@@mil3761 i am doing a side by side right now and Vacuum wars did a great reveiw on the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. The Dreame X40 mopping is WAY better simply because it can remove its mop pads and the mop pads can extend outwards. and the HOT WATER WASHING is much hotter on the Dreame and it dries faster. The S8 MaxV initial mopping is good but after that, it doesnt do a great job cleaning those pads (much thinner, no cushion in the pads) for the 2nd or 3rd mopping run. For 1000 sq foot hardfloors, the unit should clean those brushed 2-3 times AUTOMATICALLY at your assigned intervals and since the Dreame X40 cleans the pads better, you have better mopping especially after the initial 200 sq ft of cleaning relative to the Roborock S8.
I thought they only added one thing and asked an insane price for it, that's why I'm grateful you do a decent comparison on all these robo-vacuums that show the true difference. Thanks! Looking forward to the Ecovacs video.
For your future robot vacuum reviews would you be able to do some tests on the bin auto empty features with pet hair and configuration options? I got the Roborock S7 Max last year which works pretty well but the auto empty on it is pretty annoying when you have heavily shedding dogs, the only time the bin empties is when it finishes a job so you have to schedule each individual room at a different time to trick it into emptying after every room, also since the roborock empties itself through the same port that the brush roller is in there are some issues if the hair gets compacted in the bin which leads to it not fully emptying. Overall the machine and your review of it are great but I'm on the lookout for an upgrade with a bigger dustbin and more reliable empty method along with a fill/drain line option or notifications when they're running low. Thanks!
I was holding out for this review but ended up pulling the trigger with Dreame’s early bird special. I’ve been super happy with it so far, and even more now that I was able to get it for the early bird price with the tricut brush and accessory kit. Thank you for the amazing reviews as always!!
Looks good, I love competition between all the companies, it allows them to innovate further to always be ahead of the game, looking forward to the ECOVACs review!!
You mention that longs hairs got tangled on the brush and said it's typical. However no such issue was mentioned with the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra. It's a very important parameter for me. Does this mean it was not an issue with the S8? Or did you just not mention it?
I had the s8 and returned it. We have myself and 3 daughters in our house plus dogs with lots of fur (doodle and old English). It did not clean well, didn't pick up hole punched sized papers, and the hair didn't get tangled on the brush per say but on the ends. I would have to remove the rotating brushes and the ends to try and cut the hair off. I wasn't pleased for the price.
whats the deal with changing the bag? does this thing require constant buying of disposable bags and where can you get them from? the website shows a whole kit but not bags on their own.
The shape and radar installation method of Eufy determine that its navigation and obstacle avoidance performance won't be very good, similar to Ecovacs X2
I've had the X40 Ultra for 2 days and I am loving it! I am blown away by its ability to navigate tight spaces like my table + chairs while simultaneously achieving near 100% coverage with vacuum and mop, the extending arms really are game changers. Maybe its a dumb thing to say in a market where you get a new release basically every week but for me at least this is end game - This robovac produces close to perfect cleaning results while needing basically no maintenance.
I have the X30 and love the unit itself but them coming out with new units so quickly and not having parts for the last one is very worrisome, even the cleaning solutions have been hard to get.
@@RUclipsHero666i just got my S1 Pro yesterday and it’s been absolutely incredible on my hard floors. On carpet it’s only slightly above average, but for hard floors nothing will do better than the S1. It’s seriously amazing for hard floors. It replaced my Q Revo which previously did a daily, double pass mopping run (with detergent) in my kitchen. My floors never quite felt clean after it mopped though and lately they even started to look visibly dirtier than usual. I always thought it was doing a decent job at mopping, but just to test it I set it on one last mopping run before I got the S1 Pro. After it finished I had the S1 Pro mop the same area. I’m not even joking when I say my floors felt 10x cleaner, and they were visibly cleaner too. I then emptied the dirty water tank from the S1 to see how dirty the water was… it was literally almost black. That alone tells me how well it mops compared to every other bot with spinning or vibrating mop pads. They just don’t even compare to having an actual roller mop that’s continuously cleaned with clean water while dirty water and debris is squeegeed out into its onboard dirty water tank. Aside from that the obstacle avoidance is also incredibly good. It avoided cables, socks, etc. with no problems. Eufy really knocked it out of the park with the S1.
