      Games Done Quick the ninjas on the final stage you can move towards the bottom of the screen where you fall off. If you do it right while they are in mid jump. You can get them to fall off without falling off. Just move close to the bottom when they jump str8 up

    This is the best Double Dragon game of the franchise, IMO. Addictive 2 player co-oop, awesome attack moves, recognizable enemies from previous games, great level designs, kickass soundtrack, demanding difficulty, and your girlfriend comes back to life in the end. One of the best NES games to boot.

      It's 1 of the best games in the series. Neon & Advance are good too.

      Hundreds of hours of childhood fun with my buddies. The jumping parts sucked though. But the fighting was amazing

    "Our childhoods have been avenged."
    I felt that. Oh, how I felt that. So many hours my brother and I spent trying to consistently get past those damned platforms...

    Nice run.
    This is one of my favorite NES games of all time. 1- or 2-players. Tossing the pipe at enemies results in one of the most satisfying noises, ever.
    I played it so much, that I got the timing down on the super knee almost as good as sinister1...almost.

      That version of Abobo, and arguably Abobo's design in general, is a tribute to the Chinese martial artist and actor Bolo Yeung, who you might know from Bloodsport.

    So I'm not the only person who thought that guy looked like Arnold. Also, the disappearing platforms was as far as I made it until the Game Genie was invented.

    I remember discovering the knee purely by accident as a kid. I experimented and found the timing for them and then I practiced it until I could skip across the stage kneeing constantly and made a joke of this game. Those platforming bits are still a life soak though to this day. They always got me as a kid but after unlocking the power of the mighty knee I had the lives to tank it. It was glorious. Hail the knee! Captain Falcon aint got shit on Billy's knee!

    • @danclassic7065
      @danclassic7065 6 лет назад +2

      I was never able to master the knee, at least not consistently. Never beat the game as a kid. I came back to it 20 years later. Would put in maybe one run every day or so and see how far I could get.
      One night, I was simply on fire. I was pulling off the knee move about 95% of the time. I had the platforming perfect too. Got to the shadow master without losing a single life, then pantsed him too.
      Felt pretty glorious to finally beat the game after 20 years.

    • @erintheangry
      @erintheangry 6 лет назад +2

      I know right? I remember back when I was good enough to beat battletoads on the NES. I owned it as a kid and it wrecked me at the ice and snake levels, then I eventually beat those. Then volkmire's inferno (like a jet version of the turbo tunnel) pushed my shit in. Eventually I beat that too. I really hated those bastardly platforming levels with instant death everywhere. I only ever beat that game twice. Once as a kid after MANY hours of practice, then once more as a teenager to prove to my best friend I did beat it. I tried it again now that I am in my 30's and I got schooled at the snake pit again. Then I come on here and watch some of these GDQ guys do the whole game in like 30 minutes... and 12 using warps and glitches. These guys are freakin nuts.

  • @Snadzies
    @Snadzies 6 лет назад +12

    I had a turbo controller for the NES growing up.
    All you had to do was hold down A and B and all you would do is the super knee.

    • @TheRealKaiProton

      Was in the Manual, and it was something simple like Press up on Dpad when rising from crouch

    • @erintheangry
      @erintheangry 6 лет назад +3

      Press both attack buttons on rising. The uppercut is done the same but with just punch. The timing is tight but you can master it quickly with practice.

    Actually, there's a spot in the first boss (Burnov), that makes possible skip the death scenes without bringing him close to the edge. But there's a small chance to nail, so it's safer just bring him to edge. (And the window frame for the knee is more lenient in the Famicom version, which have 3 difficulties, and in easy, it's about 20 frames)

    first time i beat this game with with the knee finsih and i was shocked that it slowed down for the epic Finish. Use to do the knee all the time when younger and now I am rusty when I play it once in a while. Which I could have beaten the same at the same speed but now I dont have the pacience to complete an entire game or practice.

  • @GeovaneSanciniSR
    @GeovaneSanciniSR 6 лет назад

    Oh, he taked the intentional death of stage 6 (I usually don't do it), but not the stage 2 (kill himself at the ladder is quickier than going down normally).

  • @Istreakilaz
    @Istreakilaz 5 лет назад

    Not too sound boastful, but I think I have the knee perfected, like sinister1. I was about 6 back then and once I discovered it by accident, trying to recreate the tornado, it took me a week or so of 2+ hours each of DD2 and Super Contra to figure out the timings of each moves and enemy spawns respectively.
    Glad to say, I mastered them and completed the game solely with normal jump and knee move Only. Not a single missed knee, except when hit by the ninjas and throwing knives.
    And so, my OCD syndrome was born back then.
    (Ok, edit- checked X2. Still got those magic fingers. And anyone thinking turbo a+b, naah. I hated even pressing turbos, except for bullet hell games like silkworm, when those WERE useful. I didn't even know Holding down both turbos gets you constant knee. I just read that in the comments, still not tested it) (:-p) I take pride in my gaming abilities, even though my dad never consented and told me gaming is trash :'(

    One of my favourite speedruns on GDQ. That moment when he says "Thank you everybody" and then a happy part of ending song starts with transition to GDQ "hub" is just priceless.
