  • If you want to play that distinctive folk style of Dylan, Donovan, Lennon, Ralph McTell and all the other folk-rock greats then this vid is for you. It's all about how you play the chords G - C and F - and the simple bass lines that link them all together. Tust me; it's easy when you know how.

This is brilliant, I didn't start playing until I was 60 & I'm still struggling 10 years on to stretch my little finger but Rob is helping showing exactly where his fingers are on the fret board, this is very important when learning new songs

When you started playing Catch the Wind by Donovan you really caught my ears. Rob, that would make a great lesson, apparently it was Donovan who taught Lennon some fingerstyle playing

Rob, I must say... really enjoying this style of video. I've only been playing a few months, so a lot of this feels a little out of my wheelhouse currently, but I'm still picking up plenty of gold dust through some of these principles you are teaching.
    Cheers, Matt

Follow the vid and do everything slowly to begin with. Your fingers will speed up the more you do it. Playing guitar is like a sport; you have to train your hands to do what you’re telling them.

Hi Rob, loving the videos and your quirky, amusing style of presentation ! I quite often notice an array of guitars in the background and at times you've mentioned having the 'wrong' guitar with you, if you have 5 mins. at some stage, perhaps at the end of a lesson, would you do a little 'rig rundown' maybe stating why you prefer certain types of guitar for particular songs or styles of music. To finish, how about a bit of slide tuition or perhaps something fron The Byrds fingerpicking, to tip the hat at the recently departed Mr Crosby.
Keep up the great work Rob.