Hi, I think you should mention the ability to plum the robots to water and waste (great feature when it is available) Also, please talk a bit more about maintaining the base, how effective the auto cleaning and how easy it is to clean manually.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t hear any mention of the side brush not running while on carpet. Is that a setting or has it been fixed? I can’t imagine having a robot vacuum, much less one at $1900, that can’t clean the edges or corners on carpet floors.
Unfortunately, it is. This is a big disadvantage for Dreame. I have carpet everywhere in my house. Why would I need a robot that doesn't use a side brush on carpets? A crazy act from Dreame.
I don’t have carpet but I don’t see any point for the side brush use on the carpet. The side brush purpose to sweep and pull the things into the vacuum. It works best on the hard wood as it sweeps things into vacuum.
@@vishkumar the brush works great on carpet and sweeps away debris, which is not possible in the X40. how will the X40 clean up the garbage around the perimeter of the walls where there are thin carpets everywhere in the rooms?
Can I have a suggestion, include how noisy the robot vacuums in your test, people like me cares. I work at home and some of them are so loud I have to send them away from my meeting.
Do you do tests with large debris? I bought the Dreame x40 Ultra and it doesn't pick up our dog kibble, but my Roomba i3 did. I wish I had known that the Dreame x40 Ultra couldn't handle kibble.
The shape and radar installation method of Eufy S1 Pro determine that its navigation and obstacle avoidance performance won't be very good, similar to Ecovacs X2
Thank you very much for this comprehensive review! I was eyeing out this one but thought it almost too good to be true, even if expensive. Thanks to this video, and a special offer that includes a big extras kit with no extra charge, I think we have a winner.
Would love for you to review the Tapo RV30 Plus. Whilst the mopping leaves a lot to be desired the vacuum with 4L of auto empty seems like a really great budget option for a vacuum robot.
THIS X40 DOES NOT CLEAN EDGES BETWEEN CARPET AN WALLS. In other words, the side brush will not come out or even spin at those edges I just don't understand why you left this out. This Robot was designed for the Chinese market where most homes have hardwood floors. It is useless if your house is fully carpeted.
Why are so few reviewers calling out the X40 for the fact that it doesn’t activate the side brush at all on carpet let alone swing it out to get into corners and up to room edges? Because no one with wall to wall carpets would ever want the corners or edges of their carpets cleaned? I really want to buy the X40 but unless Dreame fix that I’m probably going to go with the Roborock s8 MaxV Ultra.
@@tyr0n313 It's bugging me more and more with every review I see that says the X40 in the lead for best flagship cleaner money can buy. That makes me ever more frustrated that the X40 is increasingly becoming the one I want to buy if it wasn't for this side-brush issue. I suppose the s8 MaxV Ultra isn't that far behind but I wish I didn't feel locked out of what I perceive as the even better choice because of this side brush issue.
Unfortunately, it is. This is a big disadvantage for Dreame. I have carpet everywhere in my house. Why would I need a robot that doesn't use a side brush on carpets? A crazy act from Dreame.
@@msamarskij980 I’m also not that optimistic that Dreame will fix it. I found a thread on Reddit about this issue and one commenter said he was one of the testers on the beta test before release and loads of testers complained to Dreame about the side brush not being used on carpets but Dreame obviously never listened to that feedback. I really think that every single reviewer should call Dreame out on this one so that just maybe they might finally fix it in a firmware update.
The Dreame X40 Ultra doesn't swing its side brush on carpets to prevent dirt scattering, avoid tangling, and improve battery efficiency. The side brush on carpet scatters dirt to places it already passed. You will see soon all the flagships will also implement it.
Hi Great reviews, want to ask a question regarding this amazing robot, in (vacuum & mop) when detect liquid on floor will the robot (vacuum & mop) or stop vacuum just mop?
Can you test robo vacuums for things like door still hight, carpet fringe and effect of mirrors and magnets and hight power device on their navigation. The ones I had all loss thier mind when getting near mirrors or magnets or get stuck when passing door still from one room to another.
I had never heard of Dreame before you crowned the L20 Ultra the best vacuum of 2023 - so I bought one back in December and it's been amazing. Now I want an X40 Ultra! 😁😭
For the moping function how about trying chalk, washable makers and water colored paint? Make one line of each and see how much is removed from each line. Chalk being the easiest to clean followed by the maker and lastly the paint.
