This is really interesting, even on the more powerful of the 3 modes and avoiding dropping below 15%, this still can travel 85km with a decent speed. This would be more than enough for most cities, which is where scooters are designed to be. Not the cheapest scooter to buy, but would be really cheap to run. It is great to see more choices of ways to get around!

Excellent job on the review! We've been test riding the NIU NQi GT (NGT) out of our electric scooter store (Motor Pony Electric) in Vancouver, Canada for the past month and it has been amazing! Our city is really hilly and this is the 1st scooter that we have tried that can truly handle the hills and keep up to traffic. Lane splitting is not only convenient and legal in most of the world but it actually keeps the motorcyclist safer and reduces traffic because you’re not taking up a spot on the road that a car could be in.
Waiting patienty for the Niu RQi-GT they teased us with at CES 2020. I appreciate your details about lane splitting. I didn't know what it was called or that it was legal in many places. Unfortunately, its not legal where I live (Georgia - United States).
No that is fortunate.......It is about the quickest way to die........What exactly do You think You are going to do when some child opens the car door in front.........Yes, I know what Fools say....It will be Their fault........But that will not bring You back to Life....Paul
Lane sharing saves lives. Using that space between cars allows the rider to be in a protected space instead of hanging out there waiting to be struck from the rear. Many more riders are injured or killed by that than from filtering or lane splitting/sharing. That's why it is legal in many states.
In Taiwan, scooters are supposed to go to the front to stay in a box dedicated to motorcycles and scooters to wait for green light. And lane splitting is the only way to make it possible. This help makes the the traffic move quicker as scooters move faster than cars the first few seconds at starting up.
I have a Yadea G5. Only had it 6weeks. But I agree that the drop off to eco mode when the battery is low is dangerous. I recently derestricted the bike to see how it performs. The eco mode went to 29mph and normal was only 47mph on the flat. So no gains really, except.... when the battery got low it went to eco mode of 29mph. Which I felt was much safer. (Had to restrict it again for the time being but I think I will do it again legally when I can take the tests)
Thanks for a great review. I wonder if anything's changed in two years -- lower prices? Lighter batteries? Longer range? Also, I'm looking forward to the Japanese players jumping into this game -- Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, etc. Somehow I have more faith in their quality and customer support, but maybe I'm old fashioned.
@Gerry S.S well I mean I feel like they still culturally have more in common with the Mediterranean but yeah I know right. I often forget that if you're Jewish you can just claim citizenship there and go live there quite easily. Also, the current presidential administration has much less sympathy for Israel than Trump's did. Unsurprising given Obama's Israel policy while he was in office with Biden previously. I wonder what's going to happen with must of the west turning on Israel over their Palestine policies.
Great video! I really enjoyed the sightseeing part of Tel Aviv! I've been eyeing a Niu for 2 years now. But the missing luggage rack is a killer for me & top box unpractical for huge grocery shopping or bulky parcels. I hoped so much that NIU would change it - the 2022 Evo with 100 kmh speed is gorgeous. But still no rack. The classical Vespa styles seem the only option for me. But their technical features are so old. Sigh. My dad bought one of the first Niu's 3 years ago. Not one single problem & nice to drive, even with 45 kmh. Great quality
Hey Micah Toll! Have you ridden the 14" Nui GTS scooter? I'm curious if the larger tires smooth out bumps a perceptible amount? Greetings from Vancouver British Columbia Canada! Ride ride ride!
Question about the batteries, do they work in parallel (discharge at the same time) or do they get discharge one after the other (switches to the second one after the first battery gets to 20%) ?
Great review. And youre an awesome & easy to listen to - reviewer. As to the less hug quandry had the same thing happen on my motorcycles. Backrest = less hugs. I feel your pain...
