This is the purest way to experience a game. With several hyper-experienced nerds explaining the relevant mechanics as they occur
playing this now and finally to the world of ruin ( a little behind where i was before my score got erased years ago) so I'm experiencing this beautiful game essentially all over again. next is FF5 or FF1 and upward not sure yet.
Watching this always makes me wonder how I beat this game when I was 6. It's such a great game with in depth mechanics but it's also pretty straight forward if you're not trying to go fast. Grind levels and attack, do damage find best weapons and espers and do the thing. Such a great game made better by the sheer level of knowledge these people have
Found this in 2021 and it was well worth the 7 hours.
It was so hype live, one of my favorite gdq moments and I've watched all of them live lol
Watching it again, well well worth the time.💖👍
2023 and still good over here!
@@A-bit-Shifty i didnt see it live, but watching this, i can still feel all the energy. it reminded me of the chrono trigger hundo run during a different gdq and how they reached 3 million dollars during it.
Watching this live was a joy. Took the whole week off from work for a lil stay cation.
I had to sign on my account to comment on how fantastic that lady is for getting up to actually sing during that one scene. It was at around the 2hr and 3min mark (2hr mark for the game timer). She’s great for doing that and really adding to how awesome GDQ is. I even applauded after the fact. Thank you!
She makes me tear up every time i hear her sing...best part of the run always.
This has got to be the most exciting, thrilling, joyous, fun video I've ever seen on RUclips. FFVI is my favorite final fantasy game of all time and to see someone do a 100% speedrun for it while GDQ is able to bring in 2 million dollars....priceless. Great job Puwexil, you're the man!
watch his chrono trigger gdq run too!
so much love for this game, it really is a masterpiece along with chrono trigger
It's only fitting that they passed two million dollars during Final Fantasy 6, one of the greatest games ever made. It's a very special game with a lot of emotion, great music, great stories, the list goes on. Pure fantasy. What a beautiful speed running event. This is what it's all about, folks.
Something cool I've never noticed before: At 4:16:00 the man in the merchant clothes quickly rescues the Imperial soldier before he is crushed in the chasm. So many little details in the briefest of cutscenes.
for all we know, that's the imperial soldier in the colosseum in the world of ruin
Puwexil's runs are something to behold, this will be a fun watch
yeah I love his Chrono Trigger runs
Yeah, the amount of patience and memory involved in not just learning but executing a speed run on an RPG this long is just mind blowing especially when considering this is a marathon setting. Hes damn good at this and always fun to watch.
2 years and that countdown still gives me chills. Never been happier to discover GDQ.
I never get tired of these Final Fantasy VI speedruns, every year is different but is always great
30:50 "we have done so much preparing for all of this that we know exactly what's going to happen."
31:16 :God casts No Signal:
Really nice to see Puwexil owning this moment and letting himself feel the good vibes. I think I detected some genuine tears - maybe. Good job, man.
The most beautiful game of my life (and the best FF). This OST
This game was not only fun as heck when I was a teenager, it also shaped me as a person. It blew my mind, opened me up to possibilities. The music. Thank you, I have now seen a side of this game I never thought possible, close to 30 years since I first played it. A genius solution to a genius game. Thanks for the awesomeness.
I tried desperately to stay up for the whole run, but was unsuccessful. Finished it the next day and was so happy I did. Great job, puwexil! Love your runs
This run was brought to you by NO SIGNAL
Seriously, though I saw most of this run live, holy shit, was it amazing.
Also thank you Twitch Chat.
I never got NO SIGNAL playing this in the '90s... does technology really get better over time?
@@DavidKlausait's to do with capture cards. They're a bit tricky.
Man, what a glorious game done by such an awesome runner! GG to all, and much love to GDQ for supporting a wonderful cause.
Took me 3 days to watch this. Was not disappointed. Great run great commentary and hitting 2million brought a tear to my eye with all the energy. Also next year is only a couple hours from my house I might be finally able to go
If you don't suplex the Phantom Train, did you even Final Fantasy VI? hmm
IIRC you can still suplex the train in the GBA version
@@gigaslave You can. I've done it.
brilliant
I didn’t because Sabin got frogged so he couldn’t blitz
I used a Phoenix Down❤
Loved watching this all day while working. Brought back many good memories
How you all were able to stay seated for so long boggles my mind. Incredible! Great job
This is my favorite game of all time. I mapped out a whole notebook of notes with the gamegenie codes. I wish I could find that notebook. So many hours spent playing this game.
