Yeah. It sounds like a doll's battery dying out and it represents Charles Lee Ray's evil spirit leaving the doll. But the damage is already done: Andy is left deeply scarred by the whole ordeal and won't look at a Good Guy doll the same way anymore. All of this equates to an allegory of evil (Charles Lee Ray) corrupting and killing childhood innocence (the Good Guy doll). The moment the spirit leaves the doll, its battery dies out. And the ending scene, that freeze-frame of Andy as he looks back at the doll's charred remains pretty much symbolizes Andy looking back at his childhood with the knowledge that it's been destroyed beyond repair. It's dead. He won't be the same anymore. All he wanted was a doll, and he got the trauma of his life. The very moment he met Chucky, his life went down the drain.

One of the scariest and most realistic I think scenes in a late 80s horror movie, I find the rage in Brad Dourif's voice to be very realistic, and the end line really sticks in one's mind. I really think child's play 1 is a very dark movie, and I think it has a variety of subtexts and visual themes that are presented without any dialog or direct acknowledgement by the cast.
That last line really is depressing. Knowing no one will ever believe the truth and that they’ll have to deal with the consequences of the murders Chucky committed completely knocks the wind out of their victory.
He's adorable even today as an adult. Alex Vincent luckily didn't succumb to the fate of most child actors. Chucky was always at his scariest in the first when he DIDN'T just go with cracking the jokes and making fun at his situation but as an very angry very pissed off determined killer trying to get out of the doll's body. The ending if they didn't do part two with the "Who is going to believe me" could have ended right then and there with no sequels and it still would have held up today without them.
I was like 10 years old when my parents took me to the movie theater to watch this movie. I remember the audience laughed when the detective asked him "you believe me now?" and the guy said yeah. LOL I wish it was still 1988
My Grandma took my mom and my aunt to go see this in theaters and I saw it on dvd wen I was 4 and omg bro I literally shat my pants for my first horror film
I don't know why, but there's something I find kinda...I don't know how to describe it...by that last thing of dialogue. "Believe me now?" "Yeah...but who's gonna believe me?"
And the company decides to be stupid and bring him back after two full years, even if even if they thought Andy was lying, i would not touch the doll since he was burned to a crisp
Cole Goodrich just shows that this entire situation is something they have to live with. No one is gonna take an attacked by killer doll call seriously and the fact that it was possessed by the killer who was gunned down. Along side the fact that they can be sent away to an asylum trapped while also worrying if it would happen again due to the specific doll or any toy in general coming to life to kill them.
This scene's without a doubt the best death scene for Chucky considering that he dies by getting shot in the heart! Add to the fact that this death scene was in the first movie makes it even more iconic and unforgettable! No Chucky death scene from the other movies can top this one! Not even 2 or 3!
You also gotta remember his heart was the only thing that was Turing human as the other films went on he became more human that’s why it took more for him to die more then it did in the original
0:17 everyone’s over here worried about the living killer doll when I’m more scared of the possessed basket that gets knocked off and then puts itself right back on the TV in the next shot 0-0
First time I watched Child's Play 1, I was like "THIS IS SOME SCARY SHIT!!!" Chucky coming to life in Karen Barclay's arms made me shit my pants in fear, then after watching the ending, I felt like it did not need any sequels (e.g. Bride and Seed of Chucky) if it did, it would need to be a distant sequel to the original (e.g. Psycho II came out 23 years after Psycho 1; Texas Chainsaw 3D was made after the 1974 classic three years ago; Mad Max 4 was finally made and released 30 years after Thunderdome)
What's all da fuzz? I'm just saying that Child's Play 1 scared crap outta me from first time watching it and after seeing the sequels after this one I felt like it didn't need a sequel or two after all.
"hi I'm chucky wanna playyyyy?" with the one eye still wide open and andy closing the door with the camera freezing on his face along with the haunting music made for a ending that creeped me TF out for a long time
if something like this happens in real life, would be scary again. Thats is the reason why back then this was scary, ppl used to be less critical and less escepict at the time to watch a movie.
it's like the partner always believed in the possibility of the doll being posessed but was in denial of it this whole time because he knew others wouldn't believe him.

Chunky is a fighter to the end 😂
Chucky was always at his scariest in the first when he DIDN'T just go with cracking the jokes and making fun at his situation but as an very angry very pissed off determined killer trying to get out of the doll's body. The ending if they didn't do part two with the "Who is going to believe me" could have ended right then and there with no sequels and it still would have held up today without them.
If there weren't sequels, chucky wouldn't be well knowed as today
“Kill him, kill him, kill em’ all”
OMG the sheer hatred in his heart
I don’t remember such a hate filled soul in a movie 😳
Chucky won't die. He'll come back. He always comes back to have revenge to kill if anyone gets in HIS way!
Jessica Morgan he's going to get you
But there's one who can get in his way an indestructible juggernaut Jason Voorhees
Jessica Morgan everyone but tiffany
*“Its dead“*
Chucky Body: *“Say what now?”*
Why are the cops in this movie SO stupid?
I was like 10 years old when my parents took me to the movie theater to watch this movie. I remember the audience laughed when the detective asked him "you believe me now?" and the guy said yeah. LOL I wish it was still 1988
My Grandma took my mom and my aunt to go see this in theaters and I saw it on dvd wen I was 4 and omg bro I literally shat my pants for my first horror film
@jos-eff5305 good times!
Your Born in 1978?
@casiesupernaw2947 actually yes! ☺️
despite being his first ''death'', Chucky received a lot of damage, to end with a shot in the heart, very brutal.
