It definitely has a price premium over the Roborock version which is still $950 over at Target. Not sure if all the other stuff wins when you consider the current price difference. Definitely something to consider, especially as sales and such vary throughout the year, though I feel like Roborock might position the pricing more permanently in relation to the Dreame due to the increased competition and such, especially if videos and articles like this keep coming out.
Great review...can you add to your reviews: how is the edge cleaning and more detailed breakdown of it's mopping ability? Mopping is a huge feature, so it would be great if we had a mopping comparison
Just purchased this during their Black Friday sale for $1050. It's currently $1500 but has a $300 coupon. I will say that so far I'm extremely happy with the obstacle avoidance. It even recognizes cords on carpet, which can some times blend in and also shows the results of what it recognizes in the app after it's done cleaning and even provides a picture of the obstacle! It also gives you the option to submit feedback on if it recognized the obstacle wrong. I purchased the Eufy X9 Pro a few months ago because it had high praise for its obstacle avoidance but it didn't come anywhere near the Dreame L20 with its AI technology. It was constantly running over cables and beeping for me to go tend to it. The Dreame L20 definitely doesn't need a babysitter. Very happy so far.
Please add a note if the battery is easily replaceable and available from the manufacturer in your reviews. As robots get old, finding good replacement batteries can be quite difficult. Love your reviews!
We picked one up directly from Dreame for $945 during black Friday. It has been doing an amazing job. Never gets stuck or lost, cleans 1000 square feet of mostly hard flooring every two days. Obstacle avoidance has been perfect, avoiding cords, shoes, plants perfectly. Mostly we just leave it set to the AI clean genius setting and it's been great. Highly recommend if it's within your budget. Now we just need the water hookup. 🤞
@@CannabisTechLife dreame L10s ultra is about 400-500 bucks cheaper during sale season. It has similar function as L20 but without the water kit. I end up buying L10s ultra and just drill a hole into each of the water tank. Then add cheap 20 bucks aquarium pump to drain the waste water and fill the clean water tank once the water level sensor triggers. Now my L10s can auto drain and auto fill via the water pipelines. No need to pay 500 bucks more when you can replicate the function via 40 bucks of DIY material.
Holy moly. Watching the video i literally said out loud to myself "the only thing this thing needs to be the perfect robot vacuum is water line hookups" 🤯
After returning my Roomba Combo J9+ due to issues it had, I decided to take my chances with this robot vacuum. After a few weeks, I am honestly satisfied with it's performance and features. The Roomba Combo J9+ feels so lackluster when compared to this robot vacuum, especially with the Combo J9+ costing as much as it does. iRobot really needs to step up their game, competition is much tougher compared to years ago.
I have 4 levels in my house so have an X1 Omni in the basement, an S8 Pro Ultra on the bedroom level, and tried an X2 Omni for a week on the main living level. I ultimately returned it and replaced it with an L20 Ultra. The L20 Ultra is the best robot vacuum I have ever owned. The app needs some work, but very usable. Aside from that is is a beast! The droppable mopping pads is my favourite feature, but the battery is a close second. It has power for days! Comfortably does 3500 ground floor with mixed hard wood and rugs with ease. It feels a lot like the X1 Omni, but better in most areas. Comfortably #1! My issues are limited to the app. Unlike other vacuums it is impossible to change the suction power, or anything related to the active task, once started. A minor inconvenience, but it is a feature we use regularly.
I had the s8 pro ultra for 3 months. got the l20 two weeks ago and it smashes it tbh, not sure about reliability yet but it's overall a substantially better robot. and the s8 mop scratched my floors @@Sun.n.Flowers
Would love to see a robot vacuum review that only does carpet. I have hardwood only downstairs and carpet only upstairs in the bedrooms and halls. Mainly one that does really good carpet cleaning with pets and has good detection. The video is great!
I got this directly from Dreame's Website for 950 dollars NO TAX asked for at all. WOW! I got the product on time before it had shipping delays and was able to give it to my mom for christmas. I am very very impressed by this robot vacuum as it doesn't struggle and doesn't get stuck and does a fantastic job vacuuming and mopping everything. It does get lost in my home from time to time but not for a long time picks up fairly quickly. I want to say one thing tho there is nowhere that I found that advertises the downward pressure the mops give. For those of you that want to know I asked Dreame's support team and they said the Mop Pressure is 7N for Hardfloors and 12N for Tile and everything else.
Interesting that they say 7N for hardfloors and 12N for tile. Cause tile is considered a hardfloor. BTW, I bought it brand new for $650 during the one day sale on July 4th. At that price is a steal. However the Dreame X40 destroys it with 12,000Pa suction and awesome new features, but I can only find it at $1200 from its list $1900, and I did not think it was worth almost double the $650 price of the L20 Ultra.
Here it is! I've loved this thing since I pre-purchased it (a rare gamble). I think this review nails it; per usual. I would be interested to hear if you had a recommended settings list for this robot since there are so many. I find myself changing how I want it to clean often, because I'm a bit of a loose nut, but if there were settings that worked best for you (e.g., do you use AI-Driven MopExtend in it's balanced mode / frequent mode / recommended mode)? Thanks for continuing to push out incredible reviews on products that matter to consumers.
I appreciate if you could make a video comparing dreame l20 (or dreame x30) VS roborock s8 ultra. I'm looking forward to replace mine neato but I'm concerned about quality build. There is a talking about these chinese robots being very bad in regards to resilience.
I currently own both the Omni X2 and the L20 Ultra. L20 is far and away a better overall experience. I've owned 3 top end Ecovacs and none were close to being as good as the L20. Assuming it holds up over time, the L20 is the vac to have in 2023/24.
This vacuum is really good. So far everything is working great. The avoidance system is very accurate. Rarely does it bump into things. I do semi prep the house for cleaning to make its job easier.
I set up my new L20 ultra today, and it did a great job on my hardwood flooring, but I ran into issues with carpeting/mats. First, it got tangled and confused on a cowhide area rug, so I made that a no-go zone. Then, it mistook the pattern on my entry mats for cords, so I had to turn off the AI avoidance. Finally, the anti-fatigue mat by my sink set off the bump bar because it's too tall, so I have to remove it while cleaning. I'll have to get new mats that are lower and don't have a border pattern if I plan to take full advantage of all the great features. Overall, it's an amazing machine. I just need to make my house more robot friendly 😊.
Came back to the channel after a bit of a break because I saw the news about Amazon's acquisition of iRobot falling through. I was really hoping Amazon's influence might help iRobot bring the prices of it's upper range models down a touch, but I guess the chances of that happening were slim to none in the first place. I know lower end robot vacs are really quite affordable these days, but I'm looking for a little more functionality to make it worth it to me. Something like this Dreame L20 Ultra would be nice, but, but at this price I'd still rather just do a less frequent but more thorough manual clean.

