THANK YOU !!!!! I've had the part for 5 months, and avoidance took over......once i got the screwdriver between the white & black, it all just fell into place. The world could use more people like you.
I did this on a 2012 accord exl and it was exactly the same. This video saved me some time. Thanks. Dealership wanted $310 for parts and labor. I got my replacement from Amazon for$36!
I'm laughing like crazy at your timing to post this video. I got my mirror broken a few days ago and had a horrible time removing that skull cap. There's one other video on youtube that mentions and shows skull caps but they make you think that they pop out easily when it's not like that. I saw it a little late but it helped me a lot when I was trying to replace the skull cap from the replacement mirror with the one I removed from my original one.. this video came up as a miracle to me because I truly needed it at this very moment... Thanks for taking time to share this, it will come really handy to other people I know..
Christian Abreu Thanks Christian! :) Glad it was helpful! I couldn't find anything online when I was looking on how to replace a skull cap, that's why I made this video.
@@basecampfirefly where do I get the silver skull cap, I thought you said they have to be ordered from Honda. Do you know the part number or where I'd find it. I'm missing a skull cap and need to replace my mirror so this is a great video
@@JayceAce231 Hi, Not sure. Mine was still intact, so I never had to buy one. I heard from another video that the dealer is where you would get them from. Just give them your VIN number and they will be able to match it with your paint.
so this is your first video...maybe then to make a great video it has to be your first one...because your video is one of the best videos on how to fix a car related matter...your detail is so good...all i have to do is probably watch it one more time an then i will be able to fix my mirror although mine is missing the cap i have the mirror i just need the cap...my beloved son made it disappear...thank you.
Great Video! I am glad that I came across it, because I have to replace the passenger side rearview mirror on my fiancee's Honda Accord Crosstour EX-L. I was curious if the process for replacing the mirror and assembly are the same for the Crosstour as they are for the regular Accord. Thank you in advance for your help! Your video was so incredibly helpful!
Thank you for the incite. I used this for my 2012 Honda Accord. Bought a mirror for $14.00 at auto zone. The only issue I had was, the mirror was glued to the white piece.
Wow great video you just made my installation easier not taking to shop doing in my garage now signal folding mirrors hopefully I don't run in no resistance lol
This is something that I am going to try, this week on my 2005 Honda CRV. The only thing is that the replacement mirror back and frame is black , while the factory original is all one color. I was think of swapping out the mirror and motor, instead of Changing out both side to black.
Hi i am also trying to replace my cars mirror and was wondering when you bought your new unit was the mirror was initially connected to the new unit because then how dd you open the black cover back from the new mirror thanks for the video.
+Jodhbir Singh (ਜੋਧਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ) Hi Jodhbir, The scull cap (black cover) comes bagged separately in the box when you buy your unit. Hope this answers your question.
How do you remove the wires from the mirror? You did not show that information on your video. Other than that, this was a great video. Please and Thanks
What about the two wires connected to the mirror? I believe they're for heating the mirror. Mine had two pins sticking out but the replacement didn't have it
Yes those wires are for heated mirror. You need to find out if your Accord model comes with heated mirrors or not and order the correct part. You might have got the non heated mirror replacement. You can call the dealer and ask if your model comes with heated mirrors. Sounds like you have the wrong replacement part. Hope this helps!
How do you re attach the glass portion of the miiror to the acuator, does it just pop in to place? Do you have to re apply glue? Thanks in advance. Great video!
I stepped out on faith after watching your video...had the entire thing done in 30 minutes!! Thanks for making the video!! I didnt put any glue on it and its solid as a rock!
Some 2008 sedans have side view mirrors attached with adhesive. If you try to remove the mirror without using a heat gun to soften the adhesive you will probably break the glass.
My skull cap was cracked ,and 3/4th of it broken off, so most of the back is exposed and accessible. I have ordered a new skull already. My feeling is that I only need to release one maybe two clips on the close side to the car window to cause the now broken last piece of skull cap to release. Then simply snap my new skull in place. Am I on the right track with my plan ?
Hi, that little plastic piece (door lever cover) will easily pop out with a small screw driver with very little effort. Look for the small cut out tab where you can insert a small screw driver to pop it off.
Once you get the mirror off, get a flash light and look inside. You should see some clips / hooks inside that is holding the skull cap on. You'll need a couple of small screw drivers to wedge in between the clips. Keep trying you'll eventually get it off. Be careful... it's made of plastic!
i was replacing the whole unit, so i just pryed off the mirror, cut off the motor and such. and still couldn't get the damn thing off. I finally got it off but it was cause i went ape shit and pressed on one of the tabs as hard as i could and finally the whole thing blasted off. Miraculously, nothing broke. Makes me wonder if Honda designed the tabs to take some abuse.
I broke the glass of my mirror trying to get it off and since you didn't put a disclaimer it'll be a charge of $49.99. Send me your cashapp info or let me know where to send the invoice lol.
The only man on youtube with this repair i swear
THANK YOU !!!!! I've had the part for 5 months, and avoidance took over......once i got the screwdriver between the white & black, it all just fell into place. The world could use more people like you.
I haven't replace my side mirror but this will save me $120 of labor if I can do it myself. You are awesome Thank you.
I did this on a 2012 accord exl and it was exactly the same. This video saved me some time. Thanks. Dealership wanted $310 for parts and labor. I got my replacement from Amazon for$36!
Just got my replacement for 50. About to attempt this. #GreatReviews
great video!! After watching it I realized, I only need to replace my mirror and not the whole unit. THANKS!!!
thanks Doug. Helpful. It solves the problem of the wrong color replacement mirrors we get from parts stores.