Great review. Thank you. If this connected directly to plumbing, I would be mostly sold. I already have ecovacs deebots and had great luck with mine so I chose to get the t30. A lot cheaper too.
What a fantastic review. I liked your honest approach to this, and it made me consider the 'lower' priced models (they are still very expensive) and what we get for the current price tag.
So between the "Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra" and the "dreame X40 ultra", the dreame is the better choice? How are the app options for dreame? i've heard/seen that roborock has a TONNN of different options in there app
Considering the similarity in price, I would go with the x40. They did improve the object avoidance with this model, and Roborock went with the unfortunate decision to go with the vibrating mop instead of the superior dual rotating mop design (although in the end, what matters is how much pressure is exerted on the mop head). I would wait on a review of the Eufy S1 Pro, it will cost significantly less and will feature some really interesting and new technologies that will surely get copied by other manufacturers next generation. And Eufy's object avoidance is industry leading.
Can X40 execute the schedule while off-line ? I understand that setting the schedule absolutely requires internet connection. But schedule execution is different and depends on where all timers and calendars are hosted: in the device or in the cloud ? Thus the question: can I set the vacuum up and then disconnect it from internet?
Sorry for the late question - will the X40 monitor the dustbin level, and empty it when full mid-clean? Then carry on with the clean until the cycle is finished?
Some said the docking station needs 1,5 meter floorspace. Can anybody confirm if that is really so? What is the height of the robot. That is some of the first things people want to know because they wonder if it can get under the sofa, bed etc., but that is seldom mentioned in reviews nor in the advertising.
@ I guess you can (and should). The downside is, that you use it for cleaning the mop, also. You will use more I guess. My Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra has this extra tank, and I only filled it once in the summer yet. Our wood floor cleaning soap is quite expensive. So I will still count that as a minus for the Dreame.
Where you on firmware 1392 when you did this testing? 1392 seems to have navigating issues among other issues many of us are trying to bring attention to Dreame about. Many have been about to get support to rollback firmware, and many of us are unable to.
@vacuumwars Can you please confirm why the x40 performed so poorly on your mopping score of 3.7. It certainly didn't seem to line up your comments in the video let alone other with other experiences. It seems to have the exact same moppong set up as the l40 which you rated 4.7 (among the absolute best and above s1 pro which people widely regard as the best). 3.7 is below even mid range performers which is below average to my understanding Additionally you've got l40 rated at 4.6 vs the x40 at just 3.5 despite getting the exact same score of 22 in obstacle avoidance and not appearing to have issues with it's path efficiency. And finally you've got 4.3 vs just a measly 2.6 on battery life for the exact same battery Reallly confused. Could there be some discrepancies and does it warrant adjusting the x40 scores accordingly? it's still the top model available in aus and the l40 and l20 aren't available here Hoping to find out if I'm missing something as I'm tossing up whether to buy the X40 which I am getting for $1575 AUD
Is the cleaning solutions used for the onboard tank to clean thr floor. Many claim it is only used to clean the pads and uses water only on the floors.
Does anyone know what laser rays does the X40 Ultra use? Because it seems most of them use LIDAR and they can cause damage to pets eyes especially because they lie on the floor so it is easy for those rays to reach their eye level.
I was very sceptical about purchasing the product at its price point however heard fantastic reviews from friends who had purchased it. A month on from owning it, I'm very happy. It replaced my RoboRock S7. Definite Game Changer
Is it possible to have different maps for different floors? How does it work with different floors in general? I have a 3 floor house and obv I don’t wanna buy three vacuum cleaners
I got the old Z10 Pro, carpet boost is still beta and it hasn’t received updates in ages. This is what makes me question the brand, and now you mention this on top of my experience 😅
I´m not seeing big upgrades compared to the S7 Max V generation of robots anymore. Guess I´ll wait with my next upgrade until those things can climb stairs :)
are you guys reviewing the dyson g1 wash? i just bought a tineco s5 steam... due to the steam coming off the floor and keeping it clean and dry afterwards however this g1 looks like it drys the floors right after... i think i have 30 days to retunr per amazon but id love to see you guys thoughts
It was no.1, and now it's no.13. I can't see any reason why in less than four months. What's the big difference between X40 and L40 Ultra? There are 10 places between them!
