@@greyMvtter for the first mission probably, but not for a bad cause, her brother genuinely needed help. Loved this game. One of only gripes is when you're on a mission and kill 30 people and it won't let you search all the corpses. I've tried on a few missions and I end up failing it for wandering off.

i never even noticed the camp "chores" untill i was in the epilogue and seen some black dots and realized they were an activity. I want. I really wish you got to play as sadie or charles at the end i find it hard to run around as john becuase he has a family and all that, im like ugh why would he do this now.
I've played the first game 3 times over (cause I loved that story and that world so much) and the call backs were subtle yet incredible if you caught them...for example, after the credits role, John and Abigail are standing in the future sites of their graves...then there's Dutch who repeats his final words when he's standing with Arthur before jumping off that cliff
It is absolutely unfeasible to live up to the production here. This is the most expensive game ever made, both monetarily and effort/time wise. Every second of playing I knew that it is something unprecedented, and that it raises the bar so stupidly high that we simply cannot expect it setting a standard. This is as close to the sky as we ever got, and it would be extremely impractical trying to chase after it every time now. Truly a special game.
On the slowness with the snow i can say i loved it. Strangely, for some people, i always loved the part in Dragon Age Inquisition where ur base gets destroyed and you have to make your way through a snowy mountain pass, hearing wolves in the distance as ur character puts his hand in front of his face to stop the wind, hearing them shivering. Trying to find the rest of your crew. It brought atmosphear and a sense of danger and loss, more than any other part in the game, save some character moments. Plus as a wisconsinite i love the snow, almost always have
Doing the debt collecting missions is how you got TB. Which is fitting. Read Arthur's journal. I didn't think Dutch was the villain, it was Micah. He was the snake twisting Dutch.
it took over my life outside of classes and i was enthralled by the story, world, and characters all the way through. i couldn't believe how much i loved Arthur as a character. this game really made me care for Arthur and emotional in the end
in the North East corner of the map there are many little things such as a viking burial site with a Helmet you wear as well as a stone with carvings of Norse scripture to a Goddamn Meteor sitting in a crater and there's even a small cabin not far from it with a Meteorite crashed through it's roof that killed the two individuals living their
Oh and Arthur had a son, there are a couple of ways to trigger the conversation he will do it with the nun at the train station after rescuing the soldier (forgot his name) in the eagle flies and rainfall story line
I can finally listen to this😂😂 took me forever to finish the game cause I got burnt out after that whole guarma section, I wanted to play red dead not uncharted lol. Anyway it was such a good game, the end (not the epilogue) was the most emotionally impactful part of a video game I've ever experienced.
After the first 10 hours I was comparing to see where the story ranked amongst my favorite movies and series of all time!!! And finishing it it was the most moving and engaging entertainment I have ever experienced.
Don't know how I just discovered colin a couple of weeks ago, but I really like this guy. His opinions, and inputs when it comes to video games, match up perfectly with mine. Red Dead Redemption ll is now my absolute all time favorite video game. I've always been really intrigued with the western genre. So it's the perfect game for me. So the fact that Colin likes it, makes me happy. I completely understand that not all people are gonna like the same games YOU like. But Greg Miller really pisses me off. I've heard him say he loved the first one, but then didn't even give the second game a chance, and I've heard him say, nothing but negative things about it.
As much as I loved Arthur the most touching moment for me was when John Proposed to Abigail with Arthur’s ring. Don’t know why, but it brought a tear to my eye for some reason 😅
The game is simply impressive. I just finished my second playthrough on PC. It's crazy. The fact that they were able to get through this spoilercast barely brushing on the visual fidelity, the music, the majority of the missions is crazy. There are just so many "satisfying" moments. The narrative experience is immaculate. As a player you really learn to care about Arthur Morgan. Though I believe John Marston is still my favorite Rockstar character, as he is more of a white knight than Arthur--though you do get to experience him a little more dirty in this game. Just a great experience. There is all most too much depth. I loved getting Arthur's Hat as John. Seeing how banged up and beat up it was after everything he had been through. The fact that John is carrying around Arthur and Mary's photo before he proposes to Abigail. There's just a ton of small touching things. An amazing experience, and I cannot help but feel like it got robbed a little for Game of the Year by most outlets.
