The sound of the waterfalls was my favorite. It was so loud you can hear it through half of the whole mall. I hope it will reincarnate into something that is useful to the community again
I worked at hair performers in Stratford square mall in the 80’s. Loved that mall and loved all the wonderful people I worked with! They were like family! Stratford was poopin back in the day! Great memories!
I lived in nearby Addison Illinois when this mall opened . I was a freshman in high school . Some good memories there . We moved away my senior year so the last time I was there was around 1983 . Sad to see it close .
I used to work at JCPenney at Stratford Square upper level at Reserving Room and men department cleaning the fitting rooms help the customers it was inviting store and clean very friendly staffs and mangers. After work I go to the music store buy music albums new pants JCPenney or shirts at Carson Pirie Scott. Very sad news JCPenney will going out of business my JCPenney staffs and mangers were very sad to hear the store is closing for good. I did say goodbye to everyone and my favorite manger she was very sweet kind boss I never forgotten how well I work and treat the customer's respect and help them with their questions. May 2014 the doors at JCPenney closed for good. I miss this store very much. I have photo of my old stores plus the mirror wall escalator so I can check my hair is comb and work shirts are straight and neat. Thank You JCPenney for everything.
This was a beautiful mall. I lived nearby but moved out of state 8 years ago, and didn't have a chance to get back. It was failing back then, many vacant storefronts and little foot traffic. Yorktown was moribund but the remodel and addition of stores in the outlot revived it successfully. Fox Valley reinvented itself, too. Ultimately, Stratford really didn't stand much of a chance.
Wow this mall just closed what a coincidence, but looking at redevelopment photos it looks like it’s gonna be turned into a modern mall cause they still have sights that say Stratford square mall so is this kinda like a comeback I guess?
@@EricCProductions76 The place has gotten even worse since 2017. I just saw a new video of it, it's even moldier here in 2024. I would never want to set foot in there.

Good timing right? Supposedly it closed yesterday.
Yes it did
I355 was not built when the mall opened. 355 wasn’t open until 1989.
thank you for the correction
Yeah this mall always struggled, in the shadow of nearby Woodfield Mall.
You know Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee, Illinois also closed down in Spring 2024. Hope you can do a tribute video soon.
This mall was on an episode of Mike & Molly
Can you visit the El Monte Shopping Strip in California it not far from we’re your at it a outside mall and had a JCPenney and a sears and Woolworth
Stratford square mall is really dead!!! 😭 NOOOOOOOO! 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
There are no plans for redeveloping it, I heard it'll actually be demolished sometime this year to make way for housing
8:35 Oh GOD No!
Can you do a video on the Canton Centre Mall (a.k.a. Mellett Mall) in Canton, Ohio?
thanks for the suggestion. I will add it to my list.

This mall only died because Namdar Reality killed it.
Seriously?
The mayor also is to blame. Don’t kid yourself he knew what the company was doing and he was okay with it because he just bought them out.
