playing this now and finally to the world of ruin ( a little behind where i was before my score got erased years ago) so I'm experiencing this beautiful game essentially all over again. next is FF5 or FF1 and upward not sure yet.
Watching this always makes me wonder how I beat this game when I was 6. It's such a great game with in depth mechanics but it's also pretty straight forward if you're not trying to go fast. Grind levels and attack, do damage find best weapons and espers and do the thing. Such a great game made better by the sheer level of knowledge these people have
@@A-bit-Shifty i didnt see it live, but watching this, i can still feel all the energy. it reminded me of the chrono trigger hundo run during a different gdq and how they reached 3 million dollars during it.
I had to sign on my account to comment on how fantastic that lady is for getting up to actually sing during that one scene. It was at around the 2hr and 3min mark (2hr mark for the game timer). She’s great for doing that and really adding to how awesome GDQ is. I even applauded after the fact. Thank you!
This has got to be the most exciting, thrilling, joyous, fun video I've ever seen on RUclips. FFVI is my favorite final fantasy game of all time and to see someone do a 100% speedrun for it while GDQ is able to bring in 2 million dollars....priceless. Great job Puwexil, you're the man!
It's only fitting that they passed two million dollars during Final Fantasy 6, one of the greatest games ever made. It's a very special game with a lot of emotion, great music, great stories, the list goes on. Pure fantasy. What a beautiful speed running event. This is what it's all about, folks.
Something cool I've never noticed before: At 4:16:00 the man in the merchant clothes quickly rescues the Imperial soldier before he is crushed in the chasm. So many little details in the briefest of cutscenes.
Yeah, the amount of patience and memory involved in not just learning but executing a speed run on an RPG this long is just mind blowing especially when considering this is a marathon setting. Hes damn good at this and always fun to watch.
I tried desperately to stay up for the whole run, but was unsuccessful. Finished it the next day and was so happy I did. Great job, puwexil! Love your runs
Seen this run 10 times never gets old. FFvii will always be one of my favorite games, especially because of Kefka...of all the bad guys in FF games who want to destroy the world Kefkas one of the only ones who actually does it.
Took me 3 days to watch this. Was not disappointed. Great run great commentary and hitting 2million brought a tear to my eye with all the energy. Also next year is only a couple hours from my house I might be finally able to go
This game was not only fun as heck when I was a teenager, it also shaped me as a person. It blew my mind, opened me up to possibilities. The music. Thank you, I have now seen a side of this game I never thought possible, close to 30 years since I first played it. A genius solution to a genius game. Thanks for the awesomeness.
This is my favorite game of all time. I mapped out a whole notebook of notes with the gamegenie codes. I wish I could find that notebook. So many hours spent playing this game.
This run was a fantastic moment for gdq history, not only was the run near flawless and 100%awesome but they broke 2mil in donations. Watching this live was amazing. Good run puwexil
I think this is the finest speedrun ever captured on video. Great gameplay by Puwexil. Knowledgeable and encouraging couch team. Hyped as heck hosts. Engaged and enthusiastic live crowd. Generous and excited Twitch chat. Amazing singing by Sumichu. To top it all off? $2M earned for MSF! I'll never forget this one. I can't wait until GDQ goes live in-person again, because this is what it's all about.
you know... The gaming community can be a shady, shitty place sometimes. but other times its... this. its silly, its fun, its impactful, but most importantly its extremely good at coming together to unite under a single banner for something special. Thank you SGDQ for always being the shinning pillar in the centre of the community that reminds us why its good to be a "gamer"
That was like watching a virtuoso musician perform an incredibly difficult and lengthy musical piece and making it look absolutely simple. Great job, Puwexil.
Legit when I started playing this game I didn't understand what the deal with Phantom Train cutscene was. Now that I look at again here it almost made me cry.
Great job Puwexil, you're awesome. Taken me 3 day's to watch from start to finish due to hectic life, always catch up on your runs though, managed to watch 1 or 2 games a day during the week, this is the one i was looking forward to though :) good job SGDQ
Took the couch about a half hour to settle in, but they hit a nice groove. Great contributions from everybody. Of course it's always great to see Vulajin.
Wow. These speedruns really impress me. I am almost 50, back when this game came out in the 90's, I played it a lot. I know this game very well, I got credited with corrections on an old guide put out back the year this came out. And I am still very impressed.
God I remember watching this as the finale to SGDQ 2018. What a fun event and an even better run to cap it off with. Good job puwexil, even if it's a couple years late
5:47:42 I remember when I played the game as a kid and Forever Rachel played I was blown away. My brother wasn't playing with me at the time and I was breathlessly telling him how there was this amazing song that they only played once. Such a great game and soundtrack!
Watched this live and donated for the magi master fight, I've watched it 3 times since and this is 4, I just put it on and watch while working its a beast of a run and the commentary is amazing. Puwexil is the king of finale runs lol
1:20:13 - I've played this game many times for the last decade. I never knew about that secret bridge. I always did the long way of stealing the green armor (like the game probably wanted you to). Damn, I need to play this game again. (Goes off to find out where I put my SNES, somewhere buried in the basement.)
Aah, puwexil. I was about 19 when this came out. I used to watch this guy really wreck Final Fantasy. I say wreck, but his love for it and experience are so apparent. Its crazy how all of us at some point and time shared this experience together.
I think it's mostly because of length of the run and also because, to my memory, no GS games have been released else than portable consoles. And from there it's just that GBA speed runs are very inconsistent to capture in a long run
Nah fuck that. I hated the Demon Chocobo at first, but the back-and-forth donation battle was always really entertaining, and I thought there was something missing during this run because of the absence. DC should be a part of every FFVI GDQ run.
I remember once setting up an auto controller before doing the raft part. and then I went on vacation. Come back five days later, still wasnt level 99.
These speedrunners I feel are highly underrated. These folks must have god like intelligence and grit to put themselves through thousands of hours to perfect these forms of media.

Really... I wonder why everyone donates such high amounts...?!?! But then the opera scene. Explains it all. Well worth it!!! God, I love this game, but that live action opera scene just made this whole speedrun!

Really nice to see Puwexil owning this moment and letting himself feel the good vibes. I think I detected some genuine tears - maybe. Good job, man.

Props to the commentators for really trying to use the incentive names; it is harder in this game than in most SNES games.
2:02:54 Aria De Mezzo... I may have cried a little bit. ;_; but what an amazing run overall glad I tuned into the whole thing!
