Well down here.....Its a social media thing. If they say the hp they have and lose with it it's embarrassing but if they say they have less and lose than it doesn't look as bad on social media. Now with this gt350 owner....the next month later he said go ahead and say what hp he has so I changed the title. So I'm glad he allowed me to reveal the truth 😁

If a shop claims 1000 whp, but that power is STD correction on an inertia style dyno, the number SAE on a load based dyno would probably be more like 870-880 whp. In reality what matters, and should be the only thing that mattered, is the percentage of power increase. It's so easy for a speed shop to sell a big power number, but so hard to explain when the car does not perform. Here's an interesting experience dealing with such a matter. I helped a friend get a refund from an engine builder two years ago, because the builder did not deliver the promised power. He was going to rebuild an LS7 and promised a 200 hp increase over OE. That means a 200 hp increase when the engine is fully dressed, has full intake and air cleaner, full exhaust, and water temps of 180 F. I went with him just for fun to see the engine run on the dyno, and what did I find? The engine was on the dyno, but an dyno headers with collector extensions, no air cleaner, no accessories of any kind- it even relied on the dynos electric water pump, and the guy ran it at 135 F. Sure it made 710 C_hp, but that was using STP correction with the above dyno configuration. I told the builder straight up that he was cheating and that the engine was nowhere near 200 hp over OE. Just prove my accusation, I asked him to raise the water temp to 180F and use SAE correction. Even without the actual headers used in the car, and still no accessories, the power went down to about 665. Now imagine how it would do had I insisted on putting the powersteering pump on, the same water pump as used in the car, an alternator driving the ECU, a fan, and fuel pump, not to mention the in-car headers and mufflers, and lastly the air cleaners. Would be down another 25-30 hp. So the guy did not make an additional 200 hp, but more like 125. This is the kind of stuff that creates some of the issues on social media. While the above story was obviously not about W_hp, it's the same problem. People don't know how power is measured, should be measured, etc. and thus the expectations are off. A car making 1000 W_hp SAE on a lead based dyno feel radically different than a car making 1000 W_hp STD on an inertia style dyno, and the former would absolutely obliterate the latter if they raced.

I’m def getting a 5.0. Loved my girl ls3 but I wrecked her. Always loved the high rev of the 5.0. I live in a crowded street. I could always tell when it was that 5.0. Stop signs all ways. It was a fun game. These 5.0, they sound beautiful.

@@jasonlommen4769 I think it was actually at or near 170. It could have been like 160 and the speedometer is off from the owner putting on a different sized tire and not recalibrating. The cameras FOV in combination with a super wide road make stuff appear slow, but the lane markings are the best indicator. If you look at a video of doing 100 on an empty freeway vs 100 on a one lane road with trees close on either sides, you'd see what I mean. I have been up to 187mph, on a long wide freeway, and it didn't *feel* or *look* as fast as 150 down a 2 lane back road. I use Dragy when I do stuff like that, so there's no doubt.
Yea pretty much. It still felt awsome even starting from 4k though 😁. He had just finished breaking in his built tranny so he's ready to do some races. A friend of ours has a 950+ whp z06 that I'm going to set up for a race next week "hopefully". I'll be there for the footage if they both come out 😎

he pulled in 3rd gear at 4k rpm doing 60, if he would have pulled in second he would have been at 5500rpm there would have been wheel spin and/or TC would have been kicking on. boost at 4k is low and kicks in at 5500+, you gotta understand that these rev up to 8200+.
