The quiet moments between the two friends, the silent shots of courtyards and woods, a lurking menace permeating everything; the authenticity of the relationships between the boys, compared to the mother's superficiality -- it was magnificent. I used to show it to my high school French classes. The students were riveted. It's a masterpiece of quiet suspense. Long after the seeing the film, I visited Provins, and was surprised to recognize the setting instantly. A beautiful place. A beautiful film.
This was my favorite movie as an American preteen. I thought the two boys were so hot! I was absolutely mesmerized by this film and became obsessed with France. Many years later and now I finally live here 🇫🇷!!!

I'm taking a European History class through Itunes U (Open Yale), and this is one of the movies I'm assigned to watch. I'm looking forward to it.
