    What if you have weak signal. I plan to have router in my van which has 8 4k cameras outside and I want to stream the data up to cloud. If Vodafone in country lanes is bad reception, what then?

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  10 месяцев назад

      If the signal is weak, you could use a directional external antenna. That could not only boost the signal but also reject other cells to avoid switching of the cell due to the weak signal. Obviously it depends how weak though.

    • @jamesbarratt593
      @jamesbarratt593 10 месяцев назад

      @@tdcattech so where does one buy a directional external antenna…?
      Im on 1 bar of 4g here and seen 3g earlier. This would be going in my van and powered by either 12vdc or inverter. My van has 8 cameras 4k resolution which feed a centre computer which uploads to the cloud. Each camera has 50gb inside too. Just want great signal around my van as I do car keys and auto electrics.
      Little cottage I had ten years back i bought a signal booster. Worked good.

    I have to say it is beyond ridiculous that netgear is wanting £899 for it. That’s the price of an iPhone. This product doesn’t have anything premium about it. Unless you need it for work and you can’t get any other model, do not buy it! Absolute rip off!

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  Год назад +1

      Yes, I have to agree. I intentionally avoided mentioning price as they quickly reduce as products age but right now, the price asked is absolutely ludicrous. It’s a pretty specialist market though. Not much choice with this level of 5G support and every WiFi option.

      There’s no such thing as overpriced, IMO…we each place a rather different value and ROI on each product or service we use. You can simply effort it, or not.

    • @grandcalifornia8410
      @grandcalifornia8410 6 месяцев назад

      @@ninjadiver8202 definitely disagree on your point massively. Sure you can or cannot afford to buy an iPhone so you settle for android, but that doesn’t mean you can’t call things excessively expensive. At least Apple is different in what they do and how they do it, better has got nothing going for them. I would have been more inclined to agree with you if UniFi made a premium looking 5g mobile router. The quality of their stuff is definitely on par with What Apple makes.

  • @dustup2249

    I think the manufacture's reasoning behind preventing charging and normal use while charging is that they may have started these devices on fire or caused unintended battery safety disconnection in design testing.
    Charging circuitry causes heat. WiFi hot spot connection radio circuitry causes heat. LTE Radio circuitry causes heat. Heat up a LiFePO4 battery too much will trip it's internal disconnect and will not necessarily give a notification on your app because the battery manufacturer does not include intelligent BMS circuitry in this scale of battery that will tell the Netgear firmware the reason that it disconnected. With all three of these circuits working simultaneously over the course of hours will inevitably melt something.

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  9 месяцев назад +1

      Completely agree. I can't remember if I mentioned it in the video but this thing gets really quite hot when it's on and in use for extended periods. I've had a case where I put it in a rucksack as a connection point for a few people and the sealed environment (plus the battery in this case) made for an uncomfortably warm product!

    ??? Great Review: Sounds like - if only requirement was for cellular data connectivity 'on the move' - a spare phone with a pre-paid (Pay As You Go) SIM, would allow you to make phone calls (from your 'primary' monthly plan mobile) while simultaneously accessing the web from your 2nd (pre-paid) SIM on a spare phone. Also, that set-up would give you a back-up phone too. I gather decent Mobile Routers cost several hundred, and therefore a medium spec back-up phone might cost about the same? (Only thing is, could two people connect to a single spare mobile, either one-at-a-time, or both at the same time?) Also, gather that some phones can have two SIMS, which (maybe) means you could have laptop connected to one SIM as a hotspot, while using the other SIM at the same time to make a call? Cheers

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  8 месяцев назад

      You're probably right. For the cost of this thing, I could literally have a 'spare' high end iPhone doing the same thing with a *much* nicer interface and, well, everything that a phone offers. However, I doubt a phone hotspot can handle as many connections as well as this does (just a guess) and then there's the use of an external antenna which is really cool and not something I've made a video on yet even though I do have one to play with.

However, I am not clear on how to make it work without the battery. It says I can use without battery, but then when plugging up without it in, it says it wants the battery back? Maybe I should watch whole video first before asking. LoL

    Hey there, this video was a lot of help - thank you! Quick question. I am a real estate photographer and I shoot about 3 to 5 houses a day. I’ve been looking to find a way to upload all of my files to my editor on the go in between shoots so that I’m not doing it all at once at home at the end of the day… So I was looking into mobile hotspots and that’s when someone recommended the nighthawk six Pro. From the sound of it, you don’t think that this would be option for me with the amount of sizable files that I would be uploading in the car. I’m new to the whole mobile hotspot world - is there any other hotspot that you would recommend other than this nighthawk that would be suitable for my situation. Thank you in advance!

      Sorry, I don't know as I've never tried it. There are quite a few factors to consider too. I know that mobile / cell latency can easily be good enough for regular gaming but I would bet this would suffer a lot with the stream of the game itself (much more so than on fibre, for example).

He has had the thing for three weeks or so. It was a well delivered presentation. So as a first impressions review of the product I think its worth a 9/10. Also, check the due diligence of his responses to comments and further info, he has been hard at work giving added value to this video. You could be more charitable with your words.