I’m getting one of these! NIU makes these for Revel & Lime (custom paint jobs), & I’m like...why rent them & be limited when I can just own one straight from the original manufacturer! I currently ride a Citycoco 🛵 & love it, Phat Scooter 🛵 is up next...then niu! 😆
This really appeals to me except for the lack of space under the seat. I would much prefer both of the batteries to be under the feet, or at least the seat battery somewhere else.
What about when it rains ? What about ice and snow ? Freezing cold (no heat) ? When it’s blazing hot ( no AC) ? Not to mention sooo many more downsides, in fact, too many to delve into here. Even if it, or any 2 wheeled vehicle were free to buy, and zero to operate...way too many limitations and compromises for me to consider as a practical commuter. And yea...ALL ARE UNSAFE! Note: though I watch every single of Micha’s videos, and enjoy them all immensely. I watch because I’m fascinated by the technology and capabilities and advantages electric drive transportation offers. I just prefer the 4 wheeled variety
There are these things you can get called coats. Solves most of the weather problems. And when it's hot it's nice cos you get wind to cool you down. Unless your regularly carry heavy loads or people you'd be an idiot not to use a bike. Or at least try one before moaning about the negatives. There are pros and cons to everything including cars my man.
... sehr sehr gutes Video - because of the scooter review AND because of the viewed locations (I would have watched you drive around for a while longer !) 👍 (at 5:22 - how did you get this so cool done camera moving - the camera somehow seemed to overtake you ?!?👍)
Great video. I'm considering to buy the new version (NQI GTS or the EVO). I'm wondering if you have comments about the breaks and the performance of the motorcycle in bumpy streets.
Thanks a lot for the detailed and honest opinion about the scooter. One thing I wanted to ask is my home is on top of a hill. You mentioned that the ride sets a limit to protect the battery at 15%. Do you think I'll have trouble if I buy an electric scooter if I can't go uphill at let's say 20~25% a quarter battery left and cant go uphill? Btw it's around $1k in South Korea for your model. I know it's a baragain(gov subsidy to promote e-commerce) but setting aside the price, will I be able to get home that is on top of a steep hill (as steep as the brick rode in your video) with quarter of battery left?
No problem with conscientious lane-splitting, but there's a difference between that and passing on the right as you do in the tight squeeze between the moving cars and the parked cars. That's what gives me a heart attack, as you anticipate a driver's-side door from a parked car flinging open at any moment. And sorry, yes it happens. Whether on a motorbike or bicycle. A driver has parked, is sitting for a bit, and then decides to get out flinging the door open without looking. It's gut-tightening. Nice review though! And it certainly appears you are getting a higher-grade, quality-controlled scooter for the money. The small wheels on this style scoot never did it for me though, and I'd be leaning towards a larger-wheeled Honda Cub/Aprilia Scarabeo/Kymco People style electric scooter. What's out there in electric scooters with larger wheels?
Nice review! I just ask why governments are still allowing gas scooters if this things exist! Here in Belgium I don't see them a lot unfortunately ....
I bought one in shanghai china. It is so great. I list the price in shanghai. NGT with one 26AH battery sell about 15000RMB almost 2300US$ or 1970EU. NGT with one 35AH battery sell about 20000RMB almost 3070US$ or 2630EU. And extra 26AH battery cost 3100RMB almost 477US$ or 407EU. Extra 35AH battery cost 5000RMB almost 770US$ or 658EU. Maybe oversea price will be a bit higher.
I prefer my Suzuki Address 110 scooter for getting around town at up to 55 even 60 mph on faster outlying roads in favorable conditions. It doesn't break the bank either at over 120 miles per gallon fuel economy. I can also fill its fuel tank from empty to full in just a few minutes, no electric bike can charge up from empty to full battery in that time.
im saving up for one. currently using a kick scooter and the measly 32kmh is not enough and the torque is not good enough for the 2 steep hills i have to ride coming back from work. all i need is the lowest license for scooters.
Does this scooter require a license in florida because I have tried researching and it's confusing through online and many people who I know have electric scooters says it doesn't and others says it requires so I'm confused 😕