God I miss Arthur. Before it came out I was hoping Arthur would die so we could play as John again, now I really don't wanna be playing as John. From the trailers I thought Arthur was a bit of dick, but I grew to fucking love him
This is a great game, finally found the time to finish it during covid. I pre-ordered this game and played a tiny bit at launch, but the first couple chapters were just too slow for my patience and mental state at that time in my life. I will say though... Idk why everyone, including hltb.com, suggests that doing only the story missions will take 40+ hours. I finished yesterday at 26 hours as per Social Club stats and I'm a pretty slow gamer who died a fair amount.
Late to the party since I finally finished the game after two months of playing it. I absolutely loved it! The conversation about never finishing a GTA game, and RDR being one of the only Rockstar games to complete is my case as well. I loved GTA 1 through San Andreas, but it always got to the point to where I just used cheats and dicked around in the game and never completed the story. I never bothered with GTA4 or 5 as a result. Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the only Rockstar games I have ever completed, and like Chris, I'm not even a Western fan. The characters and story of these two games have been incredibly compelling and pulled me into their worlds and care for the characters in a way few games have been able to. Going to your horse discussion, I don't recall either of you mentioning the "horse scene" during the ending. I only went through two horses, but if you're going through the ending with a horse you have maxed out your bond with, you'll get a scene of Arthur running back to it after it's shot to thank it and calm it during its final moments. That crushed me.
I love how Colin couldn’t have cared less about RDR and loved it and then you have fake Greg Miller claiming to be the biggest Red Dead fan a week before it came out and didn’t even give it a chance lmao oh the irony. Also I’ve got to be at least 200 hours in and am only a few missions into Chapter 4, great game
miloandot literally the only man alive that didn’t like the game is Greg Miller, he don’t like playing as bad guys, but he loved gta 5 when u play as a cannibal crack head who kills anything that talks, Greg just being a contrarian. Once he said he rather play AC Od, I was done with their content for a month sorry Andy and Nick but Greg needs to go
@@Woozie87 What are you 12? You stopped watching because Greg didn't like RDR2? Were your feelings hurt? He gave it a fair shot. I think 20 plus hours is plenty enough time to decide whether or not you would like a game. Also, he isn't a contrarian for not liking RDR2. He's loved countless games that are considered popular and highly regarded. Also, he isn't the only one who hasn't liked RDR2. Plenty of people haven't for several reasons. The slow pace of it, the controls and mechanics not being fluid, spending a lot of time on horseback, the lack(or limited) fast travel system. I love the game and aside of God of War it's my favorite game this year no question. Just adding this, so you don't assume I'm hating on it and act like a baby.
I know right??! And he prefers Assassin's Creed Odyssey for some weird reason. I mean c'mon Odyssey is extremely grindy, repetitive, and has some of the worst voice acting in any open world game I've ever played meanwhile Red tells excellent story, has great acting and an incredible world. I tried to get immersed in Odyssey and I just wasn't able to but with Red Dead I was glued to my screen playing.
I always finish games in 1-2 days and end up never playing them again. This game made me take my time. At first I was frustrated that I couldn’t finish it after a few times playing it. Ultimately I got connected to the world more than I have since the Metal Gear series. Fantastic game. I’ll remember this game for its fantastic story, like a great movie.
Loved the game. Rolled credits today. My only major gripe is that we didn't get to take the gangs camp into the southern/desert section of the map. Also I put a lot of time into exploring and didn't rush at all until the story kinda made me feel like I should. But It seems like I missed a lot. Never found a single hat. Only found a few of some of the collectables...never saw the night folk, the ufo or the vampire. But at the same time i saw a shit ton of stuff. It really is a piece of work.