@@frankcompston5065 Thanks for giving a year update. I'm interested in this and worry about stuff like this breaking down. I will buy one because of your update
We’ve had the l20 for 9 months. It has gotten progressively worse at cleaning. It misses spots, doesn’t leave the mopping pads anymore. Doesn’t mop as Well as before. Factory reset doesn’t change anything. Their service departement is almost as bad as roborocks which is mindblowing bad ( roborock responds to your first mail and then doesn’t answer if there reset answer doesn’t help).
Thanks for the review but I’m confused how this is the best but it can’t pick up dirt in the deep crevasse test? Or sand test? Is it because of the new features and hardware?
Excellent review as always I have my eye on the L20 since it was released and I'm convinced that it's worth the big price tag. I am a sucker for meaningful innovative features! :) But I have been unable so far to find a reputable seller that would ship my way! In my eyes, availability is the biggest cons of this amazing device
@@NadeemAhmed-nv2br on previews it looks awesome. But not available yet. I ended up ordering a Switchbot S10. Looking forwards giving it a try, on paper is superior to most robo vacuum cleaners, at a lower price
For any future readers. I will concur to this video. I bought the Dreame L20 Ultra about 1½ months ago, and i am so happy with it! Yes, i can see some of the new robots will have better corner/wall coverage, and i am a bit envious of that, but the L20 Ultra is reeeeaally good, so i can only recommend it! I bought it with about a discount.
When you say "some of the new robots will have better corner/wall coverage", which models are you talking about? LTB and VERY interested in this answer.
Very happy with this review..got a irobot j7+ and had to return with less than a month..started to find some random plastic pieces and one day the whole vacuum fell apart..now I’m trying to find a replacement and this seems to be a good one
Still waiting for animal fur on carpet test to be included. You really need to start updating some of your tests, I mean if 99.9% of robot vacuums excel at a test, why would you do it in the first place?
I’m waiting too. I have two of these and I’ve run into trouble. Not enough to return them but enough to get frustrated with such as mapping and navigation. Also, battery life is not so good.
Funny that most of same features are included in Roborock Q Revo .. Minus the extending mop arm, the front camera and the cleaning solution dispenser, witch all seem pretty pricy if you consider the price difference between these two. 🤔
Seems to be great for a family with a medium/large house for daily cleaning. I would not really expect deep cleaning from a robot vacuum, just some help to keep the house together and reduce the occurrence of the deep cleanings.
We managed to caputre the upgraded version of this unit, the L30 Ultra. We currently have it in our lab and are dissecting to find out the Robot Vaccums weakness.
Thanks, I was really wondering what the methodology and reasoning was around your results. The competing roborock model is massively cheaper right now at $950 so it was really confusing as to why Dreame would win. My understanding also is that Dreame doesn't have much of a reputation yet around their products, especially when it comes to durability since they are so new, so it was doubly confusing as Roborock's seems really solid. What do you think about publishing a spreadsheet or something with each test, model, and resulting scores, and prices, or something so we can easily see and compare all the work you've done and each product reviewed? I think it would be really useful for consumers if you did.
The L20 Ultra was $950-$1050 for the last few weeks for BF too. Btw, its interesting, but Dreame is part of Xiaomi's eco-system of devices, and so was Roborock at one point of time!
I use your channel religiously for robovacuum purchases. I need a vacuum/mop combo head-to-head! What would be your first choice, forking out all that $$?
Hi there, thank you again for your videos. I've relied on your reviews for many years and appreciate your candid in depth reviews. Not sure if you or others have recommendations but I currently have the iRobot i6+ and Braava. Looking to upgrade to either the ECOVACS DEEBOT T20 or Dreame L20 Ultra. Both have different options and price points. I do like the the option of the Dreame L20 Ultra being able to remove it's mop heads to allow vacuuming carpets without getting them wet. Does the Dreame L20 have auto lifting such as the T20 with its 9mm lift? I'm concerned that the T20 minimum 9mm lift may get our carpets wet while vacuuming. We don't have shag carpet just standard texture carpet.
Will you be reviewing the Deebot Omni X2? So many bad reviews online from customers. I'm holding back from buying until I see your review sir. Thank you 😊
I have two of them. It is buggy. I would think those things could be fixed with a firmware update but I’m assuming that is 5-6 months down the line. If you can get past the navigation mess and get a good map it actually cleans pretty well.
I was surprised that this thing seemingly hit some of the fake poop, as did all of the Roborock vacuums in your 3-way comparison. I sort of worry about all these vacs where the vacuum portion is narrower than the mop portion. One of the main things my robot vac needs to clean are little scattered granules of kitty litter. If the vacuum misses it but the mop finds it, I'm worried it will drag the hard little granule around and scratch up my floors. I guess the best option is to have it sequentially vacuum first, then mop.
