Imagine how blown away I was when I found out what he was like in real life. The guy really knew how to take the piss out of himself, and that's what makes this show great. They all aren't afraid to go in hard on themselves.
Reading Patrick Stewart's Memoirs, he mentions filming this scene. Apparently Ricky Gervais couldn't stop laughing at all, and Stephen Merchant had to stand in for him for much of it. Especially the way Patrick pronounced "knickers" really cracked Ricky up. Patrick writes "the two hours I spent with those guys, though, were one of the most fun times I have ever experienced in show business"
Ricky must be a nightmare to work with, entirely because he can't stop laughing. And, as annoying as it would get, his laughter is just too damned infectious =]

Patrick Stewart is a legend among men, fantastically versatile and doesn't take himself too seriously, which is rare in actors. American Dad is further testament, hilarious.
I wasn't a huge fan of Extras, although I can see why it was so popular and why so many people enjoyed it, one thing I loved about the show was seeing actors who you wouldn't really associate with comedy, play charactertures of themselves, giving away it seems their weird habits, beliefs and mannerisms to great comic effect. It's great writing to see icons such as Ian mckellen, Kate Winslet, Patrick Stewart and many others play these roles.

It's just perfect, the way he's justified the actions of the women to make it more plausible and arousing for himself.