I suddenly got this wave of nostalgia when they arrived at Jidoor (right before the auction house). It brought me back 25 years.
I Laughed, i cried, i had a strange craving for Arby's, and finally i saw an amazing speedrun. Thanks AGDQ for an amazing display of Final Fantasy 6.
2:02:54 Aria De Mezzo... I may have cried a little bit. ;_; but what an amazing run overall glad I tuned into the whole thing!
This run was a fantastic moment for gdq history, not only was the run near flawless and 100%awesome but they broke 2mil in donations. Watching this live was amazing. Good run puwexil
20k countdown to 2 million starts at 6:31:00 !
This GDQ was so great, it made my week so much better and this was the perfect climax to it
That final dungeon donation train to get to 2 million was the hypest thing I've ever been a part of. What an amazing night!
And then Chrono Trigger 2019's SGDQ run happened. 😳😳😳
That was like watching a virtuoso musician perform an incredibly difficult and lengthy musical piece and making it look absolutely simple. Great job, Puwexil.
The live opera performance was epic.
Watched this over the last few days looked like such a fun time! One of my all time favorite games. Congrats on such a successful run!!
And then suddenly beautiful Opera outta NO WHERE!!! AMAZING!!!
(No Signal)
Amazing job this season. Great run. I still give it 100 missing Alexander magicite. You beat the boss to show where it was.
Props to the commentators for really trying to use the incentive names; it is harder in this game than in most SNES games.
I think this is the finest speedrun ever captured on video. Great gameplay by Puwexil. Knowledgeable and encouraging couch team. Hyped as heck hosts. Engaged and enthusiastic live crowd. Generous and excited Twitch chat. Amazing singing by Sumichu. To top it all off? $2M earned for MSF! I'll never forget this one.
I can't wait until GDQ goes live in-person again, because this is what it's all about.
Great job Puwexil, you're awesome. Taken me 3 day's to watch from start to finish due to hectic life, always catch up on your runs though, managed to watch 1 or 2 games a day during the week, this is the one i was looking forward to though :) good job SGDQ
I've never seen this game before: Final Fantasy: No Signal
4:02:31 Oh right, that's why I keep getting an occasional itch to replay this game. FF6 has almost all of the best BGM on the SNES.
Been a treat watching this over the past couple of weeks. Loved muting the mic and listening to the song at 5:47:30
Watched this live and donated for the magi master fight, I've watched it 3 times since and this is 4, I just put it on and watch while working its a beast of a run and the commentary is amazing. Puwexil is the king of finale runs lol
God I remember watching this as the finale to SGDQ 2018. What a fun event and an even better run to cap it off with. Good job puwexil, even if it's a couple years late
One of the hypest and most entertaining runs I've ever seen. Good going Puwexil!
Too bad about Alexander, but was still an epic run. Awesome twitch chat hype train near the end
@2:04:00 -- OMG they got someone to actually sing the opera part!!!!!!!!!!!!
God... I almost cried that was so beautiful!!
your most welcome 1:03:30 for suplex train and 2:02:35 Sumichu performance.
HOLY SHIT THAT SINGING SEND SHIVER DOWN MY SPINE. WOOOOH
Woah what did I missed!!! That soo nice singing!
my most welcome?
Man, the singing was great
bewd85 aa
Took the couch about a half hour to settle in, but they hit a nice groove. Great contributions from everybody. Of course it's always great to see Vulajin.
Wow. These speedruns really impress me. I am almost 50, back when this game came out in the 90's, I played it a lot. I know this game very well, I got credited with corrections on an old guide put out back the year this came out. And I am still very impressed.
terra is lying on the ground more often than Neymar
LMAO
I am from Brazil and i recognize that this is true.
i believe you mean Zandra, not Terra.
Terra actually means ground/earth in italian lul
@@pinorossi3488
In portuguese too!
@@pinorossi3488 hence how Kefka Terra-formed the Ruined world
End of the game gives me goosebumps. End of the video gives me feels. Awesome job puwexil, all the runners, and GDQ!
1:50:50 I'M SORRY
5:47:42 I remember when I played the game as a kid and Forever Rachel played I was blown away. My brother wasn't playing with me at the time and I was breathlessly telling him how there was this amazing song that they only played once. Such a great game and soundtrack!
99.9%, he didn't get Alexander! Nice run and a great finale to SGDQ!
just like FF7 during last year SGDQ a super long run made awesome by awesome commentary and gameplay.
You guys finally did a marathon without the Demon Chocobo vs. Good Taste war? THANK YOU!!!