You can usually diffuse a crime just as long as you don't draw your gun. When I accidentally tackle a guy. I let go and talk to a lawman. He almost always says "Move Along".
I did really like GTA V, but the whole switching between 3 characters really hampered my enjoyment. I would very much rather have 1 protagonist to invest in completely. Switching characters all the time really pulled me out of the experience I wanted.
I can understand that complaint, but I really liked the switching in GTA 5 and hope they continue with it in future games. It felt really unique and original. I think it was a smart way of doing fast travel by utilizing multiple characters.
I had a black Arabia horse for most of game with Arthur. When it died in the end I screamed and cried like a bit** - Such a great game, easily GOTY ->.
That's easily disputed, Bioshock + Infinite, System Shock 2, Star Craft+Brood War, Alan Wake, Half Life 2, Mass Effect 2, Witcher 3, Chrono Cross, Deus Ex, Kotor, Xenogears, Xenosaga, God of War (2018), etc, etc. There's too many amazing stories in games to even list which is better, they're subjective, and there's too many games most people have never bothered to play. There's no definitive list, I haven't played a fraction of all of the games in existence, I'm sure I left out plenty. I agree TLoU is amazing, but I have played through better stories.
systematik Witcher 3 in particular has incredibly good writing. The fact that it manages to tell an emotional, dramatic story that rivals games like RDR 2 and Last of Us while taking place in a high fantasy setting with trolls and sorcerers cannot be understated.
SmoothLegend God of War is great don’t get me wrong but I think in terms of writing it just doesn’t compare to Witcher 3. No one in God of War really talks like a normal person. The dialogue feels exaggerated for dramatic effect. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just feels a lot more over-the-top when compared to the dialogue of Witcher 3 which in my opinion feels much more grounded and realistic.
Just started it again on xbox a few after finishing it on ps4, can't remember the last time I wanted to start such a big game from scratch, I just wanted to return to the world and I have seen and done things I didn't even know about the first time. While mass effect 2 still has the best large group supporting characters ever this is close.
Love the game, but the frames drop constantly on PS4 Pro. I guess you're just not as sensitive to it, but I play on PC constantly on a 144hz monitor, so I notice it in every single console game.
Apparently there were, in fact, women outlaws/gunslingers who rode with their fellow male gang members, and just didn't give a fuck about anything but their gang. Link: www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/feature/women-of-the-wild-west/
As long as the developers at Rockstar aren’t “forcing” their workers to work 100 hours without proper compensation, it’s perfectly fine. If I was a passionate game developer I would probably be working 50-60 hours at least without even being conscious of it.
the ones who sacrificed are the people that get paid the same salary every year. not the people that made hundreds of millions of dollars that could have just employed more people to cut down the time on them
so the horse drinking is realistic there are 3 different kinds of handling. race handling is very touchy then there's standard and elite all with different kinds of handling and touchyness. on top of that the horse gets scared when there is predators around so they get flinch and will some time dump u and run away if your horse jersey to the side it could of been a snake
My only regret about this game is rushing through the main story... If I would've know what I know now, I would've just taken a breather after you get Jack back. At that moment in the game it would be best to go out and explore and do a bunch of side missions... I didn't do that, I powered through it like a beast... Not worth it since most characters die and you have TB, so exploring the world with Arthur when you have TB is a pain in the ass... Great game
one time as I was headed toward the Train station in Valentine to pay my Bounty I was approached by a woman who shouted at me for killing someone she was close to (I naturally assumed her husband) I gave her some money as form of apology but she knelt down and started sobbing in the middle of the road right in front of me ever since then I avoided massacring an entire town over a couple of bucks from the General Store
My arthyr is a badass and went out saving John and got shot by Micah, even tho im already almost dead from the disease lol im glad i got my sad ending becuase it made the micah subplot even more sensible for John to leave the ranch to seek revenge that actually starts the wheels of the original and how Ross found John
I wouldn't say that GTAV was really too boring a story, more that it was a very confusing story for me. I've beaten it about 4-5 times by now and it makes so much more sense to me which makes it more satisfying to go through than the first time.
the endings isn't tied to your honor level, it's based on your final choice, help John escape and Arthur dies peacefully on the mountain, choose to go after the money and Micah kills you.
themarine0316 I’ve seen two endings where Micah shoots you take place on the mountain and down near the cave. So I think it is attached to honor level as well as the final choice. Micah can also stab you. So that’s 3 different ways to die with at least two separate locations. It can’t just be tied to a choice with 2 options.
