I worked at hair performers in Stratford square mall in the 80’s. Loved that mall and loved all the wonderful people I worked with! They were like family! Stratford was poopin back in the day! Great memories!

The sound of the waterfalls was my favorite. It was so loud you can hear it through half of the whole mall. I hope it will reincarnate into something that is useful to the community again

I lived in nearby Addison Illinois when this mall opened . I was a freshman in high school . Some good memories there . We moved away my senior year so the last time I was there was around 1983 . Sad to see it close .

This was a beautiful mall. I lived nearby but moved out of state 8 years ago, and didn't have a chance to get back. It was failing back then, many vacant storefronts and little foot traffic. Yorktown was moribund but the remodel and addition of stores in the outlot revived it successfully. Fox Valley reinvented itself, too. Ultimately, Stratford really didn't stand much of a chance.

You forgot in 1984 Main Street - forerunner of Kohl's in Stratford Square - opened in the mall as a 5th. anchor!

Yeah this mall always struggled, in the shadow of nearby Woodfield Mall.

Wow this mall just closed what a coincidence, but looking at redevelopment photos it looks like it’s gonna be turned into a modern mall cause they still have sights that say Stratford square mall so is this kinda like a comeback I guess?

There are no plans for redeveloping it, I heard it'll actually be demolished sometime this year to make way for housing

I355 was not built when the mall opened. 355 wasn’t open until 1989.

@@EricCProductions76 The place has gotten even worse since 2017. I just saw a new video of it, it's even moldier here in 2024. I would never want to set foot in there.

This mall only died because Namdar Reality killed it.

The mayor also is to blame. Don’t kid yourself he knew what the company was doing and he was okay with it because he just bought them out.