Just lost my 2008 passenger mirror to a car wash!

10 years later, it turned out to be his only video. I wonder if something happened to him?
Thanks for the video. I have the same model just in black. I bought my mirror on amazon for $40 with tax. You were great on everything!

Quick question. Does it matter whether the car has heated mirrors or not? Is it still the same process? Great video thanks so much!
Thanks
How do you remove the wires from the mirror? You did not show that information on your video. Other than that, this was a great video.
Please and Thanks
So, you did it? You just clipped them in and out?

Hello, the rubber gasket seal of my mirrors are bad, are these gaskets available at the parts shop?
Thanks for the video. Should it be the same for a 2018 Honda accord sport?
not sure, but let us know!
nice video. very helpful!
Has your replacement mirror been dependable? Same quality as OEM? Great tutorial.
yes, it's just about the same. simple mechanics with these units.
How do you re attach the glass portion of the miiror to the acuator, does it just pop in to place? Do you have to re apply glue? Thanks in advance. Great video!
The mirror comes with backing plate already attached. You just need to snap it into place.
I stepped out on faith after watching your video...had the entire thing done in 30 minutes!! Thanks for making the video!! I didnt put any glue on it and its solid as a rock!
Awesome video great help bro and thanks for contributing, Lol ps Hi from Trinidad and Tobago👍
Glad it helped you my friend! and all the way from Trinidad.... how cool is that!!
Doug Morganstern Nuts, not bolts. Good video though!
I have a Honda 2013 CRV EX would it be the same to install
for it also
Would you advise changing the skull cap over and then installing onto the car? Or install then swap the skull caps after installation?
Very helpful, thank you!

Where did you say you got it?
Can you remove cap without taking the mirror out?
how do yu safely remove the wires connected mine looks like theyre glued on
So you did it bro? Those are responsible for heating the mirror. I'm not sure if I ll do that
I only need to replace the skull cap. Would I still need to remove the entire unit from my car? Thanks!
You don't have to remove the unit off the car, but you will still need to carefully remove the mirror out.
i like this, thanks
How do I safely detach the two wires connected to the old mirror? Thanks in advance
Hi my son side swiped a mailbox (passenger side) what will i need to replace. it moves up and down and side ways it gets stuck.
I got lucky my skull cap was broken and not the mirror so I just popped it off and put the new one on. Can hear the broken pieces inside though
does this work for honda accord 2014 LX ?
Have you figured it out yet? I have the same question. Thank you.
Well I have a 2011 accord. Can't simply pry out the mirror because it's not clear if this works on 2011.
09-12 Accords should be the same. Good luck!
WHAT WEBSITE DID YOU BUY YOUR PART FROM

Hi, that little plastic piece (door lever cover) will easily pop out with a small screw driver with very little effort. Look for the small cut out tab where you can insert a small screw driver to pop it off.
Nowadays the skull cap alone is 145 and the unit is 335 crazy
Where did you say you got it from? You said it too fast.
Has anyone ever said that you sound like Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad?
Why cant u jus replace mirror when you take it off???
Doug... how do I get ahold of you?
Ecellant
great
Hey Doug, do you still have that black cover? I'll buy it off of you if you do. Mine broke today in the snow.
How to get it back? show us how to replace it.
Im laeket thanks
you forgot a helmet,dude..
my skull cap simply would not come off.