If they make a Read Dead Redemption 3, it’d be cool if you play as Dutch in the hayday of the gang and ending with the boat job in Blackwater. Maybe with an epilogue of you playing as Arthur or John again.
I strongly disagree with Colins opinion of charging hundreds for a game. That's just ridiculous. I bought the Supernatural blu ray set, seasons 1-13 for only 40. Arguably it has more hours. If these games are making their money back then why charge hundreds? It won't happen. He seems adamant but nah.
I felt like this game really was worth $100. So I paid $100, and the bonuses I got for that edition just seemed like a thank you from R*. Also, I think R* KNOWS what type of gamer is playing this game, and heard loud and clear the lament about the lack of single player DLC from GTA V. When Charles and Sadie leave, in the same scene one after the other they say they are leaving to go to Canada and South America, respectively. That seemed like a huge tease to me. I would not be at all surprised if we got single player DLC packs since R* knows we want it and will pay for it. I don’t even care if they’re small. I’ll take 7 story missions from Charles/Sadie and one goofy 5 hour Red Dead Invasion DLC. I really think we will see it. And even if we don’t, I’m content.
Hoping against hope it's an Arthur Vampire DLC where he gets an experimental blood transfusion for his TB from one of Strauss's business associates who happens to be from Transylvania.....shenanigans ensue
I didn't like that Arthur got TB at the beginning but then realized he got it from the rancher mr Downes that he was beating to death cause he owed the gang money. Actions have consequences.
Arthur Morgan is one of my favorite characters ever. When his horse dies and he stops for a brief second to say thanks, small touch but made me tear up.
Kidder189 man... just stop 😂
I ended up using the old guy from the lake cabins horse for the later part. When he died it got me in the feels lol
@@lungfulldrummer8921 I did the exact samee. Nd I felt terrible seeing him die and it was also random to me that he died lol
It's not often I cry while playing a videogame, but when I do cry it's because my horse died and John proposed with Arthur's Ring.
I had the same horse the whole game, it was very sad when he died. John proposing was so fucking good that mission was something special.

Did you ever ride into town and see everyone gather 'round the Hangman's noose
too see the Bounty you caught only a few days/weeks (in game) prior
Outstanding critique.. seems you guys felt about the same as I did. Amazing emotion filled game.
The Warriors was my favourite Rockstar game, until RDR2. Cried myself dry during the final ride back to camp.

I can hear Arthur trying to get through to Dutch in my head "Dutch!" as he slowly descends into his weakened TB state, and it's just so sad
There's a scene in chapter one in which you can hear Hosea say Dutch in the exact same way.
Why did you remind me! I just finished the game and I still can’t handle the feels.

Definitely not a third, Colin doesn’t know how math works I guess. I would guess it’s 1/7th or 1/8th of the game.
did that guy ever find Gavin?
A Don nope
Naw, Gavin isn't actually listed in the list of voiced characters.
RDR, in general, is one of the most tragic stories I've experienced.
It truly is tragic in every sense of the word. Arthur's arc is agonizingly sad.

I really wish you got to play as sadie or charles at the end i find it hard to run around as john becuase he has a family and all that, im like ugh why would he do this now.
Yeah, Charles is badass.
A Sadie single player dlc where you get to see her life as a bounty hunter would be fucking BADASS.