In Taiwan, scooters are supposed to go to the front to stay in a box dedicated to motorcycles and scooters to wait for green light. And lane splitting is the only way to make it possible. This help makes the the traffic move quicker as scooters move faster than cars the first few seconds at starting up.
@@jnyylee and more people will use a scooter because of that advantage. Which will improve traffic flow imho
6:02 - You took a spill? Be safe always love your reviews!
Woah didn't realize he was in israel.. cool! I just assumed he was like in florida or something cause he sounds so radio english-american. 😂
i believe he also lives in florida sometimes?
Didn't it ever occur to you that sometimes Americans live overseas? SMH
@@ETruesdel you are quite the asshole for being from the Midwest. I'd appreciate it if you didn't question my intelligence, you don't know me.

I didn’t realize you were living in Israel. My wife is from Hertzlia. Be well and stay safe. Sam in New Hampshire USA.
Best reviews man, keep it up! Cheers
Yes this is correct. 🤝
Hey Micah Toll! Have you ridden the 14" Nui GTS scooter? I'm curious if the larger tires smooth out bumps a perceptible amount? Greetings from Vancouver British Columbia Canada! Ride ride ride!
Lucky to actually be allowed to ride 80km/h. In my country it is only limited to 45km/h.
Your are the best real pro reviewer
You do know how bikes work, yeah?
There are these things you can get called coats. Solves most of the weather problems. And when it's hot it's nice cos you get wind to cool you down. Unless your regularly carry heavy loads or people you'd be an idiot not to use a bike. Or at least try one before moaning about the negatives. There are pros and cons to everything including cars my man.

Pros n Cons are generally viewed as a weighted metric.
In my estimation...The Cons far outweigh the Pros.

... sehr sehr gutes Video - because of the scooter review AND because of the viewed locations (I would have watched you drive around for a while longer !) 👍 (at 5:22 - how did you get this so cool done camera moving - the camera somehow seemed to overtake you ?!?👍)
Brilliant video 😎
It's scary you not wearing any protective gear😱
Fun to watch. Where was the Gopro mounted? On a friends bike?
More focus on its hill ability with say a 90 plus kg rider would be good. Its often an under discussed area and lots of towns have good hills.
Great review, thank you 👌
FYI , the traffic wardens in London have and use them .
The max speed limit in my town's inner streets is 20, so the lower mode could be useful.
You may want to keep the high mode on, just in case you need the extra speed to get out of a dangerous situation
Here in Belgium I don't see them a lot unfortunately ....
price? :P its many reasons to be honest, even if these are great
Because maybe people should be free to choose what THEY want??
Wow this looks awesome not to mention do you need a license do drive these things?
I bought one in shanghai china. It is so great. I list the price in shanghai. NGT with one 26AH battery sell about 15000RMB almost 2300US$ or 1970EU. NGT with one 35AH battery sell about 20000RMB almost 3070US$ or 2630EU. And extra 26AH battery cost 3100RMB almost 477US$ or 407EU. Extra 35AH battery cost 5000RMB almost 770US$ or 658EU. Maybe oversea price will be a bit higher.
ON sale in the US?
Awesome video. How did you get that camera angle at 8:34?
Brother you should also check simple mark and ika scotter simple mark has 236 km range
5:17 how can you record this view? Was your camera flying along with your scooter?
Sorry for the late response, but I can answer your question. He is using a 360 camera, most likely the Insta 360 One X2 on a mount. You can see the blindspot right below the headlight. That's we're the camera is.

Sorry for the late reply but in the uk the bike is limited to 45mph but your only doing like 43 mph and I've done 6k miles and it's no where near as toquey. as this niu it takes a while to build up power.
The smart check is fake as I unplugged everything and it still come back with no errors
Nice Review. Thank you! TEL Aviv looks very nice
Enjoyed the video, Micah! Great job! The removable batteries is a huge plus for this scooter. How long does it take you to charge them? Cheers, Govind