Please add a doorway threshold test to your evaluation parameters: I have several 2 cm doorway thresholds in my apartment and my Roborock S8 often gets stuck on them which is very annoying. It would be good to know how well robot vacuum cleaners are able to pass these thresholds before buying them.
Thanks for the great review. I am planning to buy it but have one question. I have 4 cats and want to make sure that i can run it without cleaning solution. I dont want my cats to be poisoned by chemicals, so planning to run it without solution. Btw is the cleaning solution sealed ? I mean can i fill it with a pet friendly chemical ?
Nice review. Very insightful. One question: Can you specify parts of the map where the vacuum should not go? We have a two inch pole carpet, I want it to stay off.
I have serious concerns over their customer service and support. They are incredibly non responsive so I would wait and see until they get that part together Both dreame and roborock are owned by xiaomi which is interesting
xiaomi pretty much bought up every single robot vacuum brand in china except shark and a few minor players. Which is why ecovac, roborock, dreametech all have very similar base features, with some minor difference sprinkle on top.
I saw that dreame app in the video and said "that looks almost identical to the roborock app. They probably use the same vendor or something". Well that explains it!
@@ThatsPety for the app it self, I believe it's base off the open source vacuum OS developed by xiaomi, called "lovelace-vacuum-map-card". You can actually download the OS in your local cpu and host the mapping server locally. Then side load the robot vacuum to run on a local server instead of remote server. A lot of opensource RosBot project use that to handle mapping and navigation (and just disable the vacuum part)
Well that explains it, the Dreame's design looks awfully like a souped up Roborock Q Revo, to the point I was wondering which company had conducted industrial espionage on the other.
You should also tell us about map glitching like my Deebot forgets map every week or couple of day later having to redo the map which keep me from not using it. I think roborock is best at that from all the reviews I see how is dreame?
@VacuumWars Will it run without the proprietary cleaning fluid? I understand you can only use their own brand one, but if it is empty will it still mop with clean water or will it throw an error and stop working ?
Loving it so far. Really looking forward to the release of the water hookup kit to add direct plumbing. Also want someone to make a 3D printer reusable bit.
will it remap the whole house if I move some furniture? I do it often (some VR stuff and cat toy), my ecovacs would remap the whole house every 3 days and need 2 charges to do it :(
Wow, would be interesting to see why and how it beat the Q Revo. I've heard quite a few not so good things about the Dreame L20 in comparison to the Q Revo.
All im asking is when are the next wave of stick mops are announced? I'm looking for tineco s8 pro or its competitor. I like the idea of manual cleaning, human brain is better than robot ..
Amazing videos.. We are first time robovacumm potential buyers.. We have hard flooring throughout our house with matts at various places... We are torn between the Roomba Combo® j9+ Robot Vacuum and Mop OR Dreame L20 Ultra OR Roborock S8 Pro Ultra Vacuum Cleaner Robot... All reviews seem similar.. We are also considering going for the seperate hoover and mop to get max performance: Roomba® j9 & Braava jet® m6 Bundle We cant decide and really welcome your input
It’s not good for pet hairs. It doesn’t do automatic cleaning as the pet hairs get stuck. I replaced the system twice to understand it’s a drawback. The company was telling me that it’s a hardware issue! I don’t think I get two products with same hardware issues!
Same issue for me. Basically a waste of money. The auto emptying can't even get the dog hair out when its less than 20% full. Very dissappointed with the robot and also kind of dissappointed that @vacuumwars didn't take this into account.
I'm totally new to robot vacuums. When I see the testing on their floor it's nice but it's like a living room and dining room. Do robot vacuums also go into bedrooms? Or will I have to buy separate robots for each bedroom?
@@VacuumWars Nice. I'm looking now at that Dreame L20 as they have a promotion going on for $400 off. Thank you for answering and I love the channel and what y'all are doing. Keep it up!
What did you compare it to, I'm most interested in this and the Deebot X2 Omni, how do they compare and was the Deebot X2 Omni one of the comparables in this testing?
@VacuumWars I was asking for ideal best option so out of all you've tried. Anyway the new dreame x30 and g30 looks like the best option. It's a 2 in 1 but performance is excellent in vacuuming and mopping.
How many of the features will work without the use of Wi-Fi?? Can you at least pare the Dreame L20 to the app using data so one could have use of at least the basic settings on the robot? I understand that one wouldn’t have use of the mapping and some of the more advanced settings.
Curious if your test suite includes a stairs fall test as in the other reviews of the Dreame L20 Ultra from other sites, they say that the L20 Ultra falls off the stairs and breaks.

