I think part of the reason this works so well is that for the entire previous scene (Karen realizing he has no batteries), you keep expecting him to spring to life without warning. When she peeks under the couch, you expect him to spring to life. When she pokes him a few times with her hand, you expect him to spring to life. FINALLY THE 2019 CHILDS PLAY GETS A NEW REMAKE NEXT YEAR But Different But Still The Same As The Original But Black Trainers And No Good Guy Or Buddi To His Front Pocket
This is definitely one of my favorite moments in the whole Chucky franchise, the idea of this doll coming to life in your hands is terrifying, the way chucky looks and moves is great.
@@borderlinemikan oh yeah I heard how they had to make replica larger rooms every time they used a person in suit to keep his size small, I like how it honestly looks creepier than the doll sometimes
@@RandomExistencee Yeah or how his face becomes more human in the first movie. It’s cool and in the 3rd movie they used a different voice actor. i just watched these movies over 3 days and they’re kinda confusing but I would definitely recommend the series Update: just finished Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky a day ago
In my opinion, no one can do Chucky better than Brad Dourif. He IS Chucky. His manical laugher & growls. Perfect embodiment of menace and pure evil. His voice is iconic! I can't imagine anyone else being the voice of Chucky only because he does it SOOO INCREDIBLY WELL! Shame he didn't lend his voice in the reboot. ( I haven't watched it yet. I love the original movie. Watched it in the 90s so I have nostalgia. I Hope the reboot isn't bad. )
I definitely think this particular scene is the best Chucky has looked ever. He’s so alive, but not to an absurd degree. It just hits the right spot and almost makes me wish they had ditched the whole human transformation thing because of how good this form of him is in performance, how the doll looks and how he moves.
0:32 when someone gets you in trouble for something you didn’t do. *Its been a year and I never thought I would get this much likes from this comment. Thank you all😂🙏🏽
My sister did naughty things that got me into trouble even if I had no control over them, and yet my parents wrongfully blamed them on me. It happened more on car rides than at home, mostly in our Mercury Grand Marquis and a Ford Expedition, rarely in our Ford Windstar. The Windstar had bucket seats in the second row and because I have autism, I got the third row behind her and my brother, even if he was older than me. As for the Grand Marquis and Expedition, there was a bench seat for three in the second row and the three of us were compressed in the second row and my sister invaded personal space on me more than on my brother, and I lost all the privacy and cupholder accessibility I had, until the situation went too far because I was sick of getting blamed for everything my sister did to me. So I felt the exact same way as seen and heard on 0:32. Eventually, we stopped using the Grand Marquis as a group of five and used the Expedition and Windstar more often, and while using the Expedition, like the Windstar, I moved to the third row behind my sister and brother even if I wasn't the oldest child, that was different from most families of five who have their eldest kids in the third row, I had it for a different reason related to autism and so like the Windstar, my brother stayed in the second row with my sister and the second row was treated like a separate pair of bucket seats for two, one of each. So if you have three kids, I would suggest an SUV and/or a mini-van with a third row and have one out of three in the third row even if the second row is a bench seat for three. Better to separate them than compress them, otherwise they'd go through emotions like I did similar to 0:32.
@@ericwood2062 *hugs* there are many mean people in this world as wickedness exist in everyone but wanting to do harm to bad people is also wrong so Im glad you never hurt your sister. I understand what its like to get lots of horrible thoughts
It's so brilliant how this movie uses the slow build up from questioning whether Andy is the killer. To the batteries falling out the box and the jump scare of chucky turning his head with "Hi I'm chucky, wanna play ?" To this scene. Bravo
Bigger budget. The last couple of Chucky films have been direct-to-video. Not to mention, Chucky was built by an effects artist named Kevin Yagher in this movie, who didn't return for any of the sequels.
This scene made me laugh as a kid. The dialogue was just hilarious. My father and brother and I used to watch this for the laughs. My mom hated the Child’s Play films. 🤣🤣
This will forever be my favorite scene of the whole franchise.😂💀. When I tell you the part where he comes alive and starts cussing her out had me on the floor🤣🤣. Even after all these years it still cracks me up
I have always thought that chucky has the same strength that he had when he was a human. That is one of the reasons people have problems to deal with him.
@Fictional Subliminals No they didn't. They used special fx in one scene in cult of chucky which was a scene where chucky was walking from a distance with a knife. I've watched all of those movies numerous times. Other than that, they've used puppets in every single movie with electronic expressions.
Whats even more impressive is the special effects they used to make the doll look and act alive. I’m sure in the 80s that was extremely challenging. Today they could use CGI and other computer technology. I feel like the older movies were much scarier and enjoyable because you knew and could appreciate the lengths the people behind the scenes went to to make the story believable and the plots were so much better as well
Robots were a big thing in the 80s and 90s. The creators of they chucky robots were incredibly talented. It also helped that they hired a little person to play the non robotic parts.
Words cannot express how insanely hilarious this was when I saw this in the theater on opening weekend! When Chucky first comes to life for Karen the entire audience, including myself, erupted into a chorus of laughter that went unmatched until the Hulk slammed Loki around like a rag doll lol.
Because the entire catalyst of the third act is that he's slowly becoming more human the longer his soul remains in the doll, in the first movie there are even subtle changes to his appearance that pop up over the film's runtime to reflect this.
The new child's play is a combination of Stephen kings maximum overdrive and the original chucky. Also great security statement these movies bring up with rising age of technology and cross platform compatibility stuff.
I nearly did this when my mom was cleaning up stuff in my attic and tried to give away my original Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis with the boxes a couple of years ago. I was livid!!
This movie came out when I was ten. I walked into the living room where my parents were watching it and I was terrified. The doll looked so realistic, and Chucky's violent aggression and stream of profanity was like nothing I'd ever seen before. It was primal. I did, of course, grow up to love the film.
This scene kind of gets heartbreaking at the end. The only proof her son wasn't crazy and was actually telling the truth just literally ran out the door!
When I was younger this scared the heck out of me, but now that I’m older it makes me burst out laughing every time. Love the “old” Chucky. Also I don’t like how they changed the story line on how the doll became diabolical...from possession(which went great with the films) to a computer chip twitch(which was horrible).
Yeah that one sucked. It’s pretty random how they also decided to basically give Chucky technopathy. This one is creepier, in the right way too, and also has more personality.
@@t-nator8333 Right. I liked the grittier Chucky. His voice and his look went well with the horror and suspense. Too that off with some nice lines and that made any Chucky movie good. I didn’t particularly like The Bride of Chucky or the films after that though.
This scene here is the most memorable moment in the whole chucky series for me the part where she finds out the batteries are still in the box and chucky finally revealing himself to her is something that definitely scarred alot of kids including me into fearing every doll or toy might be like chucky

I definitely think this particular scene is the best Chucky has looked ever. He’s so alive, but not to an absurd degree. It just hits the right spot and almost makes me wish they had ditched the whole human transformation thing because of how good this form of him is in performance, how the doll looks and how he moves.
@parkerwoodall9125 what
0:32 when someone gets you in trouble for something you didn’t do.
Better to separate them than compress them, otherwise they'd go through emotions like I did similar to 0:32.

what people don't understand is chucky has the strength of a grown man but just in a doll body
Matthew Penfold genius
No, it's a fair statement. Literally everyone's tired counterargument for the series is "Just kick him! He's so small!"
How would he have the strength of a man hes so small
Because the entire catalyst of the third act is that he's slowly becoming more human the longer his soul remains in the doll, in the first movie there are even subtle changes to his appearance that pop up over the film's runtime to reflect this.