John Hrabe her and Charles are my favourite characters after Arthur
Hahahaha "I hope cd projeck red can nail it" was the best quote here 🤣🤣🤣 that did not age well
Great spoilercast fellers easily the best one on RUclips 👍
Lenny and Hosea were my favourites.
Yeah dude their deaths fucked me up, Lenny's in particular.
This game is just a huge achievement. All games after this have a lot to live up to. An amazing podcast btw.
Thank you Colin, been waiting for this
Colin "ends justify the means" Moriarty
I gotta read that journal that’s incredible 😭
Hands down the greatest Prequel to ever exist...
Change My Mind
I would put Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater up there
it took over my life outside of classes and i was enthralled by the story, world, and characters all the way through. i couldn't believe how much i loved Arthur as a character. this game really made me care for Arthur and emotional in the end
in the North East corner of the map there are many little things
such as a viking burial site with a Helmet you wear
as well as a stone with carvings of Norse scripture
to a Goddamn Meteor sitting in a crater
and there's even a small cabin not far from it with a Meteorite crashed through it's roof
that killed the two individuals living their
Oh and Arthur had a son, there are a couple of ways to trigger the conversation he will do it with the nun at the train station after rescuing the soldier (forgot his name) in the eagle flies and rainfall story line
I did 100% in 180hours according to the new ps5 times.. So it's deffo possible under 200h but I loveeeee it
As much as I loved Arthur the most touching moment for me was when John Proposed to Abigail with Arthur’s ring. Don’t know why, but it brought a tear to my eye for some reason 😅
Great episode, you went into great detail. 10x better than the spiderman spoilercast
Just beat the game so I can’t finally listen. I loved the game. The ending had me in tears. Rockstar knows how to make games.
God I miss Arthur. Before it came out I was hoping Arthur would die so we could play as John again, now I really don't wanna be playing as John. From the trailers I thought Arthur was a bit of dick, but I grew to fucking love him
I kept the same horse for the whole game... how do you go through 6!? lol
i am amazed at how much super random stuff there is in this game like the vampire and the ghost in the swamp
2 years later, I finally finished the game and now I’m here! Been wanting to watch this spoiler cast for years! Haha let’s do this.
Lol I’m about to do the same thing for their days gone spoilercast
Have been looking forward to this
This is a great game, finally found the time to finish it during covid.
Late response but the social club stats are skewered lower because it doesn’t count cutscenes or menus
Rushing the game at all definitely hurts it
I took 130 hours to beat it to the credits
129 for me brother. This is one of those where taking your time pays off two fold. What an amazing experience.
The UFO thing sounds like a reference to heavens gate
Great Spoilercast! One of my favorite games of all time for sure. I also lost a horse with John lol
Frame drops were very rare for me. There were only a couple times I can remember where I noticed any of that, and I'm still playing on a launch PS4.
Plays perfectly on my XB1X. It's also gorgeous as fuck.
Greg just didn't like it that much. Get over it. He played it for over 20 hours and just couldn't get into it. He gave it a chance.
Colin wasnt stuck on an AC high like Greg
miloandot literally the only man alive that didn’t like the game is Greg Miller, he don’t like playing as bad guys, but he loved gta 5 when u play as a cannibal crack head who kills anything that talks, Greg just being a contrarian.
Your horse could die in the first game, but if you have the deed you could always respawn the same exact horse.
Monday night football has no defense....but that's ok new sacred symbols EARLY! Love it
You can usually diffuse a crime just as long as you don't draw your gun. When I accidentally tackle a guy. I let go and talk to a lawman. He almost always says "Move Along".
I love how the game starts with you saving john and ends with you saving john (also has anyone found the strange man's house in lemoyne)
A patch that adjusts the shooting mechanics and the prompts should be explored in my opinion.
Awesome cast, gents!
This is my comment
Thumbed.
I’m pretty that’s my comment actually.
Acknowledged
I did really like GTA V, but the whole switching between 3 characters really hampered my enjoyment. I would very much rather have 1 protagonist to invest in completely. Switching characters all the time really pulled me out of the experience I wanted.
