A great wee fly, I had a brilliant day on Lintrathen using the carrot nymph, fishing right on the bottom and tweaking it back, absolutely deadly. This dressing looks the business, must dress a few for my box, thanks Davie.

A lovely little nymph, as always beautifully tied.
I love these hooks, they to my eyes are at least a size bigger than the stated size.
This fly in purple or pink is a brilliant Grayling pattern.
I tied a few this afternoon, they almost took my mind of the Scotland international football and rugby union results!!
Thanks for another fantastic tutorial Davie.

I did a few of these except I just used regular pheasant tail for the body and tail and the Brown Trout in my area like it just fine. I really liked the effect of the deer hair worked in with the dubbing.

I watched this one a while ago and decided to view again, with the intention of making a few nymphs. I had almost all the materials - except the orange pheasant tail. However - I had a very old packet of Ostrich herl in various colours and the orange worked a treat and looks very similar to your version! I hope the fish don't mind too much anyway! Great video as usual Davie, thank you so much for sharing it.

      Hi Keith,
I've used ostrich on many nymphs and wets over the years and they have all worked really well so I'm sure it will work just as good..I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks again for the kind words...

I think it was the late great GEM Skues who wrote wrote a very funny piece about a fly tied by the Novice which looked like a carrot :)
    Great-looking nymph!

Thank you for your quality videos and instruction! You previously gave me a recommendation of 2 favorite and productive dry fly patterns, which I enjoyed learning and adding to my fly box. I would like to request your recommendation for 2 favorite and productive nymphs as I continue my "Davie McPhail Hall of Fame" fly box. Blessings to you and thanks once again!

Great buggy looking fly. The material list missed the deer hair. Does it matter much what type is used? THANKS for these videos Dave. I can't watch them enough.

    Great video as always
can i ask where to get the long pheasant tail material. i only have the natural ones and they always seem to be to short and very hard to rap (new to fly tying)

      Hi Sharky Wightman,
The pheasant tails I used came from Veniards who are a wholesale company that you my know and they supply many shops...Over the winter months I'll buy a few feathers off eBay as the keepers sell the centre tails and I've found them to be very good..I hope this is of help to you..
      All the very best Davie...

It's a most popular type of nymph(and color) on the far east river's of Russia, great Davie!!!

    • @MsKabel
      @MsKabel 7 лет назад

Similar colours are also very popular in the spring in Poland in the Lower Silesia region, but the wire needs to be violet.
