 😍😊 I also find it’s interesting how the actress Christine Toy Johnson, the original Sister Mary Leo, was an Asian-American actress to star in the first 2 Nunsense franchises, before being replaced by other actresses
This is such an eloquent discussion of these shows, far and away more than I thought could result from bingewatching all of them in one day. I'm definitely looking forward to watching your video on The Drowsy Chaperone, and others as well!
I’m surprised the driving ms daisy joke wasn’t just a greased lightning reference (since the whole gag of the set is that it’s for a production of grease)
Re: 1:08:41 Sally Struthers was on All in the Family....so maybe she isn't the best person to judge if someone can or cannot be offended by the content of media.
To be fair in regards to the Christmas Nuncrackers - it's a holiday special. Which I think lends itself to a more loose performance all around as the plot isn't as captivating as the "Christmas spirit." People come to hear and watch Christmas-themed canotical Nonsense stuff specifically, not a new and deeper show. IMO. :)
i’ve just been cast as sister hubert in nunsense and was sent this to watch since i basically know next to nothing about this show other than it’s general plot so i can’t wait to see how i feel by the end of watching this 🤣
i just finished my run of nunsense and i’m finally getting around to finishing watching this video and i’m SO glad we took out *that* verse of difficult transition (we also changed a LOT of lines, as well as a line in “just a couple of sisters”)
Hmm. Why so smug? Criticizing a cultural & commercial force of nature... because... ? Not for nothing, but Nunsense was a massive boon for Actors-- likely the source of more earned Equity cards than any other show-- and if not *the* record holder, then I'd put money on it making the podium...
They aren’t smug, and they’re not doing anything wrong by giving their opinion and critique of a musical; it’s obviously something they’re passionate about, and put so much work and consideration into it
Dan Goggin just launching into a rant about the G*psy Robe completely unprompted is one of the greatest plot twists ever
You are the keeper of the Nunsense lore now.
May the Lord have mercy on your soul.

The best performance shown in this video is Zach just listening and nodding along to Dan...
Been saving this watch for months. Just finished performing a local run of Nunsense today 😂
i wasn't prepared for the plot twist in this journey. your nodding and poise on that zoom call was incredible 😅
Thank you for this very in-depth exploration and critique of this long-running theatrical series that I had never heard of even once before this.

Recently found your channel and I adore it. (Shoutout to your ace pin too. Solidarity!)

"happiness is found in shallowness" is exactly what i would expect of a man who lived in a seven person share house on fire island in the seventies
Rewatching this wonderful video essay. Realized that this has been in the works for over three months and the work SHOWS!!! Thank you for this.
Yes, I watched this entire video and I loved every second
Very cool in-depth entertaining video, I'm surprised you're not more popular!
So not the point but thank you for being the first RUclipsr I've seen in ages who can pronounce the word "coif" correctly.
Wonderful video! As a theatre nerd from Vietnam, I learnt a lot from your critical takes of the various musical and theatrical works 😊
another stellar video essay!!

What ARE the new lyrics to "A difficult transition"?
Re: 1:08:41 Sally Struthers was on All in the Family....so maybe she isn't the best person to judge if someone can or cannot be offended by the content of media.
I actually saw, years ago, Sally Struthers in Nunsense and she was hilarious.

i don't envy you on a video call with a stranger you have a fundamental disagreement with

Still watching, but just wanted to knot a small misstep-father Virgil as sister, Mary, Julia child… of God. Lol
