There's a rumour going round that Seth MacFarlane is planning on a remake of The Naked Gun with the big man attached to the project. Leslie Nielsen might be too big an act to live up to. Teaming Liam up with Jamie Dornan might work. Knowing Seth he'd probably want to bring back OJ back just to mess with everyone.
Another thing too is that Leslie Nielsen had this way of comedy like with airplane and the naked gun movies that he was completely oblivious to the ridiculousness that was going on around him and his serious reaction to try to extrapolate meaning from the silly is what constituted the comedy

I'm expressing my appreciation for how well written the joke is, 'Liam is bad at improv and that's funny' is an idea that could have been done in several ways that didn't necessarily require Liam to leave Ricky with nothing to work with. I love the direction they went with it, hence my post. If you don't like my opinion that's fine, to each their own.
Comedy perfection! Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are, in my opinion, the greatest contribution to comedy for decades. Their style has been imitated by so many. They literally (in the word's correct context) created a new genre of comedy. Brilliant.
"I'm a funny guy, aren't I?" Delivered as if this concept was ridiculous. Yet in reality, he delivers one of the greatest comedic scenes that many of us will see in our lifetimes.

I agree, after watching this episode, i had very high hopes as Liam didn't struck me as the obvious funny guest, but he killed it and this is easily the best scene of the whole show, maybe only topped by this scene's outtakes, which are hilarious as well.
Back in 2011, the new Lyric Theatre in Belfast was opened. Liam Neeson and James Nesbit were invited to the opening, when young actors cut their teeth at the Lyric. It was thought that these two stars would turn up, say hello, make a little speech, photo opportunity and gone! But no, they stayed for five hours engaging and reminiscing with everyone.

If Liam Neeson really did/does do stand-up comedy like this, as a lone stand-up comedian, then I would want to watch it. He is hilarious.