Have you tested the auto emptying function with pet hair? I have LS10 pro which doesn't do well with pet hair. It actually stays in the vaccum when it self emptying. I was thinking of upgrading if that function was now improved
We have just added Pet Rating scores, which addresses pet hair, to our Best Robot Vacuums list right here: vacuumwars.com/best-vacuum-cleaners/robot-vacuums/ Our video about this should be coming soon. Thank you for asking about it.
I would truly love a vacuum like this with my 2 kids and 4 dogs and 4 cats but I just can't afford that much for a robot vacumm, maybe someday the price for such a vacuum will be at an acceptable cost for me. Any way I just wanted to say that I think your videos are awesome I love how honest and educational you and your teams videos are.
I own a L20 Ultra and I'm mostly satisfied with it. But in over 7-8 months since I have it, not been a single firmware upgrade to fix the bugs (and there are quite a few). It seems Dreame is focused on launching new products on speed mode without taking care also on the existing owners and fixing the bugs or bringing some improvements. Before to L20 Ultra I had iRobot i7+, better performance and features are clear over i7+ but from iRobot I had periodic firmware upgrades with improvements and bug fixies.
Can you plumb the dock into your home water supply for filling water and draining waste? Every time I clean our floor we have to empty the tanks and I really want a robot that does this is there something available,?

Yo, owner of a L10 Pro Ultra here. Please address the frontwheel issue on the dreame products. My frontwheel casing broke after only two months (different floor heights). Try replacing the front wheel and you‘ll discover the absolute terrible construction design of the dreame bots. You have to complete tear it apart, even the mainboard and front camera, to just replace the freeking frontwheel. I‘d appreciate if those aspects would also be taken into account when rating the product. Reparability would definitely be a zero for the dreame products from me. And even though I really love the vacuum overall, the lack of reparability put me completely off in buying anything ever again from that brand…

DON'T BUY it if you will use outside China. It's for their domestic market. I bought when I was in China and worked perfectly. Now in my country app is blocked and work only by pressing power button. Looks good, I love competition between all the companies, it allows them to innovate further to always be ahead of the game, looking forward to the ECOVACs review!!
Be awared that the detergent is only used for cleanin the mop pads and not added to the water tank. The ads are very discrete on this matter.
Can the waterpump handle some detergents? In that case just drop a few ml directly in the watertank?
Is there any robot where the detergent is added to the mop pads?
@@TrueDesire존did you find the answer to this?
@@GITSSAC I ended up getting the Roborock Slim :)
Have you tested the eufy S1?
Excited to see what you think about the new mopping system on the Eufy S1 pro.
The shape and radar installation method of Eufy determine that its navigation and obstacle avoidance performance won't be very good, similar to Ecovacs X2
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you!
Have you been able to find a place to get legit parts? I'm concerned about buying it because I can't find dreamee sold parts for this.
You really need to do an Eufy S1 Pro review and then hopefully after that a S1 Pro versus X40 comparison. You guys do great work on this channel!
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you!
I have the X30 and love the unit itself but them coming out with new units so quickly and not having parts for the last one is very worrisome, even the cleaning solutions have been hard to get.
Just use standard floor cleaner
There should be a mopping test for tiles with grout!
Agreed. Grout lines are a tough thing to clean
are you currently testing Eufy's S1 Pro? it's the latest flagship by Eufy
not keen on its looks also it does not seem a match for even the L20
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you for asking!
Please do a Eufy S1 review!
Hi,
I think you should mention the ability to plum the robots to water and waste (great feature when it is available)
Also, please talk a bit more about maintaining the base, how effective the auto cleaning and how easy it is to clean manually.
Curious if you have an upcoming review for the Eufy S1 Pro?
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you for asking!
Nice review! Did you try the tri brush regarding pet hair? And are you going to review the Eufy S1 Pro?
The shape and radar installation method of Eufy S1 Pro determine that its navigation and obstacle avoidance performance won't be very good, similar to Ecovacs X2
@@Willandwish All the reviews would disagree with you. It has Best in Class object avoidance
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you!
Are you planning on reviewing the switchbot S10 soon as well? The separate water doc seems like an interesting idea.