Thanks for sharing!
When you say "some of the new robots will have better corner/wall coverage", which models are you talking about? LTB and VERY interested in this answer.
@@Aramil4 the Dreame X40 Ultra has an arm extender. I'm sure some of the other robots have one aswell.

Because of the channel, I'm always on the market to debate if I should replace my 5 year old robot vacuum or not.
Very happy with this review..got a irobot j7+ and had to return with less than a month..started to find some random plastic pieces and one day the whole vacuum fell apart..now I’m trying to find a replacement and this seems to be a good one
Whoa! sorry to hear that about the j. We hope our channel helps you pick out a robot vacuum that you really enjoy.
Thank you for the great review! What about local control? Does this model require the cloud, or can it be run entirely locally?
Still waiting for animal fur on carpet test to be included. You really need to start updating some of your tests, I mean if 99.9% of robot vacuums excel at a test, why would you do it in the first place?
I consider myself now a vacuum robot enthusiast. This is how far I've fallen from grace
I actually enjoy watching my Xiaomi X10 doing it's thing
When are we getting the x2 omni review? Any updates please? Thank you for your work!
I’m waiting too. I have two of these and I’ve run into trouble. Not enough to return them but enough to get frustrated with such as mapping and navigation. Also, battery life is not so good.
Please make a video of the best ones without a mop! This feature (mop) makes the vacuum a lot more expensive but for many it's unnecessary.
There is a new one coming out, L10s Ultra Pro. Please do a review on it, it has camera and extension mop pad as well.
Can't wait for the review for the new Dreame x30 pro with a UV light in the base and new brush that cuts tangled hair with other improvements
won’t be out in the us for at least another 6-8 months

@@kr3wski31 per their website, release date is 28 Feb
Dreame is cheaper because it is build with lower quality part compare to roborock

I use your channel religiously for robovacuum purchases. I need a vacuum/mop combo head-to-head! What would be your first choice, forking out all that $$?
This looks stunning! My question is that I have a thick carpet (35mm thick). Would this be able to get up to vacuum it?
When you do reviews of vacuums with mops, would you touch on how the clean water is dispensed? Such as a sprayer or if it just leaks through a pad?