Nah fuck that. I hated the Demon Chocobo at first, but the back-and-forth donation battle was always really entertaining, and I thought there was something missing during this run because of the absence. DC should be a part of every FFVI GDQ run.
The opera scene was really, really nice.
Still yelling at the screen that he forgot to pick up Alexandr. Still, awesome run and waiting for AGDQ now.
time?
6:35:35
Right after beating Wrexsoul and Cyan powering up, he needed to run back to the throne room and get Alexander on the seat.
I did wonder why he didn't turn around for it, haha.
Wonderful Glitchless 99% run!
Legit when I started playing this game I didn't understand what the deal with Phantom Train cutscene was. Now that I look at again here it almost made me cry.
Love this game. loved it for 30 years now!
been out for nearly 26
My first GDQ video watch ever. Quite the childhood throwback. It was epic! I was pretty bad with the BoomRush input, gg on that lol
ahahahah the dance after the opera scene killed me. i have a cold, and i laughed so hard the coughing fit afterward was painful but worth it.
Oh boy. Seven hour video! This category might be the only one I'd ever be capable of learning to speedrun. I _have_ to do everything in a game, and I can't think of a better game to play the hell out of than this one. Shame my cartridge's save battery died, though.
you know... The gaming community can be a shady, shitty place sometimes. but other times its... this. its silly, its fun, its impactful, but most importantly its extremely good at coming together to unite under a single banner for something special. Thank you SGDQ for always being the shinning pillar in the centre of the community that reminds us why its good to be a "gamer"
Aah, puwexil. I was about 19 when this came out. I used to watch this guy really wreck Final Fantasy. I say wreck, but his love for it and experience are so apparent. Its crazy how all of us at some point and time shared this experience together.
SGDQ2k18 was my first GDQ event I watched live, and it was awesome. This was a amazing run to end off SGDQ2k18 can’t wait for the next event!
A train lifted up and put back down perfectly like nothing happened.
I have an exam tomorrow and I decided to watch one video before studying, and here I am!
The science and calculations that goes into speedrunning these RPGs is impressive as fuck!
This makes me wanna play FF6, it's been so long.
I honestly can't even believe people are able to do this! The amount of practice and research this must take!
Good to see you here puwexil
In my opinion this is the best final fantasy game ever. I would love to see it become a series of movies.
I would even love a series of novels
Oh my goodness, she rocked the opera scene.
I remember once setting up an auto controller before doing the raft part. and then I went on vacation. Come back five days later, still wasnt level 99.
1:20:13 - I've played this game many times for the last decade. I never knew about that secret bridge.
I always did the long way of stealing the green armor (like the game probably wanted you to).
Damn, I need to play this game again.
(Goes off to find out where I put my SNES, somewhere buried in the basement.)
Speediest seven hours of my life.
this was the best FF storyline for me.
one of the best games of all time. so many incredible memories from a reality not my own. i... loved celes. i... helped save the world. i... .. i ... i loved that gaming experience when i was a wee child... ... i ... i loved it... :( ... :)
These speedrunners I feel are highly underrated. These folks must have god like intelligence and grit to put themselves through thousands of hours to perfect these forms of media.
Puwexil really puts in work. Great run.
Sumichu just knocked it right out of the park with that song!
This video is the gold standard of ff6 speedruns , Puwexil is a living legend.
I search for random ffvi videos for nostalgia purposes and see this uploaded 3 days ago...
Lukcy day
Congrats on 500k
Puwexil is the king of this game by a mile. I love watching him play it
Huh... turns out the signal is weak to pearl.
7 hours of excellent entertainment!
This entire run was so wholesome.
6 hours of pure awesome sauce
This...this is exactly what I needed for 6 hours 🍻
This game deserves the remake ASAP!
Probably my fav run of the whole event. This or bionic commando. SUPLEX!!!!
Seen this run 10 times never gets old. FFvii will always be one of my favorite games, especially because of Kefka...of all the bad guys in FF games who want to destroy the world Kefkas one of the only ones who actually does it.
AAAAAANNNNDDDD TIME! Your time was 6 days and however many hours and how ever minutes cause RUclips doesn't show exact upload time. Lol
Man, routing this game must have been an absolute nightmare!
Ugh... That aria gets me everytime... ❤️
Listening in the background at work and hear, "and this is just a perfectly normal train in the middle of the woods that definitely does NOT have ghosts in it"
Made me laugh coffee all over the place.
Don't worry Leo! We'll revive you soon, and then we'll use the technique on Aeris!
FF6 should be ran at every GDQ event just for the Opera shenanigans
