    Well you kept that one quiet! I've had plenty of chub to 5lb on fly but never a Barbel! A target for me too next summer. Top fluff chucking! 👌

      Hi Mark, really appreciate your kind feedback, thanks mate.
      The Ribble is utterly enchanting. We have a lot to learn still and I think in a single lifetime, we will only scratch the surface of this magnificent river!
      We have more ribble videos from this season in production too (Grayling and Chub 😀)

    Well done the pair of you. Long time since I caught a barbel on fly but it's great fun. I've had small trout go between the legs but wouldn't want to deal with a barbel that did that. I must admit, though, I wouldn't want either of you as a ghillie chasing the fish with the landing net.

    • @albionangling
      @albionangling  2 года назад +1

      Which rivers did you fly fish for Barbel? The conditions had to be perfect for us to have any chance on the Ribble.
      Rest assured, no plans for Ghillie work!

      The Ribble does sort the men from the boys, it can give you the best or the worst days fishing depending what mood its in 🤣. Sad to say that we have never fished it in winter, so we are keen to do some trotting there before the season is out and when levels allow.

      I've not caught big numbers of barbel this season but all the barbel I have caught have been on float or fly. No ledgering! Its been a huge learning curve but with unrivalled reward.

    Well done great video. This is how I've been doing most of my barbel fishing for the last few years. You can't beat barbel on fly gear. I use cream colour squirmys and big cream colour maggot or grub imitations barbel love light coloured flys. I'd ditch the indicators they just spook the fish. Great stuff fellas keep the videos coming.

    • @albionangling

      We will follow your advice and put the lighter coloured squirmies to the test this summer, thanks for the tips 😀. We want to make another video too!
      We use the indicator where we can't sight fish for them, only specific conditions allow for sight fishing for them on our Ribble, otherwise indicators do help when in coloured/deeper runs. Very open to suggestions though! What rivers/swims are you employing this method?
      Cheers,