I can understand that complaint, but I really liked the switching in GTA 5 and hope they continue with it in future games. It felt really unique and original. I think it was a smart way of doing fast travel by utilizing multiple characters.
@@Fonzflicks Yeah, I definitely didn't dislike it so much that I wouldn't play gta 6 if it were like that. Just one of my super minor gripes.
Yeah I didn’t like the switching of characters either and didn’t enjoy GTA 5 really that much. But this game is phenomenal!
I had a black Arabia horse for most of game with Arthur. When it died in the end I screamed and cried like a bit** - Such a great game, easily GOTY ->.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us have the greatest stories ever written for any video game. I don’t think anyone can dispute this.
The fact that it manages to tell an emotional, dramatic story that rivals games like RDR 2 and Last of Us while taking place in a high fantasy setting with trolls and sorcerers cannot be understated.
systematik
Can’t forget MGS3
Patrick Gleason
GoW is high fantasy too
SmoothLegend God of War is great don’t get me wrong but I think in terms of writing it just doesn’t compare to Witcher 3. No one in God of War really talks like a normal person. The dialogue feels exaggerated for dramatic effect. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just feels a lot more over-the-top when compared to the dialogue of Witcher 3 which in my opinion feels much more grounded and realistic.
Really liked this episode, only one gripe: not enough mentions of Monster Rancher
Just started it again on xbox a few after finishing it on ps4, can't remember the last time I wanted to start such a big game from scratch, I just wanted to return to the world and I have seen and done things I didn't even know about the first time. While mass effect 2 still has the best large group supporting characters ever this is close.
Listening to the thing on my pod feeds. Thought I would give ya peeps a like here as well 👍
Great episode
I think this is the first ive evee heard "not enough spoilers" as a gripe
There was pressure to finish to avoid spoilers
Anyone else not believe Chris at all when he says he didnt do any heinous shit? That's the sound of guilt, friends.
I carried the same horse from beginning to end. Fuuuuuccckkkk that death hit me hard
Not sure why you can't set a way point for fast travel. If I recall correctly RDR had that.
Great game
great game. we are just getting the kind of $60 next gen experience I was expecting when the ps4 and xone first came out. Its about time.
I also had some major frame drops when I was in the bigger cities
Played on Ps4 slim
one time as I was headed toward the Train station in Valentine to pay my Bounty
I was approached by a woman who shouted at me for killing someone she was close to (I naturally assumed her husband)
I gave her some money as form of apology
but she knelt down and started sobbing in the middle of the road right in front of me
ever since then I avoided massacring an entire town over a couple of bucks from the General Store
My arthyr is a badass and went out saving John and got shot by Micah, even tho im already almost dead from the disease lol im glad i got my sad ending becuase it made the micah subplot even more sensible for John to leave the ranch to seek revenge that actually starts the wheels of the original and how Ross found John
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the Shenmue of this generation.
I wouldn't say that GTAV was really too boring a story, more that it was a very confusing story for me. I've beaten it about 4-5 times by now and it makes so much more sense to me which makes it more satisfying to go through than the first time.
Best Rockstar game and my 6th favorite game & franchise thus far!
What’s this platinum trophy glitch I’m hearing about?
Dude I don't know. When he said that I was taken back. I've been looking online forever and can't find anything about it
Aaron H Just earn it normally
Alex7henry You can’t get it yet normally, online hasn’t released yet.
Aaron H I’m aware, doesn’t change what I said
"This game could have been 100$"
To the point where I feel bad just buying the standard edition :v...
the endings isn't tied to your honor level, it's based on your final choice, help John escape and Arthur dies peacefully on the mountain, choose to go after the money and Micah kills you.
themarine0316 I’ve seen two endings where Micah shoots you take place on the mountain and down near the cave.
The epilogue idea can't work because red dead 2 start after the Blackwater
Do they talk about the Sony E3 news?