I don't know why, but there's something I find kinda...I don't know how to describe it...by that last thing of dialogue.
"Believe me now?"
"Yeah...but who's gonna believe me?"
Well a doll having a punctured heart that was intact is proof enough
And the company decides to be stupid and bring him back after two full years, even if even if they thought Andy was lying, i would not touch the doll since he was burned to a crisp
They didnt think he was lying, they thought he was crazy :( his mum too
Cole Goodrich they all saw the doll come to life but now if he tells anyone he won't have the proof to show them.
This movie is definitely a masterpiece
0:04 always made me laugh when nobody believes you that the puppet is alive and chucky appears
The end of one nightmare which leads to another.
Chucky: Hi I'm Chucky wanna plaaaaay?
Me: Play times over for you.
0:50 Finish Him!
Mike Norris Wins!
Fatality!
lol
You sure
1:13 gives me chills still and I’m 22 years old now lol
Here we see that Charless Lee Ray is merely an animal
King Ghidorah that’s true. He is😂
The actor really did good on this
0:18 That scream. Lol
Super saiyan
That gets me every time 😅
This scene's without a doubt the best death scene for Chucky considering that he dies by getting shot in the heart! Add to the fact that this death scene was in the first movie makes it even more iconic and unforgettable! No Chucky death scene from the other movies can top this one! Not even 2 or 3!
You also gotta remember his heart was the only thing that was Turing human as the other films went on he became more human that’s why it took more for him to die more then it did in the original
that face of Chucky on 0:03 is starring at me and I laugh
0:17 everyone’s over here worried about the living killer doll when I’m more scared of the possessed basket that gets knocked off and then puts itself right back on the TV in the next shot 0-0
Omg me too
.🤔😑.
Nah that’s why Karen got up, to put the basket back on the TV lol
Little did Andy know that this was only the beginning
0:25 DON'T LET GOOOOOOOO
1:12 "Hi I'm Chucky wanna *pLaAaAaAaY*
First time I watched Child's Play 1, I was like "THIS IS SOME SCARY SHIT!!!"
Chucky coming to life in Karen Barclay's arms made me shit my pants in fear, then after watching the ending, I felt like it did not need any sequels (e.g.
LMAO you said it! :) *thumb up*
+Wilderness People have different fear levels. Don't be such a showoff, dick.
well I haven't seen the sequels yet so I'm not one to judge
Your right but damn did you have to call me a dick
What's all da fuzz? I'm just saying that Child's Play 1 scared crap outta me from first time watching it and after seeing the sequels after this one I felt like it didn't need a sequel or two after all.
0:51
Shot through the heart and you’re to blame.
Love how it looks like Chucky flicked them off as he's dieing
hi im chucky wanna a plaaaaaay?
No fuck you
Inphase Park3262 😂😂😂💀
Drew Robinson
AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FO THAT!
Well that's creepy if not traumatizing to hear.........
Umm, Help?
When dude said “but who’s gonna believe me” I felt that 😂
Considering it’s Chris Sarandon, he should have said to Chucky “How dare you treat my friends so shamefully?!” and then...0:48.
"hi I'm chucky wanna playyyyy?" with the one eye still wide open and andy closing the door with the camera freezing on his face along with the haunting music made for a ending that creeped me TF out for a long time
0:57 is it just me or does he look like he's trying to flip them off
It used to be so scary but now it is merely laughable!
Still a better movie than Anabelle
if something like this happens in real life, would be scary again. Thats is the reason why back then this was scary, ppl used to be less critical and less escepict at the time to watch a movie.
But you gotta admit that "hi i'm chucky wanna plaaaaaay?" is still creepy to hear up to this day
You don't think a doll coming to life and trying to kill you is scary?
Agreed
Everytime Chucky dies he keeps coming back Everytime
Imagine finding that in your bath tub 1:20
1:29 Mike: You believe me now?
Yeah... But who's gonna believe *me?*
I really love how when somebody messes with something it comes alive so cool and funny😂
The way way his voice just changes still scares me to this day
Can we just appreciate the voice acting for chucky, bro was stressing in this scene 😂 “strangle him, DONT LET GOOOOOO”
When I was a kid I couldn't sleep well in weeks because of chucky.
Video Game Logic:
Getting Shot In-Game: OW!!!
Getting Shot In A Cutscene: 0:51
One of the most satisfying kill to get rid a psycho in a horror movie.
I swear at 0:56 he's trying to flip him off. 😂
Damn this is scarier than horror movies today
Just to see him change voices is so cool
Im sorry but the stangle him part was just funny as hell
I love how part 1 is soooooo NOT WOKE , MASTERPIECE CHILDS PLAY 1
"Kill em! Kill em! KILL EM ALLLLLL!" LMAO!
DON'T LET GOOOOO!
“Screams”
How's that funny you idiot? It was sinister as hell
@@greatestnitemare6626 That’s not how you talk to women🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿
@@allengreene9954 oh stfu white knight
0:51 Chucky gets shot in the heart
I can't believe Andy's Mom still got thrown into a Psychiatric Ward despite having two other valid witnesses besides Andy.
it's like the partner always believed in the possibility of the doll being posessed but was in denial of it this whole time because he knew others wouldn't believe him.
"Again, because he's becoming _more_ human, he can choke someone with one arm, one leg, and no head! Just like a _real_ person could!"
-Phelous in Nostalgia Critic's _Child's Play_ review.
That Canuck and his sell out pimp didn't watch this at all.