@@houseofwarmth2578 ya, that's not going to cut it. Price tag for a half done product is a bad deal for me.
Deebot tends to have issues with rotating it's maps and needing constant resets. Best to avoid that brand.
I’ll stick with the tried and true roborocks. I have two and they’re amazing.
This robot is ASS. Roborock is by far the best on the market at all price ranges.
Why? I have the S8 Pro Ultra, but curious to see why you think it outperforms this bot?
@@investmentanalyst779
@@investmentanalyst779 Can you elaborate?
@VacuumWars thank you for this great video! The base is large, but what height is needed to take out the water bins?
Now there is already a L30 model 💙 can we expect to get a review of this model? Thanks 🙏🏻
We are trying to keep up! they have already announced an even newer one, the X30!

We stay with the solutions recommended by the manufacturers. Maybe someone in the comments here has some insights to share.
As Always great review I have one question is it worth $1500
When will you review Ecovacs X2 Omni?? Love your vids
Dreame L20 vs Dreame X30.
Is Dreame X30 Worth the extra money?
Will love a review for that!
Why dont you review BEKO’s robot vacuum?
Nice review. Very insightful. One question: Can you specify parts of the map where the vacuum should not go? We have a two inch pole carpet, I want it to stay off.
Yes, you can set "no go" zones in the app on the map, or set it to avoid carpet entirely in the cleaning settings.
Have you made a video about witch cleaning solutions works best with robot vacuums?
are you going to do a review on the deboot x2 omni?
?
I have serious concerns over their customer service and support. They are incredibly non responsive so I would wait and see until they get that part together
Both dreame and roborock are owned by xiaomi which is interesting
xiaomi pretty much bought up every single robot vacuum brand in china except shark and a few minor players.
They too expensive for chinese/xiaomi products imo
You should also tell us about map glitching like my Deebot forgets map every week or couple of day later having to redo the map which keep me from not using it. I think roborock is best at that from all the reviews I see how is dreame?
How abrasive are the mop pads? Do you think they would be safe for engineered wood floors?
@VacuumWars Will it run without the proprietary cleaning fluid? I understand you can only use their own brand one, but if it is empty will it still mop with clean water or will it throw an error and stop working ?
Loving it so far. Really looking forward to the release of the water hookup kit to add direct plumbing. Also want someone to make a 3D printer reusable bit.
I don’t have a robotic vacuum (yet), but I do a lot of designs for 3D printing. Tell me more about the “bit” you want to print.
Can you use the Dreame L20 Ultra without the internet or app?
What's the best robot vacuum for Cat owners? Please do a video on this subject.
Can you make a test video about Lydsto W2?
will it remap the whole house if I move some furniture? I do it often (some VR stuff and cat toy), my ecovacs would remap the whole house every 3 days and need 2 charges to do it :(
Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome!
Do you compare tool brands vacuums, kobalt ryobi, hart, just to see how they compare with the main competition in vacs?
How does it compare to the roomba s9 for carpet cleaning. The d shape design on the s9 would do a better job at carpet edge cleaning.
Are the bags reusable? And is there an adapter for the solution/detergent so you can use your own?
I would assume you can just tap a hole in the top and fill it with whatever cleaner you choose.
Cant decide between this and narwal freo for mopping , streaks tough stains?
Wow, would be interesting to see why and how it beat the Q Revo. I've heard quite a few not so good things about the Dreame L20 in comparison to the Q Revo.

Where did they come from? Are they a new company getting into robot vacuums?

At what temperature are the mops cleaned and can they be washed in the washing machine?
It’s not good for pet hairs. It doesn’t do automatic cleaning as the pet hairs get stuck. I replaced the system twice to understand it’s a drawback. The company was telling me that it’s a hardware issue! I don’t think I get two products with same hardware issues!
Same issue for me. Basically a waste of money. The auto emptying can't even get the dog hair out when its less than 20% full. Very dissappointed with the robot and also kind of dissappointed that @vacuumwars didn't take this into account.
Thx saved me the trouble and money!