Current issue in our house is rice on the tiles after kids have made their mess at dinner.. would love to see if they can tackle that
Just bought this. In the instructions it says to only use Dreame provided detergent, but in the test you mention that any detergent can be used?
I’ve been told that it’s possible to use detergents which don’t have a foam such as Ajax parquet
I appreciate the humility! Keep up the great work!
THIS X40 DOES NOT CLEAN EDGES BETWEEN CARPET AN WALLS. In other words, the side brush will not come out or even spin at those edges
I just don't understand why you left this out.
I’m with you. I asked the same question.
Does the sweeper brush spin on carpet? Seems odd that it claims so good for corners and then nothing for carpet corners?
I had never heard of Dreame before you crowned the L20 Ultra the best vacuum of 2023 - so I bought one back in December and it's been amazing. Now I want an X40 Ultra! 😁😭
Same!!!😂
Hahaha same, the l20 has been amazing.
X40 is nice, but still no major improvements worth upgrading for.
@@FantasticKruHL20 buy Now good idea?
Would you consider a bagged vacuum video? I'm so tired of bagless.
So the ranking is just based on specs? Best spec does not mean the best vacuum. How much suction power is really necessary? 12000, 15000, 500000?
That is some of the first things people want to know because they wonder if it can get under the sofa, bed etc., but that is seldom mentioned in reviews nor in the advertising.
negative you missed: It does not carry cleaning solution when mopping. it just uses the cleaning for cleaning the mop in the station.
Can't you just add cleaning solution to the clean water tank?
@ I guess you can (and should).
The downside is, that you use it for cleaning the mop, also. You will use more I guess.
My Roborock S8 Maxv Ultra has this extra tank, and I only filled it once in the summer yet.
Our wood floor cleaning soap is quite expensive. So I will still count that as a minus for the Dreame.
A review of the Dreame R20 would be greatly appreciated.
Why doesn't the side brush work on carpet
Hello, when is the Ecovacs T30s review out? Been waiting to decide what to buy. Thanks in advance!
Tomorrow! Thank you for asking!
Thank you!
@@VacuumWarswow that will make my day! Thanks
Another great review - I'd love to see a comparison or any review of the Yeedi (newcomer?)
Where you on firmware 1392 when you did this testing? 1392 seems to have navigating issues among other issues many of us are trying to bring attention to Dreame about. Many have been about to get support to rollback firmware, and many of us are unable to.
I am still sad, almost all manufacturers do not offer a bagless option no more for the top models or do I miss something?
@vacuumwars Can you please confirm why the x40 performed so poorly on your mopping score of 3.7. It certainly didn't seem to line up your comments in the video let alone other with other experiences. It seems to have the exact same moppong set up as the l40 which you rated 4.7 (among the absolute best and above s1 pro which people widely regard as the best). 3.7 is below even mid range performers which is below average to my understanding
Additionally you've got l40 rated at 4.6 vs the x40 at just 3.5 despite getting the exact same score of 22 in obstacle avoidance and not appearing to have issues with it's path efficiency. And finally you've got 4.3 vs just a measly 2.6 on battery life for the exact same battery
Reallly confused. Could there be some discrepancies and does it warrant adjusting the x40 scores accordingly? it's still the top model available in aus and the l40 and l20 aren't available here
Hoping to find out if I'm missing something as I'm tossing up whether to buy the X40 which I am getting for $1575 AUD
Is the cleaning solutions used for the onboard tank to clean thr floor. Many claim it is only used to clean the pads and uses water only on the floors.
No, solutiom is auto mixed in the clean water for mopping.

The concern with Dreame the quick lack of support for their "older" models (L20) that was released in the Q4 '23

Have you tested the auto emptying function with pet hair? I have LS10 pro which doesn't do well with pet hair. It actually stays in the vaccum when it self emptying. I was thinking of upgrading if that function was now improved

The dreame x40 ultra hass the most advanced robot vaccum features like side brush extend. Lifts side brush up when senses spills. 12,000 pascals takes the lead. The dreame has the technology compared to the x30 and the cfm compared to the l20. A huge con is the price.

DON'T BUY it if you will use outside China. It's for their domestic market.
I bought when I was in China and worked perfectly. Now in my country app is blocked and work only by pressing power button. Almost a brick.
There's a workaround but it's not worth the headache.
